How many times have you gone camping and realized you forgot to bring half the things you actually need? Packing for a camping trip is definitely a little different than packing for an all inclusive vacation, so we've compiled a COMPLETE CAMPING CHECKLIST to share with you. This list has been compiled over years of camping trips, and we're happy to say that we don't complain about forgetting anything anymore! It includes everything you need for sleeping, cooking, personal items, and overall camping essentials. It can be used for the absolute beginner all the way to the experienced camper.
Many of the items we include on this list are for, what we call, 'comfy camping'. This is your Front Country type camping where you will be staying at a maintained campsite. However, that doesn't mean this list can't be used for other types of camping as well!

I totally enjoyed your presentation! You laughter was contagious LOL!
Happy camping don't forget
Hey are yall a Christian couple, it seems so but I could be wrong
What is that red tent in the thumbnail?
Foil packet meals. Make your first layer parchment paper. Then wrap in foil. Total game changer. Nothing burned, nothing stuck to the foil. And clean up was a breeze because I just opened up the packet down the middle and ate right out of it.
woah! game changer for sure!! we'll be adding the parchment paper to our packing list for sure!
@@TiaandAndy also was able to burn the parchment paper in the fire pit afterwards and then the foil got crumpled up really small and disposed of properly
What are some things to put in the foiled meals?
@@sandymackendrick6135 I love cooking salmon, tilapia, etc this way because it never dries out and gets tough, plus the veggies steam perfectly. I also cook shrimp this way. My typical seafood packet is a filet, and either broccoli or asparagus, then I add some garlic butter and lemon. Wrap it up tight in parchment, then in 2 separate layers of foil. I have also done pre-cooked frozen meatballs with a variety of veggies. If I'm doing steak I like to cook that on the fire pit grill, but I peel and slice a potato (per person) and wrap it in parchment with butter and seasonings to taste. Then double foil and into the coals it goes. Potatoes will brown up nicely, no sticking, no burning and you can also do corn on the cob in a packet with butter exactly the same. The trick is to seal up the parchment really well to keep all the moisture inside, and turn the packets regularly. I practiced a bunch of recipes at home ahead of time with my charcoal BBQ to get the timing right. There are a zillion recipes out there. And you can modify most of them to your liking. Good luck
Great idea thank you so much for sharing
From my personal experience, I bring at least several extra large size garbage bags with me, those are really handy. One time I had to leave the tent in the middle of the night because our campground was flooded. I threw all my clothes and electronics into the garbage bag and carry them to my car, thanks to that, nothing got wet and I was able to dry myself very quickly once I got into the car. Garbage bags are really good too because you can use them as emergency tarps, it's not thick, but at least it can keep things dry and free of dirt, you can also cut it to make it larger, or cut the bottom, and roll it up to use it like a plastic hoop.
My input for additional warmth - $10 from Homer’s: 24 in. x 10 ft. Double Reflective Insulation. Trust me, it will keep you warm, top, bottom, or lightly toasted on both sides!
I've camped every summer for many years. What I do is place my items in numbered boxes ( box #1, #2 etc... ) then make a checklist of what's in each box ( ie tent, pillow, sleeping bag ). Same with what's in my backpack and toiletry bag. So if I want to find something I just look at my checklist. This prevents wasted time having to look for things and more time enjoying the camping trip.
Not a bad system! We’ve had our bucket for years and always keep things in the same spot. So we’ve gotten a mental map of this.
Portable speaker, portable charger
oh yes. great addition to the list!
Great list. I would recommend one more item. Petroleum jelly. Works as a moisturizer, lip balm, lubricant for stuck hinges, bolts etc and a fire starter when spread thinly on twigs or paper.
This is such a great addition, thanks for sharing! We just recently discovered cotton ball + petroleum jelly homemade fire starter and it is such a game changer!
Petroleum jelly, one of your best camping friends! A little flint, a little steel, you got a toasty farrrrr!
Great list .I would add bear spray depending on where you are camping. String lights just for fun. Privacy or Shower tent if there is no toilet/shower room.
oh good call! oh my god... yes. bear spray is a must in bear country. Especially during April... they're not so cuddly when they're hungry!
In russa we learn wrestling for that
smart
even though I'm not going outside
I will take this list for my inside camping
Very kind of you guys to take the time and great effort to share your knowledge and expertise!
Cooking gear: use a sheet size of the al foil, form in a shallow cup. Place burger in it on the grill or pan, turn when needed! Pan remains clean!
Great list! Thank you so much for your guys to share your experience. I'm going to camp this weekend. It's super helpful!
a Wok? The two of youse are a GENIUS camping couple! For plates I use a small baking sheet pan, this channel has taught me so much thanks!
Hey KJ, thanks for that comment! Made our day! Yeah the wok was a stroke of genius on our part too. We need a pot and a pan…. So the Asian in me just came up with a wok!
Super helpful thank you!
Garbage bags or something to collect your trash in is helpful too
Glad it was helpful! And yes. garbage bags are super helpful! even though we keep a box of them in the car, we always grab a few extra on the way out!
Thanks for reminding us of things we would have forgotten (:
No problem, enjoy your camping trip!
This is brilliant!! Since we are all stuck here this summer, I really want to take the kids camping. I was already looking into essentials, this came at the perfect time:). Thanks guys for saving me time, your video covered it all.
Great! glad we can help. please let us know if there's anything else you'd like to see!
Essential tools for 2022! I'm going green, like lost in the wilderness green! Thanks to the both of you! Don't forget the dog 🐕 and dogfood guys
List is great, i do recommend trash bags and batteries for no solar powered flashlights/lamps
Thanks, BrianSantiago. We have all lithium powered gear so won’t need batteries!
We are planning a camping trip next month so this was very helpful! 😊
Oh awesome, we've forgotten at least 1 thing EVERY time we go camping despite having a camping list. We seriously need to start re watching this video as a recap before we head out haha. Glad you found it helpful. Whereabouts are you heading for some camping??
@@TiaandAndy Well we live in Washington state so just around the area 😊
Thank you guys! That was very helpful. P.S. Going out the first time, gotta be PREPARED!
The list is much appreciated!
Thanks Carlos!
Camping next week. Lysol is something I hadn't thought of! So glad I found this video!
Glad it was helpful! Enjoy your camping trip!
Getting ready to take my kids camping for the first time in their lives and this was really helpful, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Phenomenal video, you guys have great energy! I was smiling throughout!!!! Fantastic content. New subscriber!
Thanks so much! Comments like this really mean a lot to us :)
You guys are well prepared! We've just been talking about going camping this summer for the first time in ages, so this video was helpful 😄 You reminded me I definitely need to upgrade my torch....
Glad it was helpful! when buying a torch, make sure to get one that's USB rechargeable! it makes all the difference.
@@TiaandAndy Thanks! My current one is a wind up torch, lol!
Reminds me of camping with my parents i love it thanks so much
Great! thanks for watching!
Thank you all so much for this amazing video! It's been a huge help.
Thanks guys
Really nice to see people giving back
Thanks for video, we are just getting back into tent camping ourselves. Please continue on, younse are already ahead of us. :)
No problem! Hope you enjoy!!
Omg thank you for the list!
No problem!! We hope it's useful~!
This is great, im going camping for the first time ever and most these things I would have forgot
Glad you found it useful!
Thank you for sharing your camping tips. They’re very helpful. 😊
Great job guys. Thank you for sharing the checklist as well.
No problem!
Thank you for your video. Despite what the TV tells you, antibacterial sprays and wipes don't kill viruses. They're not alive in the first place. CZcams comments aren't the place for me to get into why they lie about that, but soap and water for other bacteria will keep you clean as you need to be.
Thanks you are saving our first eve camping life 😆
Awesome reminder video, and thanks so much for including the download.
No problem!
watching right now before packing up and heading out - thanks for the reminders xd
No problem!! Enjoy your trip!
Good video. Thank you for checklist.
no problem! hopefully it's useful. let us know if we've forgotten anythign!
Another great video, nice job!
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much y’all, planning my first camping trip so this is great!
Our pleasure! This is a great list for camping.
i pack most things in storage containers one can even be used for washing dishes i also always bring fire starters or scrap paper and a table for a cooking station and if you have the room i suggest a garden rake for clearing the area where you set up camp
Another awesome video guys, keep up the great work
Thanks! hopefully you found it helpful!
Thats okay!
Don't forget a can opener. It seems like I always need one!!! And I use a weekly pill container for a little bit of spices
oh YES! that's pretty key. we've had to awkwardly use a knife before... not pleasant
Or if your from the UK 🇬🇧 tin opener
Thanks for this great video, for someone who has never camped before this was really informative. My girlfriend and I plan on trying to camp this summer :)
Glad it was helpful! Please let us know if there are things your'e wondering. We're making a bunch more camping related videos so shoot us anything you're wondering!
@@TiaandAndy will do!
Very helpful thank you!!
No worries, Dev! hope you enjoyed that camping trip!
Very useful video. Thanks for that you guys are awesome
Thanks so much!
you guys are exactly what I was looking for thank you! also wanted to say I like your voices
Nice video with some good recommendations. After some experience many people find value in minimizing the amount of gear & "stuff" they bring and seek ways to reduce weight.
Oh absolutely! We bring this much stuff when we’re going with friends for the luxury life. Our most used list is much more paired down!
Ive been watching a TON of videos to prepare my family for starting out our camping adventures and you two are just the cutest! You make my heart smile so thank you❤
Thanks Jeanine! we're so glad that the video was of any help! please let us know how your camping trip turns out!
the explanation about camping checklists is very good
Thanks! Glad you found it helpful!
I am camping for a week with my 20 month old twins and all of our bedding and clothing I got to fit in 2 jumbo vacuum seal bags, I can use the air pump for the air mattress for the bags when we pack up also. I will never pack the old way again
Love the idea of a vacuum sealed bag to really condense the size!!! Thanks for sharing!!
You forgot toilet paper and paper towels 😁
Great addition! Those are definitely handy to also pack!
Thank you for this!!
No problem 😊
A weekend turned to a year with this set up. Thanks a lot
Into a year?! Nice! Any changes you made?
@@TiaandAndy ya..bring a partner
Thanks for this video it is helpful. i have not gone camping. .. you guys are awesome
Thanks so much! maybe we should create a video with more tips? maybe that'll convince you to try it out?
that downloadable check list file is awesome . Appreciate it.
no problem. maybe we should update it. it's been a couple of years!
You guys are the sweetest...thank you
Thanks for watching, Cesar!

Thank y'all planning to go lake camping this April here in West Texas
Hope you have a great time! Let us know if you have any questions that weren't answered in the video!
Ww bought 2 Coleman Trailhead 2 Camping Cots very comfortable $40 here in Michigan US we live in Iron River, Michigan Upper Peninsula of Michigan
Our daughter Elizabeth uses a queen or full size air mattress
Hi there Tia & Andy!! Am going for a first time camping this weekend. But still blur on what to prepare. Came across to your channel about camping. And o...I know just what to do. Thank you so much for sharing. Watching from Borneo.
No problem!! Hope your trip was amazing!!
thank you
I camp solo, so for cooking, I bought a stainless steel kids cooking set-it cost me $20, I have 2 pans, a wok and a stock pot with a strainer and 2 lids, and my pot handle latches on them nicely!
Oooh! Fancy! Great price!
@@TiaandAndy Of course! Just because you're pooping in a hole and going without regular showers is no reason to act like a wild man!
So true! Although letting go and being wild can be pretty fun!
This will help me camp because this summer I'm going camping😀😀😀
Nice!
Thank you so much! 😃🥰
Very helpful and fun to listen to
Glad to hear it!
Thank you for the tips guys. I am new to your channel. 💖😄
Welcome!!!
Thanks, great tips!!!
You bet!
Also some bungie cords to out around and tie closed your cooler. Once while camping, coins got in our cooler, ate the food and left a dirty ivey mess.
Good tip! but we never leave our cooler out. It's locked securely in the trunk of the car or when we are back country camping, we'll use the foodbox provided. If that's not available, we tie up our food.
This is a fantastic trick though!
Ok, on the insect repellent line: burn sage! Also a small metal can, such as a clean tuna can with a small amount of water in the base. Place a yet smaller diameter can in that. A small amount of sage goes in the second can for burning within your tent if the mosquitoes persist!
Good to know thank you this is good to know
Container to store all the stuff storage bin
I like these people!!!!
Thanks Charlie!
♥️UGUYS‼️🍓🍒
A generator optional / speaker box I like to bump music camping ....
Hangers to roast the marshmallows .... I just got back from camping and I was one thing I forgot was the hangers to roast marshmallows lol ...
Great additions to the list, thanks for sharing!
I like to bring a power station. A jackery, ecoflow, or bluetti are all good ones. You can run all your lights, fans, etc.
We have one in the van! We didn’t have something like that when we made the video but now that we do, we definitely bring it every where!
@@TiaandAndy Coolio!
How big is your backpacks?
what's good too is allergy eye drops, Clear eyes...
two reasons for me are obviously is allergies irritate your eyes but also if you're fair skinned and use sunscreen on your face and sweat gets in your eyes, now your dealing with stinging eyes from the sunscreen, ugh!. It's tiny and you won't even know you have it, but glad you brought it just in case. :))
This is POG thx
no problem!
Small tree branches lol always in past had to deal with it here in Michigan campgrounds
Lots of trees
This is so great info thank you love the video i love hot dogs and marshmellows
No problem at all! Definitely can't go wrong with hot dogs and marshmallows!
I love your videos
You forgot one of the most important items. Toilet paper. You can also buy tablet towels that are biodegradable and with a tiny bit of water turn into a much needed wet wipe for multiple uses.
Godo tip! Did we not include Toilet Paper on the list?! if not, we'll 100% need to add that. SO IMPORTANT!
I think all paper towels are biodegradable. it's just paper after all. And the bounty we take with use can definitely be turned into wetwipes! Good tips though
@@TiaandAndy I don't think you did, but if so my bad. And yeah they're kinda like paper towels but they're a lot softer and thicker.
I used to camp a long time ago. Something I used to always do was pack all of my items and especially my food into totes. This ensures my food and items was safe from rain and critters. I used to store it in the vehicle but I got tired of bringing it in and out Everytime. But a really great list guys that truly covers all anyone should need and then some. 😁
ah yes. it's required for us to do that. Where we are in Ontario, this isn't as important. Andy's camped in bear country and the car isn't even safe. in some places, they provide you with a bear proof metal box for you to put your food!
@@TiaandAndy wow that is really cool and scary all at the same time.
You forgot that another personal item could be a fishing rod. That is what I love to do during camping and I will not go camping if it is not near a lake
Great addition to the list!!
Cool
Thank you, I will be solo camping for the first time this weekend...kind of intimidated. Don’t know how to build a fire😯
Ah! Check out our video on the best fire starters and bring a bunch of that! Even if you want to practice your bush craft skills, the #1 most important thing is to be able to start a fire... So bring a couple back up methods!
How did it go? Fire building is one of those life skills you'll always feel better about having 🔥
@@pirateslife4me Haven’t gotten a chance yet. Weather turned bad that weekend, now extremely hot here. Looks like I’ll have to wait until Fall, but I’m so looking forward to camping! Thanks for info!
Great ideas Tks guys
Thanks for watching!
Love your video 😊
Thank you!! 😊
great tips
I have that exact camping stove
Nice! It’s great
Very helpful ❤
I'm so glad!
Where we go you need bear spray ,a bear horn, can be seconded as an search sounder, granola bars, small hand held mirror pocket size, pocket knife a whistle, a cell if possible a cell can be even not charged there is a lil reserve for emergency in power and can still reach 911,lastly a pocket size thermal tin blanket which should all be placed in a Fanny pack on your body when ever out on hikes in case you get turned around the woods, the woods can be very deceiving and can be used if you get lost, it’s sad but this does occur and some out comes are not always happy endings, many sad and horrific stories of people getting lost.
