FYI the maggots aren't slimy or gross like you would think. Can feed them fruit and veggie scraps so this makes for a nice closed loop system for raising chickens, ducks and in my case a resque Ani. Look up black soldier fly larvae for lots of different options. The bucket method is very cool. By
Technically they are black soldier fly larvae or bsfl. They grow to about an inch. Don’t smell at all and is about 30% protein. It eat nearly anything and fast too!
Can this be modified to accommodate black soldier fly larvae, like having a place to attach corrugated cardboard? Since bsf only lay their eggs not directly on, but adjacent to, the food. The black soldier fly kit plans out there are quite difficult for someone like me
Thank you for not showing the actual maggots, I was interested in seeing how that thing worked but I have a horrible phobia of maggots lmao so at least my curiosity didn't get me scarred😂
This is brilliant thankyou for sharing Just watched farm with guinea pigs cleaning weeds and keeping grass mown and then cooking them for food. And another channel has sprouts for chicken and rabbit food. Have seen years ago meat rabbits fed with just barley sprouts and were fat. Australia is in chaos we have shootings and car bombings daily very little on news was on CNN in states. Have anymore ideas for shtf ideas will be muchly appreciated. Stay safe 🙏👍
Thank you for bringing this to light! Had a friend who married an Australian woman, and they honeymooned in Australia. When he got back to the states, it was just as the big push to turn in fire arms was happening and he predicted the shtf . The doctors killed him during the lockdowns in 2020. 😭
Nice design. I’m gonna try a couple. wonder if the maggots would be smart enough to go down to the meat in they hatched in the bottle. You could put some cardboard in the bottle for the flies to lay on.
I had something like that once. They didn't need the hose at all as the insides would get moist enough that they could crawl up the container's sides easily.
Recently got 4 chickens n I'm deff guna copy paste ur design bruv big 👍
Did it work for you? We are planning o getting 4 chickens too
@@KingsDaughter.They never report back lol
Man that New Yorker accent though 🤣
It's fantastic!
Makes me miss the north!!
Sounds so good. 😊

Very good educative and innovational please keep me updated when ever there is anything new. Thank you
Some maggots can be harvested for fish bait, too. And be sure to harvest the maggots before they become flies.
GROSS! I can't wait to try it out! Thanks
Thanks I think I will give this a try

Our traps never catch bsf. Only house looking flies.
That's very smart
I've been seeing videos of maggot farms hold on

Just drill a hole at the bottom of the rotted meat bucket and put it on top of the maggot bucket.
They instinctively climb upwards I think.

How long does it take until you harvest
How well does it work? I’d love to see a video showing that.
Yes please could you show us the next part.....here from South America
I moved and can no longer have chickens where I am but it worked PHENOMENAL!!!
How/how often do you harvest the maggots?
Tyyyy next time show is the maggys😂
I saw maggots eat a 400 lb pig in about 5 days crrrazy
This is brilliant thankyou for sharing

Outstanding, thanks for sharing!
No worries!

How long does the whole process take
Would like to see the results
Thank u
Very smart
Would those magots carry other bacteria and kill your ckickens?
I just started mine , farming black soldier fly … I uploaded video of how I attracted wild population to lay egg for me
Thank you!
Man took Red stone to a hole new level
❤❤❤❤❤
Great idea!!
genius!
Did you sacrifice one of your chickens to get some maggots? Lol
What makes the maggots want to start crawling up the hose? Then what makes them change direction and crawl down? Why didn't you show the result?
Any updates?
VERY SMART AND SIMPLE. I AM GOING TO COPY IT SO I NEED COPY RIGHTS PERMISSION 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
So the video was not enough for you, now you are reading comments.
Some bugs come on same holes as flies and eat the eggs and maggots
Well did your maggot bucket work?
So, been about a month, did it work?
Meat didn’t look rotten to me lol
When the rot gets too bad take it fishing!!
great video, to the point and very helpful
Many thanks and kind regards from Australia 🇦🇺 👍
How deep is the flour in the small bucket? Can you freeze the maggots, and feed them to the chickens later?
A Rose yeah you can freeze them and use later
I think, i'll fry them, and save for chicken food. Long age
very thin. just cover bottom of bucket
is it fly (house or blow flies) maggots or soldier fly larvae?
Great Idea 💡
Why would the maggots crawl into the tube away from the food😂
OH MY GOSH SUCH A COOL VIDEO. I LOVE MAGGOTS. SO CUTE--SO SQUISHY. YOU ARE SO SUPER COOL FOR THIS VIDEO IM YOUR BIGGEST FAN
That Can Get Into Your Stomack Through The Fish An Eat You Inside Out. ( NO Way For Me.) Indeed, 😇
@@carolsimpson7124 Small price to pay, really. It's a risk worth taking.
Did it work good?
It worked Phenomenal
Maggots eat chicken, then chicken eat maggots😮
is this result.
Wait... why do they crawl into the hose?
Just their crawling instinct
they need dirt to transition into their next phase so they instinctually crawl towards a source of dirt
What mags the maggots crawl through the hose into the small bucket??
Part of their instinct to crawl out.
0:31 only meat is used?or other waste too?
Decaying vegetables will work but it tends to be easier to add compost
Follow on video please
You want the stench to come out
@@_Red_Hand_ so it draws the flies to the organic material inside.
Yeah but why do you even want maggots?
Only chicken/fish farmers understand
@@fresh6993 I guess so but that's something they should've explained in a vid because most viewers won't be farmers.
@@kc4rilbut most people know it is for some sort of farming🙄
@@Brandon-7357 Most farmers know that, but most people aren't farmers and they'd be like year but why do you want a huge bucket of maggots!!!
