The most powerful music I have ever heard. It's mind blowing.
Love that professor Snape directs symphonies on his off days
🤣
There's a lot you don't know about Professor Snape
Just messaged the same two years later and I only knew.❤
Every Navy Ship has a nickname. My ship was built & commissioned in 1960, the year the Magnificent Seven movie came out. Our hull number was 7.
Guess what our Nickname was?
I attended a reunion with 45 of the guys we went to Vietnam and back with, in Tucson about 3 weeks ago.
Whenever the ship completed a difficult operation, we would play our song on our topside loud speakers!
To this day, my cell phone ringer music is this.
That is epic @pastorart1974! Thank you for your service.
The magnificent 7 is my favourite western of all time 👍👍👍.
Love it as well . Also love Josey Wales.
Easily one of the top 3 movie scores of all time. Anyone over a certain age instantly recognizes it and the memories it brings. This performance is lovely and captures the majesty of the score.
I believe filmed in Spain? Wonderful movie but the I saw it at the launch. My Father in Law recorded Cowboy Movies on an expensive, Bang & Olufson, VHS Recorder and watched all the B&W Films on an Expensive Bang & Olufsen Colour TV, the biggest you could buy.
This is just excellent. It is hard to imagine this version of The Magnificent Seven being played any better!
One of the greatest westerns of all time.
Not one of the greatest, it is the greatest.
Nope - the music is great, the movie was mediocre.
The best Western film evermore with two great actors Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen
Bravo! Too many orchestras play this piece too slowly. This is exactly the correct tempo. Loved it.
The thing I love about classical music is that you can feel the dedication hard work, perfection ,discipline, love and sacrifice that these artists made to their craft.
It's worth looking at the faces of the musicians at the end; they knew they had produced a truly special rendition of this great piece.
I can never understand how someone composes music like this? Do they hear in their head? get inspired by something maybe see it, I dont know how they come up with music. Being an artist myself I know where a certain color or brush stroke would look, thats easy as you can look at it and know, but music, thats magic. So much respect fo the composers who makes art with music.
Trickester 5: You expressed my amazing frustration very well! (Thinking about all that John Williams has composed, and often in a short amount of time, boggles my mind!)
You don't start out as a maestro learn to whistle for a start
@@greg4673 my question is how does one visualize it, for example, for a painting I know where the light is coming from amd where the shadow is, so the colors are decided already, how does a musician or a composer do that? do they know where te brass would come in where the strings would work? how do they come up with what goes where
Elmer Bernstein was the Master of reaching your soul with his craftmanship...
Most composing starts at the piano - plink, plink, plink
I saw this film more than 60 years ago. Fantastic western, lovely music, great cast. Cannot forget Yul Brynner, Napoleon Solo, the macho Charles Bronson.and certainly the Mexican gang leader Eli Wallach.
Napoleon Solo in 'Man from UNCLE' was played by Robert Vaughn. And yes it is a memorable classic western film.
I loved James Coburn's character too. They were all the epitome of cool.
make me cry...because my dad loves so much this film.
And this absolutely magnificent orchestra with a great conductor, remind me Severius Snape
Truly one of the greatest Westerns ever made! And thank you, Elmer Bernstein, for helping to make it so!
Actually, it's "Sever Samurai" with pistols instead of swords.
@@pickanotherid6646 No doubt. And done beautifully!
@@pickanotherid6646 Kind of like the cow coming home since Kurosawa enjoyed and heavily used early Hollywood western beats. Great movie no matter how it was arrived at.
The good, the bad and the ugly is probably the best ever western.
My sentiments also. My favourite movie of all time
Seen it at least 30 times. Nearly word perfect
Will be watching again many rimes
The audience loved it!... ...listen to the applause!
love that the guy in the horn section wore his cowboy hat. He must have said "if we are going to do this, lets do it right"
Good observation, bravo to you too
Out of place
Don't forget the belt buckle.
No one in the horn section wore a hat. That was a trumpet. Tromba, not il corno. Trompeta in Spanish.
🎶🎺🎺🎺🎺
This has to be one of my all-time favourite music themes that just always brings me back to memories of wonderful times as a kid, young adult and now approaching towards my 60's. I love it!!!
I’ve listen to this song over 1000 plus times. I know ever pitch and I must say this is the best rendition.
Bravo Bravo Bravo!
Hi,
is it song or just music ?
@@MM-wz5lk
It should be music. Had a few bourbon’s when I posted at 2am. Btw you must be on summer break from teaching. Probably an English teacher too.
I disagree. The original soundtrack still stands tall.
Professionally and beautifully performed music by one of the greatest A-list film composers of all time, Elmer Bernstein.
The Grand Canyon Suite, Ferdie Grofe, composed in 1929 to 1932, probably had no idea how many people would hear his music. Fantastic and the movie is, in a roundabout way, a tribute to him.
Alongside Jerome Moross' "The Big Country", the most iconic off all Western film scores. Aaron Copland's influence looms large.
What about Henri Mancini?
yep, he's up there with John Williams!
Dare I say that was
Magnificent!
One of the first movies I ever saw in a cinema!
What a cast!
What a soundtrack!
Every cast member of the seven went on to great fame and glory.
My first movie I ever saw was gotzila the original in 1959!!!!! jajajajaja no music!!!
We get it, magnificent was a pun to the movie.
@@Ace1King1 Not so for Brad Dexter.
One of the best movie themes ever!!
NOT ONLY IS THE WESTERN THEME SONG BY THE LATE, GREAT COMPOSER ELMER BERNSTEIN FOR ONE OF THE GREATEST WESTERNS EVER MADE FROM "THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN"...IT'S THE ABSOLUTE GREATEST WESTERN THEME SONG OF ALL TIME BUT IT WILL ALWAYS TEST OF TIME!!! NOTHING OUT THERE EVEN COMES CLOSE!!! MAY THE ALMIGHTY BLESS YOU, SIR...FOR GIVING US A GOD-DAMN CLASSIC!!! DOC
Absolutely love film scores and this is one of the best.
To see professor Snape conducting is a huge plus.😉
I gave this a standing ovation for 15 minutes straight!
This is so wondeful, took me back. The Magnificent Seven and The big country became cult movies for us 18 year olds in London. Superb rendition, sent shivers down my spine.
Felicidades Maestro Constantino Martínez-Orts.
What an absolutely beautiful rendition!….and the gentleman with the cowboy hat,I just loved it….so well played.
Yes indeed. This does lift one's spirits... especially in times like these!
Muy bueno
Yes it does Steven. I can see Steve Mcqueen and Yul Brynner.😊 riding to find the help
Steven, it always lifts my spirits. Thank you!
JOHN WAYNE ETAIT DANS LA SALLE, je l'ai vu applaudir à ce chef d' œuvre !!!
I think I was about 16 when this film came out. By the fifth note I was totally overwhelmed.
My mother's all time favorite song. She is responsible for my love of original soundtrack music, may she rest easy.
I agree about about The 🎺🎺🎺🎺Trumpet Player with The 🐂🐂🐂🐂COW BOY HAT ! Looks GREAT !
This is just magnificent. I think the ending is even better than the original. I play this 5 times a day, and was even found myself humming it in the supermarket today. Congrats to all at the FSO.
One helluva Western with a magnificent soundtrack by Elmer Bernstein! Well done, bravo!
One of the best videos of this song, and concert, showing all the musicians at work. Well done.
I can see that Magnificent Seven now! And.... they were magnificent!
Where would we be without music, the people that studied it and play the instruments. You appreciate it more, when you realize how difficult it is to master the instrument and the constant practice to be a perfectionist. I admire professionalism in music.
Great to see how it's actually performed by an orchestra and the contributions of all the instruments. The percussion, the bass from the trombone section, never notice the flutes. This is great.
The film was an "ok" western... and became ONE OF THE GREATEST FILMS OF ALL TIMES... because this MASTERPIECE music!
When you listening this music, you ARE ON the back of a horse, back then, in the Wild West!
One of the best movie scores ever!
THE MOVIE "THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN" IS ONE OF BEST WESTERN EVER MADE!!! THE CASTING AND DIRECTOR WERE OUTSTANDING...BUT THE MUSICAL SCORE BY THE LATE LEONARD BERNSTEIN IS NOT ONLY THE ABSOLUTE BEST WESTERN THEME SONG EVER RECORDED...IT'S A DAMN CLASSIC!!! WILL ALWAYS STAND THE TEST OF TIME!!!!! DOC
To me this is freedom and open spaces put into music, love it!
One of the iconic theme music worth listening any number of times.
"You came back. For a place like this. Why? A man like you. Why?"
"Nobody throws me my own gun and says 'Run."
I love that line too👍👍
We deal in lead friend
"because it's in the script!"
I loooved this movie and the theme belongs on any list of all time best!
Excellent interpretation of a piece that is much more challenging than it looks like
Absolutely terrific One of the best renditions of an American classic by any orchestra even in The US.Fabulous my hats of to them
Professor Snape looked like he almost frightened half the strings into dropping their instruments at the beginning.
Ditto, the guy with the Stetson. But the live score here is simply amazing. Fantastic work people.
That was no Stetson, but any western hat would've been nice here.
Well, there's always one Maverick in the bunch. 🤠
@@dustymiller65 the hat was perfect
Powerful, just like the movie.
That was awesome..the guy in the Stetson, the whole orchestra seemed to be enjoying themselves, the climactic ending...Professor Snape conducting...simply brilliant.
I had the same thought: prof. Snape working his magic!
Born in the 50's,raised in the 60's...Loved the music in the 70's..As in the 2000s
Besides the guy in the cowboy hat, I really loved the conductor in his clerical cassock. Plus all his enthusiasm! Oh yes. The very best rendition I have seen and heard, and I have seen most of them.
How about the girl, second row from the back, she brought her bazooka in. In case of enemy fire :-)
Agreed, and that's a high bar.
I would have loved to have been at this concert, I know its been many years, but brao, to all of these fine young musicians. their rendition of this tune is still bringing joy to people today
One of the absolute best ever western movies ever produced. Believe it or not it the plot line came from the Japanese movie "The seven Samari". Another great movie. Even now at age 70 I still catch this movie whenever I can. If anybody is old enough to have seen this movie on the big screen it was a real experience. I myself saw it with my father at the drive in in 1960. Very few westerns or movies in general can match it. No wonder Marlboro cigarettes bought the rights to the song for their advertisements.
This was the break away music for my first ship the USS Henry B Wilson DDG-7, a guided missle destroyer. We played it every time we broke away from refueling or resupplying. I remember the Hammerin Hank every time it's played.
Wasn't your ship, DDG -7 known as " The Magnificent 7", or was that some one else's ship I read about.
@@johnbockelie3899 The Hammerin Hank or Lucky Seven. At one time, the NVA had a price posted on her..
Love the arrangement, that bass tuba like thing the French Horns, all the 'strings', and the Darth Vadar conductor. Magnifico!
They are playing my song!
I served on the USS Henry B Wilson (DDG-7). I went back and forth across the Pacific Ocean on that big grey canoe, with a big "7" painted on its hull. Our ship was Commissioned in 1960 about the time this movie came out, so one of our ship's nicknames was, "The Magnificent Seven".
I went to Vietnam and back aboard that ship in 1971.
In May of 1975 that ship proved how Magnificent it was by its rescue of the SS Mayaguez. Which was the last battle of the Vietnam War.
Thank you for your service sir
"GREAT HISTORY"👍👏
The music of my wonderful America...loved all over the world. This music so defines our boldness and sweeping majesty, yet the tenderness and beauty as well. Music really is a gift from God.
When we were growing up and watched these big screen movies, little did we know how much incredible and talented work went into the themes ! Awesome 👌
Wow!!!! thats why this has 101,919 views we need more thumbs up, folks
And now, just a couple of years later it has 1,288,639 views. Not bad.
Fantastic. Close your eyes and there are the seven riding into town
This conductor saw the movie. The whole orchestra saw the movie! This version has life and action! It explodes off the stage! Well done! Whoop dee do! Is that better, linguistics teacher?
I concur. I’m old enough to remember seeing the movie in the theater in the small town in Oklahoma where I grew up. Even now every time I see it the music sets the tone and puts me in the mood for a great movie.
If meant to be plural you should say "Bravi" instead of "Bravo"...
Then for a single woman "Brava" and if more than one "Brave".
PS: I'm italian
PPS: Yes I eat pasta almost every day
@@alessiocancian1687 I bet the pasta you all eat is not the same stuff that gets passed off as pasta in the U.S. I watch movies like The Godfather and Goodfellas and think I’ve never had real Italian food, especially the sauce. At the end of Goodfellas he was in witness protest and said the pasta tasted something like noodles with ketchup.
When I was in the Navy we had R&R in Hong Kong. The Chinese food there was light years better than the stuff they call Chinese food in the U.S.
The original version is still the best.
@@slundgr so what does your eating habits have to do with this movie? what a dork u r.....
Nothing short of perfect. I have seen many others. All good, but this the absolutely the best.
Not only a potions master but a symphonic conductor to boot. Lol. Great job by everyone, a real treat.
Wonderfull music from a unforgetable movie!Greetings from Brazil!
Wonderful rendition! Ah, you can smell the great West in these notes! Of course, this theme was also used for many years as the Marlboro Man. I also enjoy that the orchestra colleagues are so proud of each other (see the other trumpet players clap for their colleague). I am learning this piece on the piano, and it’s harder than it appears - many key changes, very tricky rhythms.
One of the finest examples of counterpoint I have ever heard. Beautiful blended themes and spirited tempo.
People say movie scores aren't "real music" because they rely on visuals to give them meaning, but this is an example that doesn't. The music is stirring all on its own without even referencing the movie.
A great movie, made timeless by what may have been the greatest movie score of all time!
Just listening to this has me wanting to watch that old classic again...even though I know each characters’ lines cold. Great movie and soundtrack.
In the late 60's in So Cal on channel 9 there was the Million Dollar Movie @ 8 pm Mon thru Fri--& twice each on Sat & Sun--showing THE SAME MOVIE, so I ended up seeing the M7 6-8 times 2 or 3 times a year!
"We deal in lead, friend."
Such a beautiful rendition of this. The maestro is a true artist politely
acknowledging his colleagues when they say something to him during the performance. I like the gentleman in the cowboy hat, a nice idea. Really is a great collaboration. Glad you posted it.
Great rendition of the original, I got saddle sore from listening to it. Thank you. 💔
What's great about this is the robustness of the brass contrasted with the sweetness of the strings. Oh yeah, and the conductor almost dancing at different points in the score!
Flawless Magnificent Seven Symphony

I agree with your comment completely. The key really IS to get Trudeau out - arrogant, self-serving and jet-setting Justin has already done enough damage to this country!
I loved the movie. Yul Brynner wow! The music 🎵🎵🎵🎵 is awe inspiring.
The Great ..ELMER BERNSTEIN
Brillante!!!
Felicitaciones!!!
I love to watch a symphony working together, after having heard this so many times. It wears well.
Best movie theme ever, and they did a great job with it! Such an inspiring piece of music.
Love this! Beautiful ...evokes riding under the open sky.
This was indeed terrible! How dare they play this theme so well! The audacity! It's almost like they enjoyed playing this theme! I'm absolutely aghast as to how well they played it!
I am a huge fan of Hugo Montenegro and my father took us to the drive in where we watched every Spaghetti Western that Cling Eastwood starred in:The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More. I had stolen his Movie theme 8 track "Paint Your Wagon" just to hear these songs. The CT Hurricanes Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps makes the Magnificent Seven their signature song and they KILL!
The first 10 minutes are some of the greatest in film history!
To me this is the best rendition of the greatest cowboy movie. Love the conductor
I used to listen to the record made for this movie as a child. It was one of my favorites. Great job!
If the world worked how a philharmonic orchestra does, we wouldn't worry.... :) Beautiful! Thank you!
A true Classic..........
IT'S REALLY AMAZING THAT A SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA FROM SPAIN PLAYS THIS MAGNIFICENT WESTERN THEME SONG AND YOU CAN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE FROM ELMER BERNSTEIN'S VERSION!!!!! DOC
THE GREATEST WESTERN THEME SONG IN ALL OF CRIMEA WILL ALWAYS STAND THE TEST OF TIME!!! THANK YOU...THE LATE ELMER BERNSTEIN FOR GIVING FOR US MILITARY VETERANS FOR THE "CLASSIC" YOU RECORDED!!! LIKE THE "DOC" HAS ALWAYS SAID...THAT MASTERPIECE WILL ALWAYS STAND THE TEST OF TIME!!! R.I.P. YOU WERE MAGNIFICENT!!! DOC
Damn!!!! Everytime I listen to this number I actually want to get on my steed (read stallion of a motorcycle) and ride hard into the sunset. Goosebumps galore!!!!
A suoerb performance of Elmer Bernstein's magnificent theme for the film Magnificent Seven. Elmer was the magnificent one himself (anyone who can compose this gem AND Ghostbusters, AND Animal House themes is utterly brilliant.
Yeah, that cowboy hat is his tribute to the melody, well done man!
