In truth, I think even if its a short video or a compilation of all the garters together, we would love to see all the babies. It's exciting for me every time and I've been watching you for years! We will never get tired of baby snakes.

Tried to compile together all the genetics, to better understand what's being paired in this video c:
Het = carry a recessive gene (het x het = visible)
Albino = Lack of black pigmentation (red eyes)
Hypo/Hypomelanistic = Reduced black pigmentation (normal eyes)
Axanthics = Lack of yellow pigments
White side = White side pattern (with some axanthic traits)
Hybino = Hypo + albino (lack of black, often more yellow expression)
Ghost = Hypo + Axanthic (reduced black, lack of yellow)
"False" ghost/Ivory = Hypo + Whiteside, (reduced black, patternless sides and some reduced yellow)
Snow = Albino + Axantic, (lack of black and yellow pigments)
"False" snow = Albino + Whiteside (lack of black, patternless sides and some reduced yellow)
Patternless = No pattern
Stillwater = Different variant of Hypo (reduced black)
Red phase bull = Normal with more red coloration
Conda = Reduced pattern (co-dominant gene)
Super conda = No pattern with black belly (co-dominant gene)
Lavender = Purple coloration
Sable = Darker/more intense coloration
Purple line = Selective bred for more red coloration
This needs to be pinned because man these genetic traits are a wild endeavor to remember all and study

Emily opening Tiffany’s bin made me laugh at Emily’s hopes and dream journal and then the cupcake in the false water cobra bin. Love it. I’m excited that hognose Audrey is getting paired. Very excited for lavender.
There was also an Onix toy in one of the bins! It was electric blue ^-^. I loved all the little easter eggs. I didn't see the journal though. I think I'll watch again to see what I can find ^-^

I love that when Emily is eating the cupcake she found in the false water cobra, she gets frosting up to her nose. It is just the most realistic way to eat a cupcake. Plus she kind of look like a bunny with it, which is adorable.

Okay. I am VERY curious about all the little easter eggs in this video. The girl scout cookies, the blue dragon, Emily's Hopes and Dreams journal, the picture of the frog with maybe a Christmas hat, the gnome, one setup had either a beer can or a soda can in it, not to mention the random cupcake. I feel like it has something to do with the opening "phone call" and Emily is going to gradually morph into something the next few videos. I dunno. Did anybody else notice stuff?

I don’t mind the baby snakes being repetitive it’s my favourite videos finding and seeing the babies and opening the eggs. You could do it as a series maybe? I would love to watch it.
I don't mind repetitive videos. They don't all have to be surprise clutches. I just love seeing baby snakes and to see what came of all this effort.
Garter snakes have live babies (can’t think of a better way to word it right now) so there is no egg opening with them it’s just finding them all and putting them into baby bins. I do love how small they are though.
When you get your next clutch of ackie eggs try the suspended incubation method where you have a container like a sim container with the bottom filled with just water. They need the humidity and I haven't had luck with perlite or other media like that. The suspended incubation method works best for me.

Call Mr. Wilson's replacement for breeding Dennis the Menace. Since he's younger and more spry, so he can be Mr. Wilson's foil much like his namesake is for the original Mr. Wilson from the comics/TV show/movies :)

Not only do you entertain us by telling us your breeding plans and including us in the potential excitement but you also add subtle funny things in every video to keep things light, humorful and interesting. No one does videos like you guys and im always excited to see what you come out with next ! ♥
My first graders love watching your channel! We watch it the last 20 minutes of class. They have learned so much from this.
I hope they get to watch Clint's Reptiles too! He was even a teacher before being a CZcamsr! Just, while waiting for new Snake Discovery videos to come out that is. He goes over the care and information of a wide variety of animals, including pet children! It's the funniest and cutest non-snake related mother's day video I've ever heard.
Also, because teachers aren't told this enough: thank you so much for everything you do. I have a child in the 7th grade at the moment, and I always make sure his teachers know how much we (hubby and I) appreciate them, mostly for their contribution to society as a whole. Because that sentiment extends to all teachers, I do try to tell as many teachers as I can that their work means everything, and that I am so grateful they chose to enrich the minds of the future. So again, thank you ♡.

@@Nightshada2 Any time! Another couple that you may like are Animalogic (they have a series on interesting plants too) and Scishow. Scishow is all around science, and there is some adult stuff they cover, but the adult stuff (like information about mating and what not) is generally contained within the video it's in. So like, a video about cats landing on their feet for example, won't even bring up anything mating related. They have a whole kid's section... or perhaps its a channel. I don't remember, but a look through thwir all about cats playlist can get you the answer. They have a kid targeted video in that particular list.
Another good thing about Clint is that he talks in a similar way to Emily. The way I describe it is "as though everyone in the world is 5 and learning this for the first time, but we are also not being condescended to." I even talked toy fiance SO much about the differences between tortoises and non tortoise turtles that I found him looking it up today. I learned the difference from Clint (I'm pretty sure he even has a PHD in animal related something or other. Forgive me, few years back I was found to have a blood disorder that near gave me brain damage. My memory has not been up to speed since... and I didn't have much to work with to begin with lol) and so I directed my fiance back toward the very video I learned from. It's an empowering feeling to be able to teach someone the knowledge few have, and I do remember as a kid, it was even more exhilirating to show off little tidbits of knowledge, so I just know the kids in your class are getting so much already out of learning with Emily, I can only imagine how hapoy Clint will make them too.
Sorry for all of the rambling, I wanted to be a teacher myself, and my chronic health problems (well before the blood disorder) ended that before it ever began. I'm no longer able to work at all, and get super antsy about it sometimes. I'm also an artist, and I had initially wished to be an art teacher. Luckily I can still do art every now and again, but I get my love for teaching put by suggesting things to people. I may have gotten a little over excited by the fact that you are also a teacher haha. I hope I didn't annoy ya, and I hope you have a great day/night. And again, thank you!

I wouldn't feel too bad for Brad and Mr. Wilson. It might be nice to not have to expend energy breeding this year and to just relax.

I have a toffee belly, pastel hognose so I was so excited, and then sad, that it didn’t happen last year! Fingers crossed all goes well this year! I heard the morph called ‘vanilla cherry’ . I don’t know nearly enough about morph names to know how accurate that is, I just thought he was cute 🥰. I do know pastels are unproven so curious to see what y’all find out !
I know this is kinda minuscule, but I just thought I’d say I love that you guys make a little clip at the beginning that doesn’t show up in the video. Cause usually people who make a beginning clip just spoil a big climax in the gameplay and it makes it less surprising :( so I appreciate it!!❤️😊

I’m so bummed I didn’t get on the waitlist this year, I sent my email less than three minutes after the Patreon post 😩 especially since I got on last year and none of the snakes bred that I wanted. BUT!! I’m so excited to at least see the babies on the channel! Let’s hope for a better season this year! ❤️🐍
These aren't the only snake breeders in the country.
I get it. If I were to buy from a breeder I'd want someone who I feel loved and cared for their snakes and doesn't just keep them in drawers on news paper and nothing else.
I understand why you'd prefer to get snakes from Emily & Ed...
I understand wanting one from these folks, but I highly recommend Jason Nelson from Envy reptiles, he really knows his stuff.
@@lacymcknight5043 No, but its obvious how much they care for their animals and most people don't want to support breeders who don't provide well enough and only see their animals as a payday. Researching good breeders (who often have long waitlists) is a lot of work and you really don't want to make a mistake.
If the snake is healthy and socialized, does it matter whether it has enrichment before it gets to you? Snakes don't know or care if you love them, they just want fed and maybe a hide. There's plenty of good breeders who don't have CZcams channels, which is the only reason people want their snakes so bad. Do a little research and you'll find a breeder as good as Ed and Emily, and probably cheaper.
I just love how enthusiastic you guys are and how much you love your snakes.
I only have 1 ball python but find the genetics amazing with breeding.
A lot goes into deciding who to pair to who. I love watching. It must be so exciting seeing the morphs of the babies xx

As someone has mentioned, I'd love to see them compare what they thought the breeding plans would be and how it ends up. It'd be very entertaining and interesting as a series. I'd love to see it. Best wishes to Brad with her recovery. And for babies you might keep, this might be early on, but I'd love to see snakes name after months or snakes named Laney, Dakota or Hungary. A 6 year old (my sister) suggests Pringles. And is no one gonna question the thin mints 8:18?

The boy at 4:08 is so pretty! I love how he goes from yellow and white then gets darker in the middle then fades to the lighter colors again. He definitely needs a name to highlight how cool that is. Maybe like Gradient, but that doesn't sound like a name, so maybe Grady for short?

I absolutely love hognose snakes excited to see the future babies! But the size difference between males and females is always crazy to me.
Hope you gets lots of lavenders this year 💜 it was great meeting the both of you at NARBC Tinley. I'm sure you met so many people but I actually first ran into you at a local restaurant Thursday night 😉 I was able to get the lavender hognose male I was on the search for. I named him Milo 💜🐍

By the way Emily and Ed you could also pair the snow to a superconda which can make snow superconda hognose snake which does exist, for your information.
Edit: You could also make an axanthic superconda.
I think it would have to be a conda snow in order to get snow supercondas.

I spent a few weeks binge watching all old videos and I'm hoping y'all get some great clutches this year! I'm still too afraid to handle snakes in real life, but I'm more than comfortable to watch and show support from behind my laptop screen! super excited to see what comes of this years breeding season! thank y'all again for making me realize I was totally WRONG in thinking snakes were all scary, danger noodles. I've grown fond of your collection of snekkssss and maybe one day I can talk my brother (whom loves reptiles) into taking a trip to Minnesota to come to SD zoo!
