These old buildings are beautiful and have so much character with large old hand hewn timbers. I’m so glad they have not been torn down.

I grew up in an old farmhouse and I was never so happy as when I could live in a new house without 100-year-old dirt to deal with. Hats off to you, Benita, for saving the treasures and restoring the house. It's still all just old stuff to me!!

A new house will become an old house, if it lasts that long, most new houses definitely not built to last. Also all houses get dirty if you don’t clean them. ❣️
I grew up in a 200 year old house. We moved to a brand new house after 15 years and I swear it saved my parents marriage! My dad has always told us - never buy an old house or wood-sided house you need to paint every few years. As an adult I have enough maintenance of my 35 year old house, I can’t imagine what my parents went through!
@@jenniferboyle2865 We did clean our house!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I don't think you quite get the idea of the slow accumulation of "dirt" that becomes part of the structure of an old building, and no amount of cleaning save a total excavation will get rid of it.

Have you thought about hanging the art on the walls in the storage room? It would get them off of the floor and might help keep them from getting damaged.
We haven't but it's an idea for sure!

The workshop is such a gem to have!
It's already possible to see how much potential the house has and how much you can make of it. It's a lovely place, filled with history and memories, to which you can soon add your own. And the outside washing station is adorable. Very stylish!

I am also a minimalist, and as such, I could never live in an old house like your summer home. I'd feel dirty and itchy if I ever tried. I am absolutely in awe over your ability to switch from a minimalistic city home to an old, rustic country house, and back again, and feel at home in both. BTW, the transformation of the country house is amazing.

I lined all rhe compartments with non slip matting, to stop everything sliding around a rattling. Tis a thing of beauty, and l get a thrill of pleasure whenever l use it

So happy you're enjoying my videos! To be honest I have some degree of joint pain all the time but I try to not think about it. I do stretch regularly especially on days when I've worked hard at the house. I have a PT from trainwell and do her workouts and stretches religiously.
Love that you've kept a lot of the character of the house, its no easy job i can tell!
It's definitely worth keeping where it's possible!

The “spare room” can still look somewhat intentional by storing in the dresser and placing the pictures on the wall or leaning against the wall on the dresser. Maybe a chair for a quiet place to read. What a beautiful place! I cannot wait to see what you guys transform it into.
