Great review... You deserve more thumbs up 👍🏿 Thank you
Thank you, appreciate the kind words
Great review!!
Thanks!!
Thanks for the review :)
Thanks for watching. Would you be getting this lens?
I really appreciate your review & agree with all you've said. On my Sony A7IV it is the best long lens I've had in my 78 years. I will check your other reviews as I like how you address the len's performance on it's own merits.
Thanks Barney for the kind words.
Feels like you love this lens more than anything from Tamron's offering. I'll look for that video next. Also, your evaluation of its performance as being superior than Tamron's is different from others on this platform. I thought I was going to settle for the Tamron for its compact size but, you make this lens very interesting beyond it's already impressive focal lengths. Good to find you here, Bobby!
Thanks for watching. I like the Tamron for its size but the increased focal length of the Sigma with faster aperture does make this very appealing. Also found the burst mode to be faster in the Sigma than the Tamron. The Tamron is a good lens and enjoyed it, but from my experiences the Sigma is the better performer.
Awesome thank you for this video. Def grabbing this. I have 14-24 24-70 sigma and both perform amazing on my a9ii this will be added.
Thanks for watching! Yes will be a nice addition to the A9II
Thank you for an awesome honest review! I think I am going to purchase this over the Sony 200-600 because of the minimum focus distance versatility
Thank you for watching! Minimal focusing distance is a plus for sure
Awesome review!! I went ahead and purchased this lens! Question... How do you edit your photos? I love your work
Thanks Brandon. Usually I start in Lightroom and then photoshop if needed.
Thanks for the video. I would love a side by side comparison with the 200-600mm and perhaps with the Tamron 150-500mm.
Perhaps in the future I can arrange both of those lenses.
I second this ☺️
I just placed the order for this less than an hour ago. Very excited about this lens!
Congrats! Enjoy the lens
@@GeekCulture thanks!
Wow, great review and news on focusing performance, I'm seriously considering this lens for my Alpha 1. You said "I've had it set to it's optimal settings, as I've learned to take advantage of those features on the Alpha 1". Briefly, what are those optimal settings? Thanks!
Thanks for watching. One of the main things is setting AF-C priority to Release. Set RAW files to compressed or lossless. AF Point to wide or zone
If you've got an a1 the sony 200-600 is clearly the best option.
Perhaps, depends on one’s needs. Teleconverter yes, internal zoom yes. Aperture range not quite and size when travelling the sigma is shorter. The 200/600 is a fantastic lens and not knocking it in the least, but also need to take in the strengths and weaknesses of each lens and decide what is right for you
@@GeekCulture yes, I have to back packs and the Sony would of fit in only my full length back backpack. I would have had to seperate both my rooms in it to make room. The sigma sits in the bottom portion sideways perfectly. Yes I wish sigma had tc but we have to weigh the + and -'s... Keep up the great content!! Also do you think Sigma will come out with a 70-200 or 35-150 similar to the Tamron?
How is video with the lens? I’ve noticed no reviewers have spoken about this for videography for wildlife and sports. Is handheld possible for video?
Reason is this lens for video will be a bit difficult due to stabilisation.
Thank you very much
Thanks for watching
You did not mention the internal focus of the 200-600mm, which is big plus over this zoom, but I agree the price is very attractive, CHEERS!
True but the dual action zoom on the sigma allows one to change focal length faster. So it’s about personal preference
They will not make a teleconverter for E mount. They issued statements back when the 100-400 was released that they have not obtained the necessary licenses to do so from Sony. I doubt Sony will change their tune for the 150-600.
Yes this is true. Hence why the Sony 200-600 is beneficial on this regard
I know that the question has nothing to do with the lens, but does anyone know in which zoo the video was recorded?
I've been looking for zoos with white tigers but I can't find any.
No prob. We filmed this at the Singapore Zoo.
I currently have this with my Sony A7rii
Just picked up the Sony a7iv. Excited to see how this focuses with the A1 processor.
Think you will be quite pleased with the AF
@@GeekCulture thanks! Your video was the one to make my decision on the sigma! I love the Sony but, it was so hard to pack. Love how the sigma packs short. Yes the wandering barrel is a hinder but it's worth it!!
I was looking at this lens for my A7RII, how does it perform and is it worth it? Thanks
Can you use a teleconverter with this lense on a Sony E mount camera?
No. Native lenses only for Sony teleconverters. How does this guy not know that? Anyone with a clue about Sony knows this. 🤷♂️🤦♂️
You were mentioning all the time the Sony 200-600 mm G Master lens. But actually that Sony lens is just a 'regular' G lens and not a G Master which would have made it a lot more expensive.
I think the main difference is the Internal Zoom of the Sony 200-600 its just so superior regarding speed and smoothness.
Hmm yes and no. The dual action zoom on the Sigma does speed up the process of changing focal lengths faster than turning the zoom ring.
The teleconverter is not allow on a Sony mount. Sony does not allow 3rd party companies to make it. Also, it is limited to 15 frames only. The A1 will be an issue. Also, other viewers found this lens is lightly lagging in AF. Hopefully a firmware can fix it. I wanted the teleconverter, that really sucks
This is faster than 15fps. The AF for me was fine. No issues.
If you can afford to get the A1 I’m sure a few extra $$$ on a lens like the Sony glass is not going to be a bother.
But is the Sony glass actually better outside of the teleconverter? That’s a good debate :)
@@GeekCulture the internal zoom is worth the extra alone, for me personally at least.
I think the smaller size of the Sigma and Tamron is what makes them attractive to me; however, I’m not a wildlife photographer, so I’m willing to take a slight performance hit for portability.
Internal zoom is nice but dual action zoom allows fast focal length change
@@GeekCulture The Sony is literally 1/4 of a turn and won't suck in any dust/moisture. Each to their own I guess... I don't want to have to baby my gear when outside.
When is it coming in INDIA..🇮🇳
Not sure. Need to check with your local camera shop or online
@@GeekCulture Okk👍
By statement from Sigma it should be available worldwide by the end of August.
To test the autofocus, find a fast moving subjects, not those slow walking/sleeping zoo animals 😂
Hahaha besides the big cats many were moving quite rapidly. I don’t show a series of images due to time and space but can assure you these weren’t all sleeping animals
