I like how Aiden always mentions his staff and those that take care of the horses. Also he never criticises his jockeys for bad rides. A brilliant trainer but also very humble and gracious.
yes aidans smile was telling ...but ryans smile was more telling..he knew why he had reason to smile...he just sat on the best horse he ever sat on
You have to be a believer when he says they've never had one that can do what he does. He's trained literally thousands of horses and to say that means a lot.
All trainers say the same thing for stud value. Aiden said it about Camelot, August Roden, George Washington (ironically was a dud at stud) they are the 3 that jump to mind out of the 50 horses he has said it about 😂
Another exciting prospect from ballydoyle, never seen Aidan so animated about a horse, and always gracious about his team at home ,and the hard work they put in,good luck with city of troy.never mind the press doing comparisons, always looking for a story, the proof was there for everybody to see.
I was watching on TV I thought Ryan was going to burst into tears. He really was emotional looking. Then they stick the microphone in their face. They can't enjoy the walk in front of the crowd for 1 minute.
The price of Success, especially in this Era where Sport, Money and the Media are more to the fore than ever......Alas....
Nice win- yet another class act from king of the trainers Aidan -congratulations to Aidan and all his staff. Great training and great tactics

Excellent thanks for posting ❤
What a smooth-moving horse, and others were throwing their legs out purposefully, but for him, it seemed an effortless gait; amazing, and that's over six!!
@globaloffice3214 okay 7f, he wasn't sprinting tho like others to keep up, and another great time, so he's outstanding.
Justify / scatt daddy line who are fast mature early type colts . Very exciting but he might be ahead of the other 2 year olds Interesting how he develops from 2 to 3?
They won't bottle running their best horses over distance, ground or opposition to find out exactly how good their horses are, unlike some. Can't see anyone else running a horse of this quality on ground like it encountered yesterday just so they could see it keep it's unbeaten record. This is why Coolmore are the greatest horse empire ever.
Read what he said when he withdrew him from the National Stakes last month...
@@sargy1916I think resting him for the Dewhurst was way more sensible 👍
For one it twice as important race. Look I'm honest being Irish.
The ground was predicted to be good it just rained Friday at Newmarket.
If they took him out imagine what a rubbish Dewhurst it would have been.
Then considering his other horse won the National stakes by 5 lengths. It was fairly genius planning by the lads.
@@sargy1916Sargy sometimes they get it wrong.
Like August Rodin in the King George or Paddington in the International.

Never seen Aiden so excited about a horse.
City of Troy 🎉loving the Irish🎉
Yes indeed but his sire, Justify, is American. So we are proud of him too!
The best 2 year old by far pure class
Although some controversy around his father, he still remains the only un-raced 2 year to win the Kentucky Derby since Apollo some time in the late 1800s. His dad was clearly special to do that and also win the Triple Crown despite stable shenanigans. Maybe City of Troy will afford his father the credit he truly deserves. 🍏 🐴
City of Troy looks a threat to Frankel 14/14 unbeaten record with the ease he runs and then just jets away as he likes what a rising star
They also have Henry longfellow who looks top class aswell
They will wipe the floor with the group 1 races next season
I think they'll send Henry Longfellow to the french guineas and french derby next season
I know he has the powerful owners ,But my god you won't see another trainer like aide he deserves all the luck and credit he receives. Humble hard working guy!
Bring him across the pond for a Breeders Cup race. Solid prospect.
He did say when interviewed yesterday he would not be going to B.C this year
Very impressive performance, can't wait to see him next year. Looks like a good crop of 3 year olds next year
Hes not out of an Oaks winner, hes out of Together Forever, it was her sister Forever Together who won the Oaks. They also used the name City of Troy on a Stoute colt 20 years ago.
Looks to me he could get further than Frankel, would love to see if he could replicate Sea The Stars and try the Guineas, Derby, Arc.
@@nc3music920..I don’t think he’ll attempt the triple crown. There was a time when it was fashionable, but the Arc is far more important & prestigious.
@@christophebonhoefferofbelg9846 The guineas, derby and arc has been done by Seas The Stars. I know for a fact that the triple crown is what he wants most of all. It would be historic. Hasnt been done since Nijinsky who was also trained at ballydoyle by his predecessor, Vincent O'Brien
@@NC-ck5oj ..I don’t disagree with you at all because there was a time when it was the big thing. Of course Aidan would love to have a triple crown winner & so would Coolmore, but I’m just not sure they’ll go for it. If City of Troy wins the Guineas & Derby, surely they cannot avoid the Arc which is less than 3 weeks after the St Ledger. Remember too that Vincent tried to do it with Nijinsky & failed. The Arc is the best middle distance race in Europe & the Ledger isn’t that big a deal anymore.
Absolutely outstanding! Winning a dewhurst like that is not often done, i think this horse is made for a juddmonte international and king George. He responds very well to the whip and gallops very very strongly. I still really like his stable mate Henry Longfellow for the guineas.
Unfortunately his stablemate is by No Nay Never and they don’t really see out a mile over a mile (case in point Ten Sovereigns……when he hit the bushes his race was over, but weeks later he returns to Newmarket to win the July Cup)
@@isleofman11 no Henry Longfellow is by dubawi, he's all speed and a mile Will be his maximum distance.. I agree about no nay Nevers, very fast 2yos don't get a mile and never really train on.
Very, very impressive.

I hope City of Troy trains on this year , proves he is a champion , and stays in training as a four year old. Racing needs another star!
I wonder if the Owners and Aiden would consider the Triple Crown (2000 Guineas, The Derby and St Leger) and the Arc next year? Probably have to wait to see if he gets the distance, looks like he goes forever and was stretchin’ out in his races🐴🔥
There’s been a few Horses that have impressed but just not got the ground in recent years such as Pinatubo, Baaeed.. I think we never got to see the best of Coroebus R.I.P also👍🏻
He's such a beautiful mover; gorgeous to watch.
Coolmore will be hoping he's nothing like John Curry in the breeding sheds.
Looked fantastic 👌 very precocious hope he trains on 2-3 ? Some improve more than others . He looks exceptional though
Brilliant 💯 ride Ryan very well done 👏 ✔️ 👍 ❤.you made it look so easy 😀.
Henry longfellow being overlooked here. Superbly bred out of minding. Will stay at least 10f. Frankie will be looking to get on him in the guineas.
Far be it for me to correct the great Aiden O'Brien about City of Troy's breeding but in conversation with Lydia Hislop he advises that CofT's Dam (Together Forever) won the Oaks and his sire (Justify) was a "big sprinter who won the Belmont." Together Forever was 7th in the Epsom Oaks (Qualify won trained by Aiden) and 4th in the Irish equivalent (Covert won). Her only Group 1 win was the Fillies' Mile as a 2yr old. Justify (unbeaten) won the US Triple Crown (over 1m2f, 1m1/2f and 1m4f) a much greater feat than just the Belmont, His shortest winning distance was over 7f in his first run stepping up to a mile on his second.
Aiden correctly described Justify as a big sprinter who won the Belmont.
@@user-ct7yf7wp4u Justify was quick from the gate. normal for most horses here in the US . but his first race was over 7f and the 8f. That could be what Aidan was talking about.
I love this colt. Love his pedigree, his obvious ability, and I've always been a huge fan Aidan O'Brien as a trainer and of the way the powers that be at Coolmore/Ballydoyle go about their business in the sport we all love. But seriously fellow fans and punters, could we all please take a moment to catch our breath and come back to reality for a second. It's when the "so-called" experts of the sport that get paid to have their opinions piped into the living rooms & dens of racing fans all over the world. It's when those same "so-called experts" from RacingTV or ITV or AtTheRaces or anywhere else immediately loose sight of the forest for the trees with some of the comments which swirled following this race, that's when "racing expert" is a term I start using very loosely. Don't get me wrong, this was without question a top-shelf effort and performance from a very well bred son of an American Triple Crown winner, who provided he stayes healthy or isn't retired to stud prematurely looks to have a tremendous upside going forward. That being said, and again I'm a huge fan of Coolmore and their Ballydoyle operation, but as excited as I'm sure they are by City of Troy, I promise that nobody knows better than Aidan O'Brien, Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith, and John & Sue Magnier that comparing this colt with Frankel is pure "made for television" bullshit. Straight up, City of Troy would not even have been a good tow into the race for Frankel. And although obviously possessing a world of talent, I also would not call City of Troy the best 2YO since Frankel either. I mean if I'm being honest I'm pretty sure at this age that Kingman probably had a little quicker turn of foot too. A better comment might've been we think he's probably gonna be better than St Mark's Basilica was at his age. Or we think he could end up being another Giant's Causeway type that could win the stable another 6 really tough G1 races like the iron horse did in his day. Or we think he could legitimately be the kind of horse that may eventually eclipse Magical, Highland Reel, Minding, Yeats, or Rock Of Gibraltar's record of all being tied with 7-G1 wins each, representing a 5-way tie for the stable as the most individual G1 wins by a horse or horses trained by Aidan O'Brien. But when you come in at the end of a race like this as a broadcaster, immediately swinging for the fences and immediately making reference to, or in some cases outright comparisons of City Of Troy to Frankel with him literally still at the beginning of his racing career, then maybe those particular "so-called experts" should stop sniffing glue as to be able to at least crash land back into reality before going returning back onto air. That, or just move on to something else. Go back to another institution of higher learning, then seek out, pass, and secure your next degree in I'm a "so-called expert" on this subject now.
@GBertet83
so true, there definitely does seem to be a little overhyped going on, the horse has the potential to be anything? But on this performance he's very good but nothing like they are making out, I don't think it was a particularly strong Dewhusrt (but many aren't) and I wasn't quite as impressed with this race as I was with his Superlative Stakes win, although he had been of the racecourse some time and maybe 7 was a little short?

I think a Guinness mile he could be vulnerable to something with a serious turn of foot especially in slow run race , his a middle distance horse derby horse
it won't be a slow run race, I can see him leading setting his own pace, Frankel was usually happy to take a lead but remember what he did in the Guineas, this horse has already shown he's happy to do it from the front and bearing in mind Aiden has already said he doesn't get tired I think you can totally dismiss the chance of a "slow run race"
When he’s running to 2 lengths per stride and running sub 12 furlongs … he ain’t short of speed
It’s called recency bias .. every year for the past 15-20 years o brien has said a horse is potentially the best he’s had . From king of kings to hawk wing , one cool cat, giants causeway, Henry the navigator .. it’s to hype up the stable and market the sport .

I’m so into my jump racing that this flat stuff is like some weird alternative universe. I live 12 minutes from Newmarket but it’s just never been of interest to me. How is Aiden O’Brien still bringing so many horses over to Newmarket from his base in Ireland? Why doesn’t he just set up a permanent shop in Newmarket?
For once O’Brien actually made sense - colt looks like a machine
He didn't know what the dame won, she never won a race at 3 let alone an Oaks. in both Oaks she wasn't in the first 3.
The dams full sister won the Epsom Derby. They have very similar names, Together Forever and Forever Together, so it's understandable if he moved the names up. The dam was still a very nice race horse for sure, and has been a very good producer.
