I think that's mostly a nod to the fact that they used almost exclusively British actors for all the speaking roles within the Empire in the original trilogy.
He's referring to the fact that the empire is trying to be all proper in their destruction of hope and goodness....sort of like the British during the American Revolution lol. Like, who cares about sounding "dignified" when you're all about tyranny and power!
The Imperials traditionally have an English accent in lore.
Funny, all Romans have Brit accents in the movies too lol.
Always gotta praise an american actor who can do a spot on british accent...

The cockney accent was abysmal, but the K-2S0 voice was second to none.

I imagine he had a lot more training an preparation for K-2SO's accent than the cokney one.

I would like a movie with him, Jimmi Simpson and Paul Dano. All great actors who usually are supporting but so great. Mostly underrated but brilliant in everything they do.

He's the John Ratzenberger of Disney Animation films (meaning he's in every single one). So he's definitely got work for as long as Disney wants to keep calling him up for their new films!

He actually does a very convincing English accent, which is usually something Americans fail hard at.
He's an actor. He's practiced accents a lot, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's had lessons from an accent coach for a film project before.
English people are good at doing accents of Americans from the west coast, but that's about it

Not unusual for alan to do english accents, but just a touch ironic that an american played a brit (ppl always complaining that british actors steal their roles, ...as though they're actors themselves), after john boyega was told to put on an american accent
