    I absolutely love watching you at the organ. You are one with the instrument and can make it sing. It amazes me there is no music in front of you as well. And I see the joy you get from playing in the smile on your face and your body movements. How long did it take for you to set up the presets, (stops) for this song? You make playing look so easy, thanks for sharing your talent, and keep um coming. Would love to hear a 42nd Street medley.

    Hallo Fraser,

      Consider yourself lucky to have a mere lockdown. In addition to an apparently futile lockdown (cases are rising every day), this part of Germany has just gone into a curfew. We’re not allowed out between 21:00 and 05:00 until things calm down again... To add to the depression, my new toy is at the organ builder’s getting its new togs...😩 ho hum...

    Very entertaining Fraser. The Robert Morton is a terrific sample set for this particular jazzy music... a Barton would possibly be the only other voices to make this piece shine! (Wurlitzers are generally the best - - but the mammoth brass sounds from this set really set this to stratosphere toe tapping!)

Wenn schon, dann will ich alles hören was deine Orgel bringt.

    Yea! From Buxtehude - Bach - - to Boogie and back again and all with a flick of a (few) switches. All designed by a Welshman.
    Then the Yanks took it over, stuffed the price up And we get a whole new wider experience.
    Never mind it's only money!!

      @@FraserGartshore I was afraid of that, but the improvisations are based on written out songs aren't they? Hopefully someone in this wonderful community knows some place, where one could take a look at arrangements of these...

      Might soon be in piping hot 2 ;)

    • @HammondDirk
      @HammondDirk Před 3 lety

      Piping Hot is of course never a bad idea ;-). If that might be too difficult (well, I am actually a bad reader of multi-voiced music, I prefer the lead sheets with chords, there are many options to get those, both legal and illegal), I started playing when I was a kid with the books from Kenneth Baker, from the Complete Organ Player to Professional Pieces and Jazz Pieces. Although I don't always like his way of arranging, and it sounds a bit strange playing "improvisations" from sheet music, it teaches you some basic licks you can use and a path to reading chords, although I think the most important thing failing in his method is explaining the theory behind the chords...
