SORRY FOLKS: This is Not the Same Movie as Last Shift. I think the Director experiment with something that was Not Broke. LShift: was more of a Sleeper Cult / B-Movie like the VOID. It was good because it starts out as nothing monumental. Just a few harmless bumps in the night, then slowly blossoms into a Heart Wrenching Horror movie.
Malum is just Ok. The DIFFERENCE? (1) The mystery of what happened to her Father and Mother relationship was Overly-Worded & Heavy Handed and missing the creative story telling aspect. (2) The simplicity of Last Shift was more effective, consisting of just the Sargent and her on a boring patrol -at night. But in Malum the COPS seem innately EVIL; and "Clumsily Hateful" towards Her from the start. (3) Malum also uses many Politically Correct cliches and stereotypes: Like where two punks throw meat at her and say "Watch it Piggy" And a contrived Anit-Female/ Post George-Floyd vibe. THUS throughout the picture, Maulum lacks the creativity of being Subtle, yet has more money for production.
