  • Harvey Brownstone Interviews Antonio Sabato Jr., Renowned Actor, Producer, Author
Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Antonio Sabato Jr., Renowned Actor, Producer, Author
    About Harvey's guest:
Today’s guest, Antonio Sabato Jr., is a highly popular and immensely likeable actor, producer and writer who first made a splash as Janet Jackson’s sexy dancing partner in her hugely successful 1990 music video, “Love Will Never Do Without You”.
He then went on to play the charismatic “John Jagger Cates” in the daytime drama, “General Hospital”, earning 3 Soap Opera Digest Award nominations. He returned to that role in 2008 in “General Hospital: Night Shift”.
He’s appeared in many feature films and TV movies including “The Big Hit”, “High Voltage”, “Fatal Error”, “Mindstorm”, “Ghost Voyage”, “If Looks Could Kill”, “Shark Hunter”, “Guilty as Charged”, “Drifter: Henry Lee Lucas”, for which he won a Best Actor Award at the Beverly Hills Film Festival, “Grace By Night”, for which he won TWO Best Actor Awards at prestigious international film festivals, “One Nation Under God”, for which he won TWO Best Supporting Actor Awards at the Christian Film Festival, and of course, he also appeared in the wonderful 1999 miniseries, “Tribe”.
You’ve also seen him in dozens of TV shows including “Earth 2”, “Melrose Place”, “Charmed”, “The Help”, “Hilton Head Island”, and he portrayed “Dante Damiano” on “The Bold and the Beautiful”, earning 2 NAACP Image Award nominations for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series. He’s also starred in 2 reality shows: “My Antonio”, and the immensely popular “Fix it and Finish it”, in addition to appearing many times on “The Balance”, starring Eric Bolling. And who can forget his sexy dance routines with Cheryl Burke in Season 19 of “Dancing with the Stars”?
And if all of that weren’t enough, in the late-90s, our guest became a global sensation as a model and representative for Calvin Klein. His iconic photos wearing Calvin Klein underwear appeared in EVERY magazine, and he was even featured on a 90 foot billboard overlooking Times Square, causing traffic to stop and hearts to palpitate. In 1999 our guest released a terrific book entitled, “No Excuses: Workout for Life”, all about his approach to physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. That book sold 300,000 copies.
And in 2020, he released a deeply personal, heartfelt and poignant memoir entitled, “Sabato: The Untold Story”, chronicling his family history, his determination to succeed, and his resilience in an industry that can sometimes be brutal. He also provides a frank account of the struggles he faced as an actor seeking to continue his film and television career following his groundbreaking speech at the 2016 Republican National Convention and his run for Congress. The book is now being revised to include great photographs and updated chapters about our guest’s newly revitalized career. After reading his book, I was compelled to invite him on our show, because he has an inspirational story that everyone needs to hear.

When I read Antonio Sabato Jr.’s memoir and realized there was so much more to this man than a handsome face and sexy body, I knew we somehow had to convince him to come on our show. It took a year to make that happen, because he felt so beaten up and beaten down by the Hollywood industry after his unsuccessful run for political office in 2016. He wasn’t sure he felt ready to bare his soul in the way all my guests end up doing. But somehow, as our friendship developed, and his confidence and trust in me as an interviewer grew, he felt comfortable really opening up his heart in this profoundly insightful conversation. I hope you’ll open your heart to this wonderful man, read his book and support his upcoming movie “Grace By Night”. He deserves our support.

Harvey! I just finished watching the interview with Antonio and what a sweet hour it was! I met him a handful of times and took some candids of him when we were in Hollywood. I hope his acting career takes off again and that people see him for the good hearted guy he is.

Watching and listening to your interview with my friend Antonio Sabato Jr., for me as the co-author of his book, revealed the very humble, faith driven, Antonio Sabato Jr. which I have had the privilege to get to know as a dear friend, through the many stories he told us in his book. I hope many people will see, as you Harvey and I have, the real person behind the face and body we have all loved to see in his career spanning 30 years. Your interview is the first in-depth look at the real Antonio Sabato Jr. giving all your fans and followers the opportunity to meet this amazing, honest, faith-driven man. This interview is one of the best you have ever done, congratulations, it was thrilling to see, and I encourage everyone to watch his latest movie, "Grace Under God," which is Antonio's best work yet. As he told us, "The best is yet to come!"

Good interview, proud of you for interviewing someone who may not be politically the same as most Hollywood people. Just because someone is somewhat conservative does not mean they endorse hate at all. We should be able to express our peaceful conerns of policies that trouble us without losing a job. It's tough out there. Peace to everyone.

I was hesitant to watch this but I was binging on your excellent interviews. I couldn’t get past the normally excellent introductions when you called his convention speech ‘groundbreaking’. It was more divisive and he’s alienated me as a fan since. Onto the next one!

Another great interview! I recently saw 1966's entertaining "Grand Prix" while putting together a tribute video to Eva Marie Saint, and I was blown away by how jovial, charismatic and sexy Antonio Sabato was in the film- can't believe he didn't have a much bigger career. The still-distractingly handsome ASJ clearly inherited much from the senior Sabato, and I can see why he takes great pride in his family name, and wants to keep succeeding. Also, great to hear he loves movies and watching classic films!

Still sounds right of center, much like me... as a gay man, I've been attacked, but as Sabato has stated in your interview, the facts are the facts... I try to be indifferent to haters... wondering what are Brownstone's politics... my guess.... mmmmmm

Interesting interview. Oh how I was soooooooo in love with him back in the 90s.😍
I was really hoping he would hit big when The Big Hit was released to theaters. I remember being so disappointed that he was hardly in the movie.🫤
With that said, I’m going to push back a little bit. Yes, his political stance put him at arms length BUT what year was he on Dances With Stars… it was 2014. That was way before he gave his speech and endorsement. And it’s pretty well known that the stars they get for that show usually are no longer in demand.
He unfortunately suffered with what other actors face when they are no longer considered bankable or in high demand by that industry, they no longer get a lot of work. Sharon Stone is trying to rewrite her history, too. She’s ignoring how many flops in row she had and is instead saying she was black listed for being an AIDS activist. Not true. She was no longer considered bankable or in high demand.
I’d like to see Antonio Sabato Jr. have a resurgence. I don’t care if he expresses his political beliefs just like I don’t care if George Clooney expresses his.
I’d just like to see folks like him and Sharon Stone stop blaming the alleged “black listing” and see the business for how it is, Hollywood being about making money on actors that are in high demand and bankable. I imagine ego doesn’t allow that truth to enter their thinking but that’s really a big part of what happens.
When it comes to him not having any representation, let’s not forget how vocal he was on social media. His combative posts could have played a big part. I’m not saying they are right for not representing him any longer but that could be what made them drop him.
Hoping for him to have a massive resurgence.
