0:02 this beautiful, bittersweet, lonely, guitar was Soo touching in this ending!!! Rin: Daughter of Mnemosyne also had a OST theme based on this type of guitar sequence!! It also delightfully reminded me of Texhnolyze's ending guitar!! As well Death Note OST I - Light's theme!! Or maybe another Death Note OST more similar!
Man I love this anime because of its depiction and philosophical approach to immortality and life itself. However despite the anime had a fantastic story and theme, what made this anime very controversial is the hardcore BDSM theme (which to be honest, I'm a fan of). No doubt that this anime went all out on the sadomasochism and I honestly do believe that Rin asogi (the main protagonist of the anime) is a dirty masochist. The anime opening and end credits strongly hints Rin Asogi is a masochist because she is always the one that is suffering/tortured and she seemingly submits and enjoys in her suffering. On top of this, its interesting that story wise almost every villains that interacts with Rin Asogi are sadist, which fits the sadomasochism theme because they need both a masochist (Rin asogi) and sadist (apos, red hair assassin and sayara). Episode one was definitely my most favorite episode because through-out the episode it was showing the audience the type of person Rin Asogi is, despite she enjoys helping others, taking out bad guys, and laying back and enjoying life. Rin Asogi is definitely a without a doubt is a hedonistic woman, and no doubt she is a hardcore masochist who enjoys getting torture and dying in sexual manner and due to her awesome immortality abilities this is possible for Rin Asogi for her to enjoy. Thats why in episode one Rin Asogi mentions to saraya (right when Saraya was about to get eaten by zombie 🧟♂️) Rin asogi says "its IRONIC that is coming from me, but the gift of life is a precious gift. Its not something to be toy with!" So Rin Asogi basically called herself a hypocrite because she toys with her life aka her sexy body, she admits that she is a hardcore masochist! Thats why through-out the anime Rin Asogi strangely and conveniently allows herself to be in fatal and deadly situations despite that it was clear that it can be avoidable especially the fact that Rin asogi is a fantastic fighter! Episode one was a best example of this! Rin Asogi knew that entering the cloning facility is going to be fatal and she already knew that the scientist was a mad woman, on top of this several thugs already attack Rin Asogi but she didn't care infact that's what exactly what Rin Asogi wanted. So episode one build up for that infamous BDSM scene where Rin Asogi the masochist met the sick twisted sadist sayara for the first time. Which it gave the anime its reputation as torture porn! Despite this i really wish they made more episode or even better a remake.
Sad? A lot of sad things do happen, but I wouldn't characterize the whole thing as sad. I think the ending expresses hope for the future more than anything.
I think this anime was too short!! 6 episodes?!?! AHHH!! BUt i loved it sooo much.. i wish it didnt end.... and i love this song in the ending... =] ~~Zelie!~~
