I am on this troop, No 3 Guard, Scots Guards just right of the officer. My last Troop.. Such happy memories
My dad is one of those grenadier guards always forever proud xx
how I long for these days, is was 17 and at the guards depot doing my training as a junior guardsman, alamein platoon.
Another world! What a pride!
The standard back in 78 was far better than what we see today .
And the guards back then were all slim, lean and the same height
@@patriot4786 they were pretty much in my day too (mid 90's-mid 2000's). Many of them look like a bag of shit nowadays in comparison. I was in The Queen's Company 1 Gren Guards so was probably spoilt in that regard. The minimum height restriction for the Company was 6 feet, so we were all pretty well sized off. And we didn't have any proper fatties.
Not so sure about that, I’m seeing a lot more mistakes here than in today’s parades
@@Mindos2055 I disagree what ever mistakes were not major to the onlooker theres no one out of step I see todays soldiers in the Guards are small fat not well turned out there uniforms are hanging not tailor made the officers shout out wrong orders there out of step and just dont look like Guardsmen this is a refection to those that train them and the governments response to recruiting were they will take anyone who can hold a rifle of course with the army at about 70 000 what you expect we have more in the postal service that army.
@@Mindos2055 Btw Is this the shire on your Australian videos trying to march LOL I marched better in the boy scouts .
These standards went with the guards depot.
I'm in that escort, front rank, 20 years old. Support company.
Ex jock guard I,m on this parade no fatties no black no beards just fit young men proud to be serving in there regiments blue red blue forever
Isn't the only VC recipient from Iraq black?
I should think the most difficult thing the ensign has to do is to recover the colors from saluting the Queen without losing step.
37:17 that soldier in the front middle probably got a good bollocking from his superiors, he didn't give an eyes right
Looks like that guy did it on purpose
He was dressing off or guiding the officer (Subaltern) in front of him. As in, making sure the officer wasn't too far forward/back/left/right. Because the officers aren't shoulder to shoulder like the lads are, it's difficult for them to dress off correctly and ensure they aren't wondering off. So the lad directly behind each officer is given the task of guiding them. If you watch enough Troop's the camera will occasionally catch the fella calling out to the officer and correcting him left or right etc. Luckily the 2 Troop's I did I was down the left hand side so didn't get that task, because I've been assured it's a sh*t one depending on how much of a lunatic your allocated officer is.
@@Grenadier96nice explanation. What year did you do the trooping?
@@patriot4786 I was on 1999 and 2001 mate.
@@Grenadier96 wow, nice.. So you did it two times?? How would you get to participate in trooping 2 times, as usually we hear the narrator say guardsmen participate it 1 time only
8 guards you dont get that today
41:19 ugh!😖
That was terrible lol
