Well, bed ridden people can’t move themselves out of bed without assistance. On the other hand, those who refuse to move are making a conscious choice not to move due to the excessive obesity & lack of mental motivation. The body follows whatever the brain tells it to do, so if no mental signal is sent out then they’re not moving.
Did you not hear that kid screaming, probably waiting on his mom to get out of bed, poor kid was probably starving. It looked pretty bright outside, I can guarantee it was after 10. You think that’s responsible? Yea she’s taking care of them, but I’m sure she does stuff on her own time, gets out of bed when she feels like. Not when the kid needs to eat.

Honestly it’s amazing how much she CAN do compared to most of the other people on the show. Kudos to her
Her problem is mainly the emotional side that began her eating and the fact she is more worried about her children then her well being to really pay attention to notice she’s hurting her kids ultimately by hurting herself in this way. People sometimes don’t understand your well-being and your kids well-being is hand in hand they are closely connected. Ultimately she is definitely doing better then most on this show i will give her that.

Her kids saved her from being bed-bound. We see so many on this show who can't leave their bed bc they have someone to take care of them. She takes care of her kids, including lifting her oldest. That kept her mobile, even at that weight.

Yeah, most of the parents on here make their children wait on them, it’s refreshing to see someone Actually still being a parent at this size.

This lady…what a powerhouse! Did you see how she threw her 12 year old over her shoulder! Amazing. Yes she is super morbidly obese, but I give her a lot of credit. She has a lot to deal with in her life.

If you accept a carer paid for by the state, you loose the money you collect for being the child’s caregiver.

This episode is over 5 years old. In the "What Happened to them now" episode, she managed to lose weight to get the weight loss surgery. But it wasn't easy..... she was shown to be a heavy smoker, which she had to quit per Dr Now's instructions.... plue her disabled son died.

It’s not about “letting yourself”, addiction as a gradual process. Do you think any alcoholic or chain smoker or drug addict simply “let themselves get to that point”, and not about how addictive substances holds you hostage? The US is having an obesity epidemic not because anyone “let themselves” anything, but because sugar is addictive and that food over there has tones of it. 100%, anybody reaching to this point have a traumatic reason that turned them to something “harmless” like sugar instead of drugs

She initially lost about 270 pounds, but after nearly three years, when she started gaining the weight back, she dropped out of the doctor’s program. In 2019 she was also considering divorcing her husband Chris, due to his alcoholism. Later she filed suit against the series’ production company for a variety of reasons, including unpaid medical bills. (Dec 2022)

I’m assuming that everyone who appears on the show has an attorney go over their contract before they sign anything, bc this is life and death. If they haven’t gone over everything with an attorney, they should expect nothing.

I'd say the opposite. If she wouldn't have the kids, she probably would be bed-ridden. Having to take of the kids forces her to exercise every day. That why she is in better shape than most 600lbs women on this show.

This episode is from 2016. The older boy died due to the CP. She lost a huge amount of weight, but put a lot of it back on after the boy's death.
The incredible strength this woman has to carry her own weight and that of her son is outstanding.
I find it fascinating how diffrent bodys store fat so diffrently.

Wow! Dottie Perkins went on to lose a whopping 21 stone and she looks completely unrecognisable. Sadly, Daniel passed away when he was just 13 but despite this tragedy, she continues to maintain a healthy weight today.
Its hard to deal with the weight and its even harder to have a sick child 😢 I know that miracles do happen.

After seeing the actual back story I'm VERY Impressed on how mobile she actually is an what she does in a normal day for her children! She got back to the weight she was as a teenager and to this day has continuously made progress with a trainer. Her disabled son passed away, and as with most addicts would have binged and lost control she hasn’t. You need some compassion for other folks Marv. People please don't let it get to this. I told myself I would never go over 150 pounds and when I approach it, I cut back on food for a few weeks. If you hit 200, make sure you do something. Never let it get to the stage of this woman.
