- This video is a 1 month update on my LEER 100 XR. I go over 3 things I hate about my cap shell and talk about some things I added to make it better. Please subscribe and like this video if you enjoyed it. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Good that you pointed out the things you didn’t like. Pretty much echo my dislikes as well. Happy camping out there.
I just got my leer three weeks ago love it I have a 2016 tocoma trd off road nice set up waiting on the next video
Thanks for watching! If you off road, definitely recommend the clamps!
Awesome rig! Gotta love having a Taco!
Thanks man! Appreciate it!
My Leer leaked 1 year after I got it. Rear window gasket pulled back and leaked. No warranty sucks
Thank you so much for sharing. You have convinced me to get the same front window setup that you have, for ease of cleaning. May I ask where get the D rings you mounted on the roof?
Glad I could help! I got the d rings on Amazon. Not sure how to add a link. But if you search:
Seven Sparta Tie Down Anchors for Truck, Trailer, Warehouse, Boat, 10 Pack of Heavy Duty Steel V Ring Bolts, Tie Down Rings(Black)
It should pop up!!!
@@rushumoutdoors may I ask how you anchor to the ceiling without concerns of leaks? I really like how you set your Tacoma up.
@@gormdragan I used the factory roof rail bolts. I also used a little silicone around the factory screws. I unscrewed them, siliconed a little drop, put in the d ring, and reinstalled the bolts.
Great Video, Same truck same camper, are you able to post a link for the exact clamps you bought off of Amazon to secure the Shell? Thanks
Ignore the question, I see where you answered someone else! =)
I wish leer can make the rear heat burner. My topper hard to see during winter time.
My rear window in my cab has been tinted since I got my truck so I don’t even use my rear view mirror. Lol
Awesome video. What kind of rain guards are you rocking on your cab windows?
Auto Vent Shade
Just curious where you got the bed mat.Lol
What’s the weight on one of these? Also mpg change as a result ? Got the same truck / colour combo and I think the camper works well on them
It’s about 200 lbs, I do have a Sherpa rack on it along with 2 ammo case storage boxes loaded with gear now. I get about 13-15 mpg. I drive from Vegas to California, Utah, Arizona, Idaho, and Oregon about once a month for adventures. So it doesn’t bother me. My 6 inch lift and 33in tires don’t help either. I have a little sag in the back now from all the weight so I will be upgrading to custom deaver leaf springs to fix that.
How is the topper holding up after 1 year? Looking to get the same setup myself. That's the 100XR, right? Looking good my friend 👍
It’s great! Very sturdy and durable. I’ve had to tighten it a few times after off-road trips. It holds and protects all my items as expected.
Hey brother… I live in Vegas too and I noticed a-1 is the only dealer in Vegas. How was your experience with them?
My experience was great. Went in and picked out everything I wanted on my camper. They walked me through the process and made it very easy. Installation was $100 flat. They called me when it arrived. Took about 1 month to arrive. When they installed it, it took about 2 hrs. Very fast and easy.
looking to get A.R.E or Leer for my ranger 5ft bed....wonder which one provides better option from water
so far ARE have seemed to be the better option, imo
Looks great. What’s the cost?
For the options I got it was around 4k. There's only 1 LEER dealership where I am in Las Vegas, NV. I'd call around your local area. I also visited a Snug Top and ARE dealer. I was debating an ARE MX, but the options they had weren't as good and the price was $1-2k more.
Leaking is unacceptable for the price
Totally agree! I’ve heard all of the shells leak on 3rd gens.
All truck caps are going to leak a little every here and there. There’s no way to prevent it 100% because the cap is not physically part of the truck. Mine doesn’t leak from any of the windows though, Just a little from the header. I have the same cap but a different brand and as someone who lives in Florida where it rain sideways every afternoon you do get a little moisture in one side every so often.
@@SteveB88 what camp shell do you use?
@@Indigowarrior111 I have the same style this guy has, but mine is made by a different brand. Ranch truck topper
That is why I want a cap to not have water in the bed, also that is why my house has a roof
where did you get the clamps?, link?
Amazon. The brand is API Clamps. Not sure how to add a link. But if you search this it should pop up.
API Clamps (4 Pack) Silver Compatible with Toyota Tacoma - 2005 & Newer - Mounting Channel Track Truck Topper Cap, Camper Shell
Let me know if that helps.
found it, thanks man. Been having issues with my shell moving when i offroad.
Thank you for sharing solutions for the issues. I have a 2017 access cab Tacoma and heard about the water leakage in all the 3rd gen tacos.
Guess i should be happy i got a solid front window and regular slider windows on the side. No leaks ever
can you link to those bolts please?
Not sure how to add a link. If you search in Amazon or Google:
API Clamps (4 Pack) Silver Compatible with Toyota Tacoma - 2005 & Newer - Mounting Channel Track Truck Topper Cap, Camper Shell
You should be able to find it. Let me know if this helps.
👍🇵🇷😁🙏💪
Is this a 6ft bed?
No its the 5.5ft bed. Short bed
@@rushumoutdoors thanku
Do you sleep in it?
Yes I sleep in it. It I’m 6’2 so I have to angle myself. But I have since gotten a rooftop tent. I need to do an update video soon. I put Sherpa roof racks on both my cab and camper and long with a bunch of new upgrades!
@@rushumoutdoors Thanks.
Is that a kanaka Flag?
Yeah cuz. Born and raised Maui. Living Vegas now.
