Somehow the earlier Batman was always represented in a comical form until Nolan came in and made Batman more serious and intimidating. Batman was no more meant for kids after Batman Begins.

Batman was a detective show until the 1960’s, when it became a campy, hippie show. It turned dark and brooding with the Keaton movies, then ridiculously campy with Kilmer and Clooney, then very dark with the Bale trilogy.

Bale & Keaton are totally my favourite's too. Batman 1989 was the 1st movie I ever saw in the cinema and Bale's version was great too. I like the first movies of each best aswell.
Adam West is a separate case where many generations saw that technological and directed Batman for TV.
Michael Keaton brought to life a more serious Batman with a unique characterization.

Sharky McShark That's Golden age batman. Basically, he was a hard boil vigilante detective that didn't care much about the "No kill rule" He was one of my favorite incarnations of him tbh.
You can be a hard boil vigilante while keeping the no kill rule. Take the Batman from the Arkham games for example, had no problem knocking people out and cracking a few ribs just as long as he doesn't kill people. Even Christian Bale played rough if you remember the interrogation scene with the Joker in the Dark Knight. The conundrum between Batman's no kill rule and the Joker's obsession with Batman is one of those things that made that movie so great, ditching the no kill rule just undermines the whole point and ruins Batman's moralistic character arc.
Robin Powell That's why I wasn't a fan of BvS, batmans no kill rule is so important to his character, it takes him from a morally grey anti-hero like the punisher to a true hero where its impossible to argue who the good guy is.
Have not seen it, but visually looks like some darker comics ive read. Kind of a spooky way, most definitely very intriguing, so i would pick that devilish one as the best Batman. The real dark knight!

Con el paso del tiempo parece casi caricaturesco, pero en todo caso reflejaba perfectamente el Batman del comic.... hoy creo que quien mejor capto la verdadera esencia y caracteristicas de Batman fue Michael Keaton. Le supo dar ese aspecto sombrio que el personaje tiene... claro que mucho tiene que ver tambien la vision del director Tim Burton que supo sacarnos de la imagen del comic para llevarnos a un terreno mas real y posible..... En resumen quien mas me gusto, al menos a mi, fue Michael Keaton

As much as I enjoyed both Burton and Nolan's take, there was one key thing which almost all _movie_ versions of Batman have been missing- the fact that he is "The World's Greatest Detective"!
Batman isn't just about catching baddies in-the-act, but also figuring out what they plan to do next and/or anticipate them by analysis and experimentation. That, ironcially, I must give credit to the '40s and '60s TV versions of him, as well as _The Animated Series_ from the mid-90s. And despite their age, I would like to see some of those 1940s episodes!
Nolan’s Batman does detective work, he puts together a bullet.

Agree. The superhero image overpowered the detective. However we need to factor in the limited screen time the movies have in comparison to a series.
Well as a kid in 1989 I was watching Adam West on telly and didn't realize it was from 1966, no one took me to the cinema to watch Keaton, but watched the 1992 film.
