- This is documentary about the process of how leather knife sheaths are made by the Northmen guild's leather craftsman Stephen.
After the oil dye is applied carnauba creme and then beeswax, neatsfoot oil and orange turpentine mixture and polished in.
We use Tippman Boss leather stitcher just for making the holes in the leather. Stitching by hand makes better quality stitch.
We use thick waxed jewellery 3 cord linen thread and blunt stitching needles.

I love this style of advertising. Channels like Northmen and The North Face know how to really appeal to their potential customers and actually sell quality products
Finally without BGM video! I love it!
The ONE channel that I hit thumbs UP before I even start watching!
Ohhh very nice, I like how he cut down the centre then removed the excess to allow a nice fold as well as how he finished off his hand stitching
True craftsmen and artist!
Yes. Don't stop.
DUDE! Northmen and HTR are my two favourite YT channels, and here YOU are!!???!?!? *pure fangirl excitement*

Thank you .
got to love the sound of dremel!
I love the sound of that razor cutting the leather. It's almost addictive. I was fascinated with the sewing too. I am also a craftsman, and I sew for a living. It's fascinating to me to see him using two needles! Wonderful idea!
진짜 힐링되는 영상
👍Завораживает такая работа))
Excellent. The only thing I miss in this video is the smell of leather.
amazing
Cool vidio
Awesome

good job You are big an Arter.
Безупречно! И без лишних слов.
Stunning craftsmanship 👍
Would heating to leather help the beeswax penetrate deeper? If so, would the heat damage the heather much? I'm about to make my first sheath and still going through ideas on weatherproofing it. My plan was to neetsfoot then hot beeswax on top. Open to other suggestions.
Thats what i call...a sewing maschine.
it is wonderful 👏️👍☺️
Ilex what? Pls rnglish
They deserve the price.
What dye (color) are you using? Awesome job by the way!

Que productos usas para dar ese brillo y acabado al cuero
Машина BOSS для пробивания отверстий - это такой пресс или швейная машинка? Крутые ножны получились!

google job.You are good an Arter
The pro tip is the used sock!
Where do you get your leather and from what animals do you use?
How could 9 people dislike this
Please explain some of the process & why it's necessary so we can learn something from it... Thanks.
Gee, I love the fact that there is no talking. If you want talking, watch a video by an American doing the same thing. The video will take an hour, and they'll spend half of that talking about themselves, and asking for thumbs up, and don't forget to hit the subscribe button! You can hear them talk as much as you want.
every second of this was riveting
Where is the movie of making that knife??
What happened to your how to make fire wood by hand video?
Hi dear
I try to make knife sheath from cow natural leather but it was too difficult to cut and when I socked the leather in hot water it's become like stone when dryed not easy for sawing what it is my mistake
Regards waiting your advice
Is the cow leather wrong choice
What type of leather you advice
Make your knife as sharp as possible, strop it to a razor edge, it will make cutting the leather so much easier. Don't soak it before cutting, use hot water only for wet forming as it will stiffen the leather as you've already seen. I use disposable razor blades and strop them on a leather strop with polishing compound, 9oz leather cuts like butter if the knife is sharp enough.
☝️👍💯💯💯
What does the rotary device do to the leather?
Sai Skanda It is burnishing the leather I believe
enderstenders96 oh cool! I wonder how that motion finishes of the edges... Maybe I don't know enough about leather as a material.
But is the wooden head of the too by any çhance hot?
Sai Skanda It seals the edges with wax so no dirt can get in the leather pores. Also leaves nice smooth finished edge.
Sai Skanda I wouldn’t know, I’m sure it gets warm at least.
It burnishes it, basically lays down all the fibers and makes it smooth.
Looks like a dream job :)
I wonder what the price of complete knife is :)
you can find it on their website :)
Yolo Swaggins hmmm was searching for it before (cause this "how is it made" video was part of some longer video released some time ago) and kinda was not able to find out. Gonna try again, thanx dude :)
we already seen this on another video
is that just hardwood on the dremel to burnish it?
Yes. Simple as it is.
I have an oak disc I out on a bench grinder that I made. It works well for me. I do large pieces of leather so I needed something big. I have not every thought about using a Dremel with a small disc for tight corners. Have always just burnished it in with my bone. Thanks for the video and ideas
No song?
It's very nice work, but I dont understand why so many just refuse to use a traditional saddle stitch? It's such a shame.
5;23 what is he doing there?
Stunningly done true craftsmanship , but I disagree in the way your fold was done for true legacy work which this is. That folded area is going to crack over time you can already see the fractures in the leather just a thought I believe it should be wet before bending just one old farts thoughts . And over my 75 years I've seen a lot of crack leather and many items who's days were cut short just because of this one thing it takes years but it's like gravity it always there.
Yea hi I'm a teenage girl and Australian cAN I JOIN THE NORTHMEN
Dang cut away!cut AWAY!! scary
It's a pretty video but to show all this effort and craftsmanship without explaining a single aspect of it feels like a complete waste and relegates this to craft porn instead of something informative.
Absolutely beautiful!
