Hell ya guys. Babymetal are 13 year veterans of the music industry who started in 2010 when they were 12/11. They’ve been touring internationally for 9 years and are one of the best live performance groups out there. They’ve been friends with BMTH for many years now.
    Babymetal suggestions:
1). Monochrome (Live, Babymetal Begins - Clear Night, 2023): mature, mid-20s Babymetal, epic and emotional hard rock with metal elements.
2). Metalli ft. Tom Morello of RATM: newest release, best represents Babymetal of today.
3). Road of Resistance (official, live, 2015): 17-year old Su-metal and her 15-year old lieutenants commands 20K army of fans to wall of death and circle pits.
4). Catch Me If You Can (live, Budokan 2014): Best “represents” younger Babymetal, but dialed up to 10.
5). Akatsuki (Live, Budokan 2014): 16-year old Su-metal shows off her vocal prowess in a power metal ballad solo.
Look forward to more Babymetal!! 🤘🦊

Nice reaction, you will blow your mind if you start your BM journey. Funny you mentioned you should go down the rabbit hole and after that Oli said the same thing lol We call it the Foxhole and you're not ready for it, trust me.
This was the best 2020 collab between this two great bands and last month we finally got this collab on the stage together after so much time waiting for it.
BMTH performed at Southside Festival in Germany and Hellfest Festival, there's a nice proshot version but with only BabyMetal backing track vocals, luckily now we got this amazing clip showing them sharing the same stage at Makuhari Messe during a festival called "NEX_FEST", and they did it not only once but four times in a row, everyone went bonkers with these, you can also find fancams of each night showing some different interactions at the end between Oli and the girls, SuMetal thanked to BMTH in all of them, that's the only thing i can complain about this clip but it's cool anyway.
BMTH couldn't have better collab on their latest album Post Human Survival Horror, there are some others really good songs there thou but this one is just on another level. My suggestions are: "Parasite Eve" and "Teardrops", also "Ludens" from Death Stranding OST videogame.
This song was produced by Mick Gordon, the same behind videogames like Doom, Wolfenstein and Prey, so you can feel the vibes here.
They're friends since a very long time ago so the collab was almost naturally unavoidable.
They even performed as a support band for BabyMetal and Oli praise to the Fox God too (atheist, dame, zettai)🦊🤘
The instrumental intro on this song is called "Itch For The Cure" which is clearly a tribute to Linkin Park song "Cure For The Itch", but the short animation and dialogue wasn't part of the album track, it's a reference to Metal Gear Solid videogame created by Hideo Kojima, they got another MGS tribute song called "Shadow Moses" and later in 2019 they were part of Death Stranding OST, another Hideo Kojima game.
Also you can find a short documentary about the making of this song where Oli said interesting things about the method they worked with the BM team and giving multiple choice of doing this.
    Next suggestion:
BabyMetal - Road Of Resistance live in Japan official MV.
Thanks for sharing this and see you next time.🤘🔥

As others have pointed out they are a fusion of Jpop idol and metal. Idol groups are mostly girl groups singing and dancing Jpop usually with pre-recorded backing tracks. Around the time Babymetal formed, another idol group formed called BIS. Together they are the 1st two alternative idol groups. They use the idol format but play a very different style of music from the usual pop. Groups like Necronomidol and Broken by the Scream are other alt-idol groups. BIS is no longer around but 2023 is Babymetal's 13th year. They are the most successful Japanese metal/rock act ever overseas.

babymetal is something special...admittedly it can take some time to get over your own preconceptions of what a genre/band should be... it took me awhile. But once you get through that you realize how good they are.

Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole (no rabbits in this hole).🦊 This song was recorded in 2020 during lockdown. BABYMETAL originally sent their contributions entirely in English - Oli asked them to include some Japanese.
BMTH and BABYMETAL have been good friends for several years since they first met when BABYMETAL were first venturing outside of Japan. They were both playing at a festival and Oli Sykes from BMTH saw the girls wandering round backstage looking excited but possibly a little nervous, so he took them under his wing to make sure they felt welcome and comfortable with where they were.
They have often spoken about wanting to collaborate and BABYMETAL invited BMTH to tour with them in Japan late in 2019 - they opened for BABYMETAL at 4 of their big arena shows.
BMTH put together the four NEX_FEST events in Japan around the start of November this year and of course asked BABYMETAL to be part of all four events (and were grateful they agreed since they know BABYMETAL are so much bigger in Japan than BMTH are).
BABYMETAL played their own set at all four events and came out again to perform this song with BMTH each time. You can see they were all having a great time performing together at last - 3 years after the song was first recorded.
BABYMETAL formed in 2010, there were 3 original members - Su-metal is lead vocalist, Yuimetal and Moametal were in charge of "scream and dance" (not scream as in the metal sense, they do backing vocals, harmonies, the bulk of the choreo and lead the crowd interaction in their live shows).
Yui last performed in October 2017, she missed the next 12 months because of poor health and in October 2018 she announced she was still not fully recovered and had decided to leave the band.
Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo through to (and a bit beyond) their 10th anniversary, so from 2019 they were supported by one of three dancers (the Avengers Riho, Kano and Momoko) who would take turns dancing in the third spot.
Riho is now a solo artist, Kano has her own JPop group, so Momoko was the only Avenger after about March 2020.
On 1st April this year (2023), after 4 -5 years as a duo, BABYMETAL became a trio again when Momoko was revealed as the new official third member Momometal.
The thing with BABYMETAL that throws people off most - they are genuinely original and unique. It confuses people. They have fused elements from different genres that surely wouldn't mix - and they made it work.
They don't follow the same format of virtually every band in the last 50-60 years, they do things their own way and as for their music - again unlike virtually every other band where you can stick them in a convenient box (x band will play power metal, y band is thrash, z band is hard rock, w band is Prog etc) - BABYMETAL do them all and they will also throw in some completely unrelated style or musical genre with the metal when you least expect it.
They have world class instrumentalists (the Kami Band) supporting them in all live shows (the same hard core of about 6 Japanese musicians since 2013 and for foreign tours since 2019 the same 5 Americans (the bassist did swap out for the US tour this year, but came back for Europe).
BABYMETAL put on a show, their big arena concerts in Japan are spectacular and the production is mind blowing.
However, they don't need all that, they started out singing and dancing to pre-recorded instrumentals, playing in shopping malls for free, at one festival they played a small stage by the food court normally reserved for comedians, their first solo shows were in a tiny venue with a 150 capacity.
When they tour the world now they play relatively modest venues to 1500 - 9000 people without the huge production - and because they learned their trade the hard way and from a very young age they put on a show and are one of the very best live acts on the planet.
They have nearly 70 songs now, each one different to the last, no fillers. You may not like a song if perhaps it is too far along towards the pop end of their sliding scale - no problem, try another song and the chances are you'll love it. You have some good suggestions in the comments - the official videos are all good and worth seeing but BABYMETAL are a live performance act, live is where you will see and hear them at their best.

Start with Megitsune music video first (it's the only music video you'll have to watch from them, everything else go live version, and it's considered by most to be one of their best songs all time)
    Then move onto:
Rondo of Nightmare with Mischiefs of God intro Budokan live (this showcases the Kami band behind the girls front and center, heavy song)
    Pa pa ya live
    Off their new album:
    Monochrome live
    Maya live
There are other great songs I didn't mention but these are safer options

    BABYMETAL 101
Babymetal is a Japanese group founded in 2010 and produced by Kei “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal).
The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (25 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance. Moa Kikuchi aka "Moametal", pronounced as Moa-Metal (23 years old) as part of Scream and Dance. Momoko Okazaki aka Momometal (20 years old) as part of Scream and Dance. They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost.)

Babymetal are the “rock idols” of the industry. If you choose to continue down this “rabbit hole” which we as fans call the fox hole; you might find it a little questionable how the dancing has any effect on the music, but trust me, for reasons beyond conventional logic, it effects things A LOT. Both on the live performance front as well has how the music is produced in studio. Also something else to bear in mind. Babymetal currently uses a backing band of session musicians called the “Kami band.” I say this because I suspect you might ask questions about this later and I just wanted to clarify before hand that all their music is produced by unknown parties in studio, but the band are people who perform this music for the live shows.
Babymetal is metal brought to the forefront of full blown theatrical art. Not something you typically see among most modern bands and it shows.

I am with everyone else and warn you once you start down the FoxHole you can't get back out. I think with their music it messes with your brain. You will hear the music and then hear the voices and your brain is confuc*ed and can't comprehend it all. I would start from the beginning with Road of Resistance from way back with the 3 original members and also watch the live stuff and watch the crowd interaction is crazy. I suggest once you make it past some of the old stuff ventures into some of the other stuff as Su actually raps in BXMXC and then you get the folk's songs like O' MAJINAI and of course when you think you are ready head back to the original live version of Death and ps we are not a cult lol

    👍 👍
BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents.
Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result.
At first Amuse showed little interest and the girls had financing mainly from Kobayashi. They performed at strip malls and small venues using clothes borrowed from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia).
If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to LIVE performance videos as this is where they shine.
They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more.
Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.)
Suggest reacting to these HQ Pro Shot videos of LIVE performances for a start.

Yui Mizuno left BabyMetal in 2018 due to health reasons and at their concert in Yokohama on April 1 it was announced that a permanent third member Momoko Okazaki (who is also a graduate of Sakura Gakuin and has been appearing with them LIVE since 2019 after Yui's departure) has officially become the third member.
Their new album in my opinion that released March 24 is amazing with so many different styles.
