The Ski-Doo Killed The Polaris!

- We had quite the start to the day today but it ended up being a solid day on the snow as usual. I also tested the guys avy skills which is great for any group to do. they did pretty well but of course some stuff to improve on. Then I race Matt across the lake and absolutely destroy him! A drag race across a lake of course doesn't mean much, hopefully we can find a good safe hill to race up next!
Follow the boys!

The respect and patience you have with varying skilled riders says a lot.. Thanks for being such a great leader out there.
Yeah, it shows how good person Matt really is.
Just like everyone’s there’s still times I get frustrated but it’s important to give the new riders patience
Thanks for being a brown nose Mr.Brown. here's a 🍪
@@MuskokaFreerider how do you like those 509 factor gloves? How do they compare to the klim inversions if you have tried those?
The training session was really cool, goes to show how much you care about your riders, and the safety of yourself. 👌👌
December 31st here in Cooke City we lost a rider to an Avalanche, thank you for promoting safety, you reach tons of people and I'm glad you do what you can!! For that reason alone I totally support funding your channel my friend. Not to mention I love your content...keep up the good "work"...lol.
Love to see you promoting the Avy Safety with the group. Dry runs like that are what save lives out there when the real thing happens.
Great stuff as always 👏 that drone above the clouds was uber cool 😎! Thank you, stay safe 👍
Love watching the varying skill levels still make it through some crazy terrain. If you help you co riders improve then the overall experience for everyone is better. Much respect to all of the riders, it ain't easy.
Its awesome how patient you are with the new guys! My dad & I dont get out much, went out with some of his old buddies the other week & just got left behind. Fantastic idea with testing the guys; Here in PG our SAR actually sets up a training area with 5 beacons set to timers for people to practice with their gear. Hoping for more snow cause our local spots are tracked out & crusted. Awesome video!
Thanks Matt. The Drone part was so sweet and Awesome to watch an enjoy the Heavens. Great Tips when Riding in a Group and Jason and you were awesome finding riders👍🏻
Good on you for lookin out for the other riders, keep up the great work!
Dude wow you guys are awesome running these training sessions to find the lost thanks guys life is fragile when you love the sport with everything you are stay safe guys and gals ride hard have fun stay safe
I am a firm believer in training. I use the 3-4 person in a row shovel method and swap out frequently, sometimes it takes more than a few minutes to get them out.
@@schwags1969 dude love you never stop digging
Not gonna lie those guys seemed pretty unprepared to handle a real burial, they didn't even know what to do without him instructing them and they still were quite poor at it. Too many sledders I know don't even have the bare min AST 1, let alone 2. How many guys do you know that dig snow pits rather than just blindly following Avy forecasts? If you don't dig a pit how do you really know what's going on in the snowpack?
Love to see the promotion and practice of avalanche rescue safety! Thanks for incorporating into your video!
Jan 4th and daily content from Matt, the year can now get off to a great start!!!! Keep up the great work and love to see all the avy skills testing you do and when you talk about the dangers and what you do to risk/reward the day. The last part of this comment really pertains to yesterday's video.
Great video Matt, love watching the videos . The nee brp seems like it runs good. Stay safe out there.
It’s such a balancing act to mix skill levels, hats off for doing it. A rider becomes good if they are able to ride with good riders, otherwise progression can take forever.
I literally have to watch these videos, and I don’t even have a snowmobile! 🤣
Great video! Hang in there, Dean!
First year in 22 years I don't have a sled. Bless you for making these great videos! I'll get one again next year!
I thought the drone above the clouds was awesome till I saw the avalanche exercise. You guys are all awesome.
All is right again. I'm drinking coffee, getting ready to work for the day, and watching Muskoka. Except that title, as a Polaris fanboy I feel attacked! haha :P
Man that's awesome. So jealous. I'm sitting here in Michigan, halfway through January with no snow.
Every video with avvy awareness gets a like from me, and this time the practice! Went much better than last time 😂
As always great video Matt!
Great work..showing patience for new guy
Best videos on CZcams. The only reason I pay for premium subscription in the winter 🤙🏻
Thank you for practicing the avalanche rescue. So very important.
That drone shot was incredible great vid as normal matt
That Ski Doo is quick!
Rene used to do the mock avy scenario. Excellent drill to get peeps skilled in avy recovery.
I hope you get lots of powder snow soon! To few stucks😄
You're a good man, Matt!
Dude that drone shot!
You remind me of Rene St.Onge. Great rider. Great teacher. Legend
Nice to see your group take the beacon practice serious. Because when the shit hits the fan, everyone better be. Good job
That sled of yours is insane
Awesome content!! Keep it up
Love your videos!!🗻❄️
Bahaha Dean cracked me up all day. Good sport
It tells a lot when the person who is stuck is sitting waiting for help each time instead of actively working to try and help themselves before the help arrives 🤷🏻♂️
Nice work being patient and helping boys !
My thoughts exactly 🤣🤣
Remember, if the sled makes it to the top you technically made it. You seem to have a great group of guys.
Same thoughts here.
The sled did what it was told to do...''Get to the top''. Just needed to make himself a part of that equation....
Ole boy in the green wasn't even pulling lol he's just like I'll stand here and pretend to do my part 🤣
Drone footage is so sick
Awesome video as always Matt, really enjoying watching since there isn’t ANY snow here in Ontario. Just fertilized my lawn the other day because why not.
Just wondering where’s the Dodge and how come you decided to go Ford?
Good luck stay safe
Great video. What communication are you guys using? Thanks
Good morning, thanks again!
The ejection seat was the best!!
Good seeing the training, seconds count
Great Video! Two requests for the season…. Try and get someone who is on a Expedition extreme to join you for a day…. And if the weather sucks one day, plan a big ol Newfie boil up and fire in the woods.
Great idea on the Expedition, it would be fun to see how they compare.
Yes we need an expedition Xtreme on there
Or Lynx Xterrain Brutal
Hey Matt awesome video I did notice though that your sled is sometimes hitting 8300 rpm’s and sometimes hitting 7700 rpm’s so you thing it is your clutching?
Great vids! What helmet lights do you guys prefer to use?
Jerry Jerry Jerry 💪💪
Was the weight of riders relatively the same and power of the engines?
Good video!
I would suffer a cardiac arrest trying to ride with you guys. Groomed trails only for this old flat lander. 🤣😂😜
Great videos, keep them coming.
Matt, the first day there was an usual sound coming from your clutch. You haven’t mentioned it since, what was it?
We’re seeing the same thing in the steep fluff here in Utah at 8-11K. Over and over again. The G5 Turbo R destroys the Polaris Boost. Both great sleds but wow. Especially for the Doo claimed 180hp as compared to the dyno’d 190+ for last years Boost. Where is all the HP going for the Boost?
What is that error code that keeps popping up on the skidoo?
Awesome!
That looks like a hell of a fun time. Where was this shot at?
The Beacon Check?
Where you had all your buddies come up to see if they had a signal I would assume. Could you give us some more information on that please?
28 years old ??? I thought you were in you're 35's 😅 still the best rider ever !
Love the video
I think the polaris sleds are geared down abit more than the skidoo giving less overall track speed but still I neat comparison none the less
Where do you have your gopro mounted?
What mountain is this? Its absolutely beautiful
Where you getting your suits. Can’t find anything around here in Ontario.
That Doo absolutely ate the boosts lunch
How's the Mini 3 Pro? Think about using it in search scenarios.........
🤘🤘 aye 11 seconds posted
I think Muskoka Sr needs a new tunnel bag and pack things a little more tight. haha
you should award jerry of the day again......(cough..Dean). If I win your contest it will be me. Great Vid, your a good trail boss.
Must be really awesome in those place, stay safe guys and dont go to far from each other. Rip Ken Block
You need to film Dean more… awesome riding ✌🏻
i have the same drone as u too i never fly like that its to risky
Matt, you need to get a gopro on smash...we are missing some CZcams gold out there! LOL
I've never rode in the mountains but would love to someday. Granted I'd never be riding like these guys tho and I'm ok with that
Mountain riding on a sunny day is unreal for the views
Hey Matt, I want to get my son a mountain sled. What would you think the best sled for around 5k would be
Lol. Ghosts it over the top...😂
Could hear you guys all day but never saw you. If anyone is missing a blue piece off their polaris we have it 😄
Is your cluster in metrics, or freedom units?
Where-ish was this at? Doesn’t seem avalanche prone, which I like. Ive never been out West at all. But this area seems ok to try out in.
And are y’all on CBs? That seems to be a good thing to have, especially for a group!
Loved this video!
Ok got to then end of the vid, I think I’d do pretty well if I got stuck, been stuck enough that I keep a cool head and get out efficiently. Gotta save up some money to head West! Again great videos!
You’re like a grandpa taking his grandchildren fishing. You are the wise experienced fisherman that knows where the fish are and if you are snagged you are good at getting unsnagged. Your grandchildren however need your guidance and experience with knowing where the fish are and how to get unstuck. But you still enjoy the time you have with them no matter how many times you help them
Interesting analogy hahah I like it
The Polaris has quite a bit of rpm on the skidoo and it still whoops it 😂
🔥🔥🔥🔥
I’d like to see a cam on dean and his sled just for some extra pov shots a!!? 🤣🤙
Having the right safety gear and knowing how to use it makes all the difference in a life or death situation.
Sure does
Are the Gen 5 Turbo chiped?
I remember when we used to get snow in New England😢
What riding area was this?
You should think about starting a guide service where we can pay you to come ride with you like this!🤙🏻 I’d happily drop some cash to go ride with you Dallas Jason and jerry🤘🤘
That requires a lot of time.
Badass meadow riders hahaha
its minus 32 here where i am in norway
Good morning muskoka
I too would be curious to know the difference in weight between the Matt's haha. Pretty sure Dubois is a heavier dude but it doesn't matter really. I wouldn't expect Doo to release a slower sled after Polaris set the bar last year. Competition is a good thing for the consumers!!
He’s a bit heavier but my tunnel bag and backpack is also heavier then his
I would say i have no more then 20 pounds on Matt. and between his back pack and tunnel pack he would probably be the heavier set up. I straight up got smoked lol
What’s up with the turbo only pulling 7800-7900 rpm
peak on skidoo is 7900 +/-100rpm
Matt, Awesome video with the large group of varied talent. G5 is FAST! Left the Boost in the dust. Do you ride with the Doo steering post flip-up light?
What track length are you running I can’t remember
154
Did you order a new Polaris this year. I'd like to see what you think of it compared to the G5.
He ordered a 9R but it hasn't arrived yet
I know it’s early in the campaign but you have yet to talk about low fuel issues. Is the Gen 5 not only faster but more of a fuel sipper than the Gen4?
I don't understand you guys who are concerned about fuel usage. Do you buy a Corvette for gas mileage??
Sorry we tracked it out for ya. We were there bk to bk days before.
Matt, would you ever consider holding a “ teaching day/days? I’m from Southern Ontario, I’ve been riding my entire life.. just always flat land…. Would be awesome to rent some machines and spend a couple days learning and riding with you. Probably not what you want to do… I’m sure riding with experienced buddies is much more fun.. but maybe at some point MFF will run an outfit like BBA runs??
