So glad the question arose on how to grade with 8-bit footage. Correct exposure in camera is king! Kind of like film in many ways. Thank you, Cullen so much for sharing all your experience & knowledge with us. We are definitely looking forward to growing in our skills.
Annie and Cullen! Thank you, I went back and changed my reductive Sat gamma from Linear to DaVinci Intermediate ( editing gamma) . So far, your Voyager LUTS work beautifully
Don't agree with the 18% grey explanation - middle greys value in camera is the reflectance value which 50% between between black and white is measured by the reflectance of grey. It is an exposure guide - you raise the pivot in Resolve and it changes the middle grey. The luminance of the skin is relative to middle grey - if the person is lit 2 stops below - it's relative to the cameras middle grey.
Hey Cullen, would you mind updating your links to include your free exposure chart DCTL? I see you have version 1.4, however, I believe I am using an older version (1.3, maybe) - wouldn't mind trying the update. Thanks!

These are gold mines. Thanks Cullen!

The David Lynch daily weather report was great. He always wished "Blue skies and golden sunshine all along the way!"
Thanks Cullen, you rock man!!! lol
Jeez - missed another one. Seems like I'm missing the consistency of them being on Friday.
However, your name was spoken with reverence.

Man I keep missing these. Have you considered starting a Discord server for your audience to discuss color?
There is one but restricted ton students and alumni only
Thank you, Cullen!

When is the next live Pro Colorist Q&A ?
This coming Monday 9/9!
I like the AI voice asking the questions. Or am I wrong and it's a real person. Either way it's works.
AI voice? Lol - you never know :-)
It's a real person lol
