  • In this video I take a photo of the Black Eye or Evil Eye Galaxy and the image turned out to be my favourite photo taken during the 2021 galaxy season. For this image I used the Skywatcher 190MN, the Asi2600mc pro and the Skywatcher NEQ6 Pro mount. The final image consists of 100 x 5 minute subs. Please let me know your thoughts below.

What a result Russell, I should think you are pleased with that!
At only 1000mm on that target, at least with your 2600mc pro you can afford to crop ok without loosing to much detail! Nice job👍

Thank you very much Simon, really appreciate it 😊 I’ve been really impressed with the 2600mc pro so far. It great to have those extra MP for cropping :)

Great capture Russell! I did this once with the z81 and it was just a dot lol. You managed to pull out some good detail for the focal length, impressive!

Thanks Joe, it’s such a great target! I could do with more focal length, temperated by the Edge HD for next Galaxy season! I’ll keep an eye out for you videos and images with it :)

WOW, I just tried to photograph this galaxy last night, and failed miserably. What a beautiful final image you came up with. I was wondering if you used any filters with your camera? Do you think you could do a short video on how you approached processing your files for this image? Thank you for sharing. Subbed.

Thank you very much, no I don’t use any filters with the 2600mc pro. I’m lucky that I live in a bortle class 4 area so the sky is pretty dark! I’ll try and put together a video of the processing over the next few weeks, most of my processing is pretty basic stuff in PixInsight. Thanks so much for the sub and sharing the video, I really appreciate it 👍

It boggles the mind…so much space out there! I’m sure there is life somewhere else in the universe 👍

Nice capture Russell. Your dog destroys balls like my two, except they play tug of war with them and leave pieces all over the garden.
