I never thought I would had to use this feature being from the South, but after this recent and rare snowstorm I've experienced here in Houston, Texas, I was able to get my Grandmother to safety by driving on the thick and snowy streets. Thanks!!!
Wow! Thank you so much for showing this snow button because I’m going to buy a 2005 Highlander next week and I was curious about the car during snow storm. Now I can drive with confident. Thank you!
AFAIK, the 'ECT' on the button desgnates disabled traction control. Subarus and many other snow country cars have a similar button. It is counterintuitive that you want to *disable* your electronic traction control, but there's good reason for it. ECT or ETC senses when a wheel is spinning and disables that wheel, transferring torque to the other wheels. In deep snow, sand, or mud, or if you high-center the car, traction control can thus freeze *all four tires*, leaving you unable to claw your way free. Disabling TC forces the wheels to rotate, and with a little luck, a couple floor mats, and somebody pushing on the fender, you might just brute force your way out of trouble. As soon as you get free of the deep stuff, re-engage your TC. It can help prevent a spinout on intermittantly slick pavement.
I've never used this button. But now when I switch to a real wheel drive from my current awd drive lexus I won't worry. The reason. I have the awd was for snow. I live n p.a but I want a gsf I have a gs f sport. Two diff cars. But the gsf does not come In awd. But it has snow mode so now I don't mind giving up my awd system for 500 hp..lol
So i have a 2021 lexus rc300 and it has this mode...i put it on when its pouring 🌧️ in California lol .I also had the same car 2017yr it had it too, but i didn't feel a difference when i hit the button..I don't know I'm researching cuz I might move to Colorado one day and all-wheel drive costs more! it's already a $58,000 car
I have snow mode but never use it. I don't have to worry about snow but was wondering if it would work in heavy rain? I mean it helps with traction so I would think it would.
Does it only do this only when taking off from park or also while on the road stopping and going I wonder. And I'm wondering what the difference is between this and traction mode as I have both buttons right next to each other in my lex
Basically Snow Mode in the older Highlanders etc just keeps the engine from shifting down to 1st gear. It doesn’t matter whether you’re going from park to drive, or from a dead stop to a start. You’re putting the engine in gear both ways.
cali818 I wouldn’t use it in normal driving but if you want to save gas, I do have this video. 5 simple steps to help you maximize fuel economy czcams.com/video/94AH53lnDho/video.html
Dude, in the end of the video I actually mentioned my Highlander is a 2wd... I did mention it. If you either didn’t watch the entire video or are too dumb to pay attention that’s not my fault.
Thanks, but I quite clearly show the snow button, the snow button light on the dash, and I say quite clearly that it starts you in second gear instead of first when taking off so you don’t spin out. Pay attention next time.

Get used to it. Climate change is coming to town...and staying for good.
Whether in snow mode or not, I always slip around. My car, on the other hand, does really well in the snow.
After 5 other videos, THIS is the BEST explainer! and great production value. Thank you !!!

Denial, you are one no the best CZcams's in the program! 👍 the shortest but the best "class"👍
Snow mode helps a lot, I've used it extensively in the mountains of Washington, Colorado, and Wyoming. 2017 Highlander awd
Thanks. Our first trip to Tahoe and it will be snowing. So this was helpful as we never drove in snow before. We own a 2018 highlander.
I have a 2015 Lexus RX350 and snow mode works great 👍🏼

This will come in handy in canada off roading in the Arctic
underrated video
Probably locks the AWD on
Underrated video
The only good video on the topic.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for your good explanation but I would like to ask that can I use ECT SNOW when my car stuck in the mud?
I don’t see why not, all it does is start you in 2nd gear. Just don’t drive on regular dry pavement on snow mode
Daniel's Car Talk Channel why cant drive on regular pavement?
Nah you need Mud Mode for that.
@@cokaneds u wrong 🤣🤣🤣
wish i known this a week ago. i hit a puddle and did a 3mph 360. it was so stupid.
What kind of tires do you have on there? Snow tires or regular?
Gracias señor
Great video!...thanks!
Pollock Pines is so pretty with all of the snow.

It is also in the Lexus LS430
Does nothing for the LS430 I owned one. The highlander and RX330 are all wheel drive
What is better FWD or AWD? Lexus RX300 2001 year
Tires are probably the number 1 reason for bad traction
Always wondered
So can I drive at highway speed with this ECT snow button turned on or is it just for slow speeds or both?
It’s not for highway
I have snow mode but never use it. I don't have to worry about snow but was wondering if it would work in heavy rain? I mean it helps with traction so I would think it would.
Was that a 2wd or a awd ?
Zubair Zulhaj 2wd

does this mean it's 4wd?
if it will start inn 2nd gear when in snow mode....does that mean you can save gas if you will turn it on during normal driving?

Gr86 AT has snow mode.
Where'd you get that roof rack
Amazon for about $65 if I remember right.
All they did was drive over it. Should have drove down it like driving down a street
Dude, question is your highlander 4wd or 2wd... why not bother to mention something that is central to traction? Are you easy to confuse?
Dude, in the end of the video I actually mentioned my Highlander is a 2wd... I did mention it. If you either didn’t watch the entire video or are too dumb to pay attention that’s not my fault.
u have a great voice lol
Adam Leon Thank you.
the lack of any kind of emotion on his face reminds me of PTSD from the Polar Express
How fast can you drive with snow mode on
Recommended not to go over 75 mph.
1,000,000
Thanks, but you failed to point out the snow button or any gear for snow mode in the vehicle. Be a better teacher next time.
