  • This video showcases the climate solution implemented by Kasa Initiative Ghana and Keta Ramsar Centre NGO, in the Volta Region of Ghana, as one of the eight projects supported by BASE in its inaugural grant scheme.
The main activities included: the restoration of 3 hectares of degraded mangrove forests; awareness-raising and volunteer training sessions with more than 250 participants to highlight the importance of mangroves and promote long-term monitoring and sustainability; and training in new entrepreneurial skills to more than 120 women and youth, to explore alternative activities, using local materials and with very low investment, to reduce the pressure on the use of mangroves.
Through the implementation of this actions concrete solutions were offered to build resilience to sea level rise, ocean heating and coastal erosion that resulted in the destruction of mangroves and livelihood options for the communities.
