    The plug-in Jeep is for the folks who can charge it at home and use it for commutes/errands but also do offroading on the weekends. Some 4xe owners can go almost 1000 miles or more between fillups by only using the battery and charging it every time they get home. But if you're never charging it, then you're not getting its full potential.

    All the reasons you don’t like it is the reasons Jeep people love them lol.

    I’ve had my 2004 2 Wrangler since new. It’s a jack of all trades.
    You want a convertible?
    You want a stick shift?
    You want a 4x4?
    You want a winter rig?
    You want a towable vehicle behind your truck camper or motorhome?
    Something easy to park in town?
    You want something anyone could learn to work on?
    You want parts availability? After market support?
    You got it. There still isn’t anything else like it.
    Name another vehicle you can go online and buy a painted to match fender for when you smash it crawling in the rocks and put it on yourself in 20 mins.
    If you buy a Wrangler for what it is instead of what it isn’t you’ll be happy.
    This has been my experience with a 2 Door TJ with the online 6 and a 5 speed manual. I can’t speak to the newer stuff or the 4 doors.

    I liked the 4runner showcased at the 10 minute mark😎. So much comes to the intersection of preference and finances. If you can afford it and like the way it looks and drives, jump on in and have a great time with it

    To take advantage of all the torque & power, you need to drive it in 4H-Auto. Seems you were in 2H. It's got lots of power. I've had mine since dec 2021 and love it. Excellent overland vehicle. Take top off freedom and take it on trails for great weekend adventures.

    Hey JD love the videos!
    I am looking into trading in my 2012 ford focus she is starting to give me some troubles with 190k miles. Looking at the 2024 Rangers cause it’s affordable and the new body actually looks like a truck now. I was watching reviews on YT and my wife asked if you had one, I said no and she goes “I only trust the big truck guy”. haha it was hilarious

    I'm on my third Wrangler from 2006 and got the first one for a toad. It is my daily driver and love driving it more than the RX7 that I had back in the 2000's. One of the big factors is the resale value, not many vehicles that hold the value as much as a Wrangler. You can take the hard top off and put on the rag top and the doors. I know the gas mileage compared to other SUV's, but like my license plate frame says "It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand". Towing for the 4 door is about 4500lbs and if you get the two door it's 1000lbs. It's not because they are under powered, it's the short wheel base, anything heavier will swap the ends if you want to loose your shit.

    Having owned a couple of older Wranglers They're fun to drive and great off road or really bad weather. Daily I was kinda meh on. Great to teach folks how to drive manual. Taught several with on TJ.

  • @LukeEdward
    @LukeEdward Před 24 dny +1

    Why would anyone get a new Jeep?
    Well, I was looking for a manual transmission, and a pickup, and something that can do some light towing. That combination is one reason I bought my Gladiator Rubicon. Also, February 2024, they were doing insane incentives for the Gladiator. I got a $55k truck for $41k, a couple months ago.
    I’ve daily driven my 2-door JL Wrangler since 2019. I have the turbo 4cylinder eTorque in that one. It will surprise you off the line. It’ll even spin the 35’s I have on it now.
    You tout the turning radius of the F450, and you think THAT Jeep you’re driving has a good turning radius. Well, you’ve never had a better turning radius then a 2-door Wrangler. I can usually turn around in a normal width street.
    I have got a best of 27mpg, too. But, let’s be honest, the mpg is 💩.
    I’ve also enjoyed taking advantage of aftermarket support for them and working on my own vehicle for fun. But I sure as heck don’t add lights like a big rig rich guy would.
    Another reason I like my Jeep(s) is the resale value in ANY market is almost unbeatable.
    Also, I had someone pull out in front of me and I totaled their minivan. I cut off my twisted bumper from around the frame horn, removed the broken lights, plastics, and fender flairs, and put everything back to new with MOPAR parts for less than $2000. Even a new black steel wheel was less than $100. In fact I’ve survived three deer strikes with little, to no damage, because I was driving my Jeep with a steel bumper.
    I’ve survived a horrible West Virginia winter in the mountainous high country with no issue. Ever.
    Lastly, in hurricane seasons in SWFL, I can assist with any search effort to confirm the condition of my friends and family (again). I did it after Irma, and Ian and I sure as heck will the next hurricane cleanup. I’ve pulled trucks twice my size out of rough spots in 3ft deep water as many times as I’ve cleared tree falls from post hurricane roads to my grandmother’s house.
    I’ve been out in the Everglades surrounded by grunting gators, to return for a great lunch in Chokoluskee covered in goo.
    Those are just a few reasons.
    Oh, it suck fuel. It is noisy inside. It’s not the fastest. It’s not the roomiest for a big guy like me. It definitely lacks amenities of some other comparable vehicles. But, when I do errands, and I look back and am content, it’s the vehicle for me. I’ve had a 2-door Wrangler for most of my 30 driving years. It feels right.

    so many RVers tow them because every year there are less and less choices of vehicles that are capable of 4 wheel down towing and most of them are over 5000 pounds when that is the tow limitation of a significant number of motorhomes

  • @thechroniclesofmaintenance4192

    Jeeps are kind of like liver and onions, you either love them or you don't. We looked at the Wranglers as a possible replacement for our Equinox to tow behind the MH. It was a hard pass for us based on daily driver comfort, interior room, and the price is just not a good value for us based on intended use. Still driving and towing our 2014 Equinox with 80k miles on it.

  • @ColJonSquall1
    @ColJonSquall1 Před 24 dny

    Typically most wranglers for a long time only could tow up to 3500lbs, but the changes to the 2024 with the Pentastar v6, it can tow around 5000 now. It came from a rear axle change, where Jeep went to a bigger Dana setup, to allow for more tow capacity.

  • @TheRoadGlideRider
    @TheRoadGlideRider Před 23 dny

    My Jeep Wrangler is a 2001 with 4.0 Straight Six, 2door. It run anywhere, in any weather. My Jeep is my only 4 wheel vehicle. I get 17 to 19 MPG, depending on speed driven. I can take rear seat out for more room. Easy to repair if anything breaks, and low repair cost.
    I will NEVER get a newer Fiat Jeep, especially any EV. 😔

    • @aroundthegroundlandscaping7107
      @aroundthegroundlandscaping7107 Před 24 dny +2

      Nah the 4xe is insane if used correctly. for my wife to commute to work I charge the battery every day and at the end of the week it cost on average is about 7 dollars to charge it for the week crazy cheap. My fuel economy is averaging around 27.5 all the way up to 30 mpg depending on how much we charge it. It is the future and Jeep got it right.

    • @ColtonRMagby
      @ColtonRMagby Před 24 dny

      @@aroundthegroundlandscaping7107 Hybrid vehicles are more complex to maintain than their internal combustion only equivalent, and they're more expensive to replace batteries in. The 4.0 Liter I6 is simple, reliable, and parts are readily available. Hell, you can run those fuel injected OR carbureted, which also means you can have a coil rail OR distributor. Personally, I'd to the carburetor with the coil rail so losing one coil doesn't make it undriveable.

    I want a gladiator because of the size and it appeals more to me. But its the same price as a 1500 ram so its hard to justify. If i got a gladiator its just because i want one. Jeep also does a good job of making owning a jeep as a life style.

    375 hp, 460 lbs.ft of torque. But you have to have it in 4Hi to get all the ponies to show up (same torque as 392 which doesnt have 2Hi). You probably left it in 2Hi the whole time.
