@@sawrunner0 I use to think about that quote and believe it myself.. but the world is so shallow. Everyone is literally trying to look the same, so it actually seems that someone's else's beauty that isn't in your standard is the absence of your beauty.. because of how the world actually thinks.

I think of this all the time

Hi, youâre right, that might be the least interesting thing about you, but you really are so pretty!!!!
I get noticed by guys and I still feel extremely ugly and Iâm super insecure. I hate to admit this but I do seek validation from guys unfortunately, and whenever I get it i feel even worse because it doesnât mean shit. A guy thinking youâre pretty doesnât mean anything, if someone tells me they like me, that Iâm funny or have a cool personality, that honestly makes me so happy. Itâs the best compliment you can get.
same
Exactly same, I donât feel ugly tho, itâs like I feel not pretty enough and Iâm afraid to go on dates bcz Iâm afraid guys will think Iâm ugly, no one ever told me Iâm ugly before so idk why Iâm acting like this.
Alyssa but if u are ugly and you never got told u are pretty u would at least want to know how it feels when somebody tells u that u are pretty
Mino H facts..... đđđđ
I'm the other way around, I get told a lot I'm funny or have a cool personality but never get told I'm pretty or anything similar, my friends get a lot of guys to notice them but I don't and honestly it makes me feel bad.
You have a pretty vibe

*YES*
And a pretty face !đ„°
YEs youâve described it

I try to not view beauty solely based off of people's looks. And I started viewing and evaluating beauty based off of who they are as a person and how they treat other people. By doing this, I feel like my entire world has become more beautiful, and everyone looks prettier in my eyes :) Also... I LOVE THIS AMY.
this is wonderful! you are wonderful!
Honestly this is it right here!!! I 100% agree with you and do the same

I do that too. I can easily see someone else's beauty beyond their physical attributes but.. I can never do that to myself.
i had a really bad breakdown last night because i felt ânot prettyâ at all and all i felt was hopelessness....this video couldnât have come at a better time. thank you so much for this, youâve truly given me a whole new perspective!
i feel like i might have had a similar experience but, honestly every time i feel like Iâm about to have serious negative emotions about not being pretty i immediately get reminded of this video czcams.com/video/TJAqwSmbKJc/video.html.
And then I laugh. Itâs still good to take care of and confront that emotion so as to not let it build up and hide behind humor, though.
I hope you feel happy now

this is a quote I came up with:
âI donât need to hear that Iâm beautiful, I need to hear that Iâm worthy even if Iâm not.â
A lot of people say things like âeveryone is beautiful,â but that statement implies that beauty is important and everyone HAS to have it or else. But the truth is, itâs okay to be ugly. It doesnât matter if youâre pretty or ugly, if youâve got something deeper to offer then I like you and thatâs that!! To hell with your appearance!!
Make people feel something real and it wonât matter what you look like. Iâve never felt connected to someone just because of how they looked.
can u do me a motivational speech with that topic? I really love ur words
No offense but who the fuck wants to hear that theyâre ugly? Iâm not okay with being ugly :/ Iâm tired of it
âUglyâ doesnât actually exist. We call people ugly because they donât meet up societyâs beauty standards. We created âugly humansâ. Everyone is beautiful in a different way.

i clicked on this video and first thing i thought was "damn shes gorgeous" and then u started talking and damn. beautiful inside out. stan a legend. iconic. queen.
For every girl who feels this way, read this.
Beauty standards were invented by one person. It was not invented by the whole world. If you have flaws, please love them. It's what makes you unique and original. It's what makes you beautiful. Imagine a world where everyone had no flaws. They all looked the same. And they all happened to fit the impossible beauty standards. It would be pretty boring, right? Embrace your flaws because it's what makes you, you.
the term 'flaw' is created by the mind. flaw did not exist before there were 'ideals' set by society. So, you're statement here is off. Flaws exist only if you allow yourself to believe this framework that someone, as you have mentioned, set as an influence to dominate our minds in this world. did we even know what 'flaw' was as a 3 yr old?
Can we legit get an AM with Amy podcast? Honestly, I am here for EVERYTHING that you have to say. The things that you talk about are so relevant and they're the words that a lot of people need to hear. You break it down to be concise and easy to swallow and you keep things real af during every moment. You are the type of friend that we all need in life and I hope that you keep doing what you do because it's fabulous.
Character is a true test of attractiveness of a person. Looks fade, intelligence can be obtained, but keeping your values and principles in mind and applying is another level of both influence and attraction.
And there's people who don't get that. Those are people who you don't have to pay mind to.
No it's not. Trust me. I'm not trying to be pessimistic but being good-looking can get you everywhere in life. But being the opposite doesn't. It makes things harder. This is the society we're living in. Stop being so cliche. I know where you're coming from, but you won't understand... Cuz ugh I'm ap ugly
@@harrystylesmiddlefinger Look, I'm not denying that pretty privilege isn't a thing. I agree that looks does give people an upper hand when navigating society, their careers, and even relationships. But. Looks don't keep your professional network together. Looks don't sustain relationships in itself. If your attractiveness is paired with weak character, you will find yourself in a network of shallow and unfulfilling people. I'm completely aware that attractiveness can give people an upper hand in society - I'm not stupid. From experience in itself, being attractive can also have a downside in areas where respect is touted toward different skills that might be required from you. But if you want to seek a fulfilling life and go to bed HAPPY with yourself and your conscience, then you need to work on your character and self-worth. "Stop being so cliche". Just because there are cliches in life doesn't mean that they lack truth. JFC. And yes, this is coming from someone with some life experience. I can write a novel on this, but this is youtube.
@@harrystylesmiddlefinger Not to mention, a lot of people lack values and principles in their life. Especially with people who have the "looks" to get them whatever they want in life. Many of them go into a downward spiral because they lack guiding principles in life. If you choose to not believe me, go ahead and ask those people.
@NCT stands for Neo Crackhead TechnologyYour character is something that you can work on and control moreso than whoever finds you attractive. It takes work. Everyone has that responsibility to be better.
@@harrystylesmiddlefinger I also mentioned that when you work on your character, you possess an ability to gain a different level of influence than people who just stand there and look pretty all day. You create a sense of relatability, charisma, and emotional connections with people you come in contact with. This is a fact. Not all influential people bust their ass to the top strictly through their looks. đ
i remember i was watching a video once and the girl said "being beautiful isn't an accomplishment" and that really stuck with me because it's honestly so true

During my childhood and beginning of teen years Iâve always been treated as the ugly one, I was bullied into believing it and itâs been two years since I started taking care of myself and aiming to be the best version of myself ( Iâm 20 now). Yes, pretty people do have it easier but now Iâm actually on the other side ( Iâm a model now , I can see that people treat me better in some ways and it makes me slightly uncomfortable when I see other people being treated as less worthy than me etc. ) I just wanna spread positivity and not be seen as just pretty... itâs sad that our society puts beauty on the top, we always judge from appearances even if we do not want to. I truly believe confidence is prettier than just being conventionally pretty. Anyway, great video Amy thank you for your words đ€

No matter how pretty you are it will be gone one day with age. So i can't care less .people need to realise not only is life temporary, suffering stems from believing in a life that's is delusional and not your real essence, wasting precious time and worry about how you look, you have no time to realise why you are here on earth and where would you be after life. You fail to accumulate good deeds and end up in the cycle of life and death and more suffering each time as you fail to realise how to be a better person but waste all your time arguing , comparing, partying, chatting crap on your CZcams channel like this person here, let me tell you I don't really care what you got to offer apart for good deeds and most people never considered afterlife and take it as of it is a joke. But it will definitely happen. Buddhists believe people look " pretty " if they did alot of good deeds in the last life. Check out the teaching yourself, perhaps you will be amazed how it is really not a blind religion as such but a science. And it is really sad how we feel not good enough when we look in the mirror, but Buddha offers a way out of this is kind of suffering. His teaching had taught me how not to feel I need to take revenge (everyone she hurts my feelings) on a very toxic mother , and no longer engage in arguments for example, even though it really is hard to do....I tried many methods and researched different faiths, and decided this is for me as I can see progress in myself as a person seeking enlightenment, wisdom and compassion.
I was cyberbullied when I was young. Two girls messaged me saying I was fat and looked like a boy. They said that they would cut off my hair to make me look like a boy even more and would cut me into little pieces with a knife. Since then, I felt ugly and I hated pictures and social media. This summer, I decided to change that. I want to OWN social media, not the other way around. That's why I started a youtube channel~ Thanks amy for touching on this topic!
Not Limited To I find you gorgeous. Beauty is a subjective concept. How did you start getting confidence on your mind and in your looks even after cyber bullying. Good luck for your channel.
you'r beautiful
those are such evil things to say. I hope you are in a better place mentally and feeling good about yourself now. youâre gorgeous Iâm sure. â€ïž

"I have so much more to offer then my outer appeareance."
This hit me hard bc finally I found someone who thinks like me. Like I am soooo confident about the things I can offer.I am good in talking about politics, philosophy, history, classic literature, music, dramas, series like soooo many things. And these alone are enough to make me confident even tho I look decent. I hope that I never lose this confidence that isn't based on my looks
Exactly thats my kind of view too. Its not all about how I look and I feel like everyone is complaning about how they look and stuff - I actually dont really care. I dont need a boyfriend or people who tell me that I'm pretty......My personality is wayyyy more interesting than my appeareance and people who actually really want to get to know me shouldn't be judging me on my look (:

I remember when I went to study aboard and made new friends on a island and I was feeling fat and didnât want to take off my shirt bc my costume was basically a bikini top. But when I finally had the courage to do it all my friends hyped me up so much! I loved the way they made me feel, it was such a nice gesture. They always reminded me that I was beautiful even though I felt so ugly, they starting to make me feel better about myself. I am now back at my home school and I catch myself feeling ugly now and then, but watching this video just reminds me how they treated me. So whenever Iâm feeling bad about myself I can remember how great my friends were on the island.
wow this video is coming at such a great time in my life right now. I painfully relate so hard to the original email & you had so many insightful things to say!đ
I have SO MANY thoughts about this. This topic is such a HUGE part of my story. I grew up being the "not pretty friend/sister". It literally almost killed me. I went into a deep depression over it at a very young age. I'll try to consolidate my thoughts.
1. I 100% agree with both points about why you could be feeling that way. Especially the second. I had extremely unhealthy, controlling friendships. They wanted me to dress, look and behave a certain way and whether I did or not, they took it as an opportunity to humiliate me. When I did meet there standards in someway they were confused and mean. (I.e. Checking in my scalp to see if my hair was mine because it looked longer.) One of the healthiest and life saving things I did for myself was find new friends. It was scary. These people were my crew. My squad. If one was missing, they asked the other three where she was. I was making the conscious choice to be alone in high school before I remain apart of that click.
2. Once I got new friends who celebrated my differences instead of trying to get me to conform, I started acting like it. I went out of my way to dress and behave exactly and unapologetically me. It boosted my confidence so much and I actually got MORE affirmation from others when I did that. My BEST advice is to wear what you love. Make your external appearance reflect you authentically even if its scary. For the love of God, do not try to wear the costume ither people seem to be confident in and assume it will work for you.
3. Even after all of that, (finding a healthy affirming community that tells me I'm beautiful ALL THE TIME. My church has a very encouragement focused culture and we take time to celebrate each other constantly.) I've still found that I don't feel pretty all the time. When people tell me I'm beautiful I can't receive the compliment. Why? Because I don't agree. You could get all the verbal affirmation of beauty in the world, if you don't believe it too, all of those compliments will bounce right off of you. The cliche is true. You HAVE to believe it. And you HAVE to live your life like you believe that. Give other people compliments. Those who refresh others will also be refreshed.
**steps off soap box**

I believe that "pretty" people are less attractive when they have a horrible attitude. I think physical traits are not the most important because I think that the way someone holds themselves says more about a person. Confidence is definitely a trait that makes a person attractive. Also I have NEVER seen an ugly person.(I have always thought this and I don't think it would change if I saw all of you tomorrow. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. work on the inside and then if after you want work on the outside go ahead(no need though) )Honestly, the only way someone looks less "pretty" or attractive is if they are extremely rude and just have this negative attitude. Thanks for this video I am definitely subscribing! Thanks for such a positive message. :)

Ever since I was in highschool and was struggling with my monolids, you were THE UCLA STUDENT CZcamsR WHO MADE ME FEEL LIKE I can be beautiful too, with my smol litto eyes, and seeing you having similar eyes as me and being SO BEAUTIFUL in my eyes gave me so much hope and I realized that it really isnât the worldâs standard of beauty that draws others to you. amy is so friggin cool that i aspire to that so much more than the most beautiful person on youtube or otherwise. even though she is really attractive...
I am so, so glad I clicked on this video. Recently I have felt the lowest I ever have in terms of looks and personality, but this video came at the perfect time. I love what you said about using insecurity as inspiration to improve, and what you said about projecting is so true. Iâve been doing that so much lately, but every time Iâm tempted to, Iâll remember this video.
I wish I could express how much your words mean!
This is the most helpful advice Iâve heard on this topic. Thank you!
I grew up feeling that way and now I am 26 and still feel the same way. This video is such an eye opener for me because I really need to change my self projection. Thank you very much â€ïž
I'm so happy I watched this video, you really did just help me out with all the self-hate I've been dealing with lately. One thing I couldn't stop doing was comparing myself with other conventionally pretty girls, but I'm truly tired of being constantly sad about my looks, because it's true that looks are the least thing I should be worrying about. I have noticed that confident people are more attractive, like how you said that people like people who like themselves a lot! I hope I can get there soon and be happy with myself regardless of how I physically look. Thank you so much!! :D
Love this. How you present yourself has a huge impact too (and back to the thought/mind being powerful), but know so many people who do not fit the conventional attractiveness quota, but who are irresistable or enticing/ are actually attractive because of how they dress, act, think etc
this is such an important topic im glad u discussed it this week! in college i was the âunpretty oneâ in my friend group not being hit on, feeling ugly and unwanted whenever my friends and i went out. then whenever i went out after college in other cities i was hit on pretty regularly. so like u said prettiness is not measured by other people itâs how u feel and itâs really not that important lol. just gotta be confident in urself both inside and out and thatâs gorgeous by itself!
This is my version of weekly podcasts đ This series helps me so much!

I love listening to you, Amy. You just hit us with the truth and at the same time you manage to stay relatable. Never change :)
You got me healed all the time. Amd i ALWAYS watch your videos not exactly whem they come out, but whenever i feel like i will understand the vibe. Thank you for your talkings. It's like you're a good friend who's always there to make me feel better.
I needed this so much right now. I related a lot to the email that girl sent. Whenever I went out to bars or clubs with my friends they always seemed to get hit on while I didn't. It felt like the only times guys hit on me was when my "prettier" friends turned them down so the guys would go to the "next best thing." That's how I thought about it, anyway. Your video helped me realize that I was probably just projecting. It still is hard for me to acknowledge that it's all in my head, but I'll try to be better at not projecting and to not think so harshly of myself.
Chelsea, your experience is something I deeply relate to. You are not alone!!! Thank you so much Amy for your wise words and support đđ»đđ»đđ»

I feel like I had a Copernican revolution in mentality shift within myself when you affirmed âpeople like people who like themselvesâ. It completely validates the people who care about what others think of them- at least for me. Because, everyone always tries to plant a particular seed in my head: âstop caring about what other people thinkâ
And I always wondered âhow? How do I let go?â Now I see: that I donât need to. That I can be proud to be someone who cares what other people think of me, so now I can be confident in who I am because I want people to like me, I want people to understand how much exactly I have to offer, but in order to do so, I must love myself as well because people like people who like themselves.
Thank you for continuing your journey of own self love and enlightenment so you can share to the rest of the world. â€ïž
I really love this message and resonate with it very well. This has been my mindset for the last 7 years because I too struggle with a part of my physical appearance and started to project those insecurities onto others. I realized that Iâve never seen myself as ugly or unattractive, but Iâve been questioning as to whether certain people think I am, and that is what destroyed my self-esteem. I know INTERNALLY that Iâm not, and if I am, it shouldnât matter or be the reason to what should be the most important. I have a good heart, am kind and can offer good to this world. Sending love to all those who feel this way and resonate to what sheâs speaking â€ïž

love that you talked about this topic! i just started creating content, & i noticed i started to become hyperaware of my looks in comparison to others-and becoming disappointed because of that. there is so much more to a person than their looks!!
Omg youâre mentality and advise is soooo helpful, youâre definitely helping the world ! Youâre changing our lives in a huge way. Thank you, Amy! Thank you so much. â„ïž
i like how you also mentioned your insecurity about not being ânot smart enoughâ and i want to suggest that you expand on that more in another video âșïž
Youâre a beautiful being in every aspect đ
hi! I stumbled across this video just now, and after I watched it, I can say that this helped me so much to think positively about myself especially because I struggle with a eating disorder so I have a lot of problems with my appearance. Thanks to this video hope for development of my own self from the inside has grown a lot! Thank you so much for making this ... I have to check out your channel more! ps please keep making videos with messages like this one they really are helpful
Thank you! This video is a great way to start my day. There is so much I have yet to learn about myself, about the way I feel inside and outside and the changes I should make for my health and this video portraits most of themâ€ïž
omg amy.. had a rough day yesterday and needed to hear this. sipping on coffee tuesday morning rn and this is amazing.
Thank you so much Amy. Iâve been struggling with my inner demons and now I have a different perspective on how to manage them. â€ïž
Amy, thanks for doing videos covering topics like this! This is something Iâve already really struggled with and itâs really helpful to have you talk about it!
I pretty much already tweeted this but this video could not have come at a more perfect time, thank you so much for your words, I love this series and I am so happy to have it
Loved this! I vibe with this so much. I feel like as Iâve gotten older I havenât changed in appearance so much as Iâve evolved confidence wise. I think that confidence and passion translates into âattractiveness.â If you love yourself in a non-egotistical way, people can be naturally drawn towards you.
I did this photo comparison where I took a picture of myself in a previous year. Next to the picture I wrote down things I wanted to accomplish or overcome. I took another picture the following year after completing many of my personal goals. Itâs crazy how confidence can change your appearance! I looked happier, I was standing up straight, I dressed myself better, etc. if youâre not sure where to start in building up yourself, Iâd try out this exercise đ youâll be amazed at what time can do.
this actually made me feel better and made me understand that beauty inside is a lot more important :) so thankyou you beautiful soul.
this video helped me alot. im going through a very insecure point in my life (highschool) and i am constantly finding myself comparing my own appearance to that of people on social media and around me. from now on I'll try my best to work out my relationship with myself â€
I feel so blessed to know your CZcams channel because you're edited things that correspond to my soul : all personnal developpement video like this fashion, good eating habits. I ABSOLUTLY LOVE EVERYTHING when I watched your videos, like the background which make good vibes. I absolutly love you way of talking cause i'm french and due to you slowing way of talking I UNTERSTAND EVERYTHING. I love all really you're my pleasure of the day. YOURS VIDEOS make me believe much more in my way of thinking in life. Thank's dude ;)
This was so helpful thank you for sharing some wisdom. I got emotional watching this because I started thinking about my own life and how I negatively talk myself down. Like you just made me so hopeful to start looking at myself in a new light.
I JUST found your channel and I love it. Subscribed đ Younger me definitely needed this. đ
And honestly, conventionally attractive people who are mean, actually start to look ugly to me. Then someone I didn't take a second glance at, could totally wow me with how interesting and amazing they are. That's when I start to notice all the things that make them beautiful.
I donât think I can really put into words how this video helped me like some of the stuff you said really hit me so thank you
amy!! i'm fairly new to your channel, and i cant believe i just found out about AM with amy! its such a great idea combining getting ready for the day + talking to us about these topics. im going to binge watch the other AMs and will continue to support youuuu
I watched so many videos out there but this is the only one that helped me mentally :) thank you so much
Thank you I really needed to hear this being a teenage girl going through puberty and my body changing I have had a hard time feeling good in my skin which has lead me to feel about every other aspect of me, who I truly am on the inside and caused me to be bitter and sad and wonder why I have no friends but what I really need to change is how I feel on the inside and realize my value and worth, thank youâ€ïž
I love you for what you said in this video. I was just feeling so down right now. Yesturday i was about to cry because i felt so ugly. Listening to what you said made me feel sooooo much more better. So thank you so much Amy. You've got a new subscriber!
Youâre so beautiful inside! (out too, but honestly your personality is just so glowing!) I feel bad for not having watched your videos in a couple months :-( exams suck! But Iâm happy to be catching up. Youâre doing really well!
Thank you for taking your time uploading this video thank you for being here helping me feel less insecure today thank you for everything
So important to address this, thanks for all of your endless wisdom Amy đ
Thank you so much for this video Amy. I've always seen myself as the ugly friend, and sometimes still do but, as a person, I know that I have a lot more to offer than others. This video helped me remind myself of that, as I'm having a hard time right now regarding this topic. Thank you so much again for your wise words.
I am 15 years old đ and I was called ugly for so long , and I am thankful for it cause I learned a new thing and it is so precious it become a really important thing in my life â€
Well , to me beauty is something that everybody has , humans are made in a very beautiful way , you should never call yourself ugly , instead you should say that your look is socially unexpected or unappreciated because beauty standers are what makes you pretty or ugly in people's eyes , humans from a really young age are taught that a pretty woman has this and that, and an ugly woman is a woman that has this and that đso they grow up thinking that this is being beautiful this is being ugly, you don't chose to be ugly or pretty you are born that way like what the heck ? Humans made those rules ,why the frick do we have to work with these rules ?
All humans are born beautiful, some of em are considered pretty because they re born looking a certain way and other peaple are not born with those certain features that humans like them made !
So you are not ugly at all , no body is ugly if somebody calls you ugly they re soul is ugly they re pathetic and blind !!
There is another thing , taste and attraction â€đ
You might love blue eyes more than brown eyes but this doesn't mean that brown eyes are ugly it is just a personal preference! You might be attracted to brown guys more than white guys and it is fine it is a personal preference it is taste !đ
So please don't ever call yourself ugly , you are soooooo beautiful please know this we re all beautiful all humans are beautiful and you know what makes you prettier your confidence your personality and your kindness â€â€
Hope I helped , and sorry if I made typos * I type really fast so I make a lot of mistakes *
U r a army rgt?
this was put together so beautifully
I think you are one of the most beautiful people i have ever seen, i mean in every single way you radiate beauty
this topic speaks so much to me.. i always feel like the ugly friend, everyone is skinnier, prettier, has better skin. i just accepted it and am kinda ignoring it which helps me to move on but its not me living my best life.. thanks for your encouraging words amy! you're so pretty đ»đđ
I think I'm in love
I love this and agree ! Looks are the least important thing about a person . I definitely agree, a person who is confident in themselves and their abilities and has amazing characteristics such as being funny, kind, etc, wow now thatâs attractive! â€ïž
Seriously loved that, it was perfect bc I had a rough day at school. You're such an inspiration and mentor to so many out there including me thank you!
I was always a confident person and then I landed into a job that knocked me down in 3 months, I became so unhappy and unconfident... it was scary to me how a job would change me as I always enjoyed doing my job. I moved on 3 months ago and I am in my current job for 2 months. I still have a lot of self-doubts...not sure if itâs still related to the last job or just the stage of my life and experience. However, I am making progress to get my confidence back. I resonate so much when you say surround yourself with people who value you. My colleagues are those people and my friends as well, I feel good. So I think I am back to the right track!
Do you mind me asking what job you were doing?
I'm very happy that you talk about this subject, it's meaning a lot for me !
WOW Amy, its exactly what i needed to hear thank you so much, specifically about the people im around, ive been working a lot on myself and of cours a lot of things are internal and projections but I havent change much my circle. Thank you
Amy! Thanks for making this video! Iâm a monolided Korean girl born in Argentina. I deal with negative commentaries about my appearance(some of them where âfriendsâ and members of my family). Most of the time
I thought of undergoing plastic surgery, but i realized that changing my appearance wasnât going to change the way I feel about my self. I was insecure and now Iâm still insecure but trying to love the way I am. Thank you again Amy ! â„ïžđđ»ââïž
My goodness you should have a podcast!!! (If you donât already) I would be completely down for that!!! I always â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž your messages/advice!
