    Ah, I didn’t have an IC-705 on the list of accessories for my GSA. Good call.

    I bought the same two antennas and totally agree with you! That Comet was a total POS. Made maybe three contacts with it. I was knocking out contacts left and right with the 705 and the Trail Friendly.

    Hi Bob,
    You sure found some nice cases and stuffed them to the gills. :-) Looking forward to the Mat-Tuner video. Stay safe. 73 WJ3U

    Probably pack two KX2’s including HT, AX1/AXE1, Trail Friendly, internal battery, and a Bioenno battery in same bags.

    Hello Bob, another great video, however may I suggest, for your VHF/UHF whip antenna, you get a PL259 to BNC Female adaptor, then it can be mounted directly onto your Wind Clamp bracket reducing the load on the radio's connector and one less mount you need to carry. 73 VK5BD

    What a bike, what a set-up! Nicely cut video! My 705 is on the way and I plan to take it to the woods on my electric trike, so your accessories bag ideas will certainly be useful! And I'll do a video to share my own results. Good luck! 73! Linas LY2H

    Have the End Fed by the PAR end Fed guys with the same specs as your Vibroplex version I think... Looks the same and that antenna really performs! Best portable HF antenna I have by a long shot... I use it with my 40ft Spiderbeam mast lashed to the spare tire carrier on the back of the RV. 73.

    Good video Bob. I was looking at buying more BNC patch cables, so I went to your link. Those are CCTV cables, and so they use RG59 which is 75 Ohm coax. Not very good for a 50 Ohm radio

    Bob, I hope the chaos from the move is quickly disappearing from daily action lists for both you and your lovely wife!
    Quick question that I would like to have you add to your affiliate links above: the purple thingy tripod mount that's on your thumbnail for this video. I poured over several of your videos looking for that - and cannot find it on Amazon anywhere either. I have a need for something very low-profile for some of my own videos. No rush, my friend - welcome to Beautiful Idaho! 73 de Robert K3RRR

    Bought the Hazard Jellyroll. Too damn tight. I’d prefer to not stress out my knobs getting it in and I want an easier time getting it back out. Wrong choice, but close.

    I heard the Mat tuner was a piece of junk for it's price... changing the battery is a pain and you have to be careful that the leds don't drop out when opening it up.

    I have to respectfully disagree with you on the HFJ-350M antenna. I use one on the Xiegu X5105 and at 5 watts output I've worked from Canada to Fla while sitting at my kitchen table sitting in West Tn.. I noticed in your video you didn't have a counterpose on the antenna. I use a 30 ft piece of wire thrown out the window and laying on the ground outside. I can change bands and/or adjust for the frequency I want in just a matter of seconds. I will admit 75/80 takes longer as it is so narrow there. But, believe me, the antenna does indeed work rather well given what it is. It's not a full size wire antenna and work works near as well as one.

    • @wigevi
      @wigevi Před 3 lety

      Hi, which bands did you work with that 30ft counterpoise. I have tried 40 mts band with that length, and had to collapse the whip until there is only 3 section up. Thanks.

    • @darrellbeard2799
      @darrellbeard2799 Před 3 lety

      @@wigevi I had to reduce the length also. I think I pulled in 2 full sections. It was pretty close to the length the directions that were included stated.

      I have had excellent luck with the comet as well. I don't think guys rwalize how to tune it and tgat a counterpoise is required.
