    The least favorite part to do for you is the most interesting part for me to watch, love it when you assembling the body... Good job!

      Thanks! It definitely was a chore to work on the TC01 body 😅 but I think after this, working on other car bodies seem quite easier now.

    It's a good looking chassis and canter lever shocks I just wish it was more hobby grade but then it would cost more.. And that's where the fun of customisations come in 👍👍😎

    • @MechanicAfterHours
      @MechanicAfterHours  Před 2 lety

      True. It's actually a very capable and fun chassis. Quite fast too. I think it just depends on what you intend to do with it. There are upgrades to get it to a certain level but you're right. It will cost more. If you want something more serious within the Tamiya line, you should check out the TA07 MSX, I think they still sell them.

  • @Askonti

    Stunning kit. Well done! I'd likely need a second body after mucking up the first, and a third to set on fire.

    • @MechanicAfterHours
      @MechanicAfterHours  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks and thank you for watching! That Formula E body was a tough one. I don't think there's an easy way to go about. If I knew I probably would've thought twice.

    Thanks for the wonderful videos of assembling RC cars. I just became a subscriber of your CZcams. I used make those thirty years ago. Now I am retired and have plenty of times and money to get into the RC cars. Things have changed a lot especially in electronics, speed control and brushless motors. I will continue to watch your videos until I feel confident enough to re-start my old time passion. Do you have a training video on electronics and controls?

  • @Mu5hman

      Hi Lucas Genair. Here is a list of the artist. I'm sorry I don't have a list of the songs immediately available. They're all licensed music: Bastien Slice, Brendon Moeller (I believe this is the London train one and if I recall the song it's Deep Into London), Velda, Aleph One, Mar Vei

    This how models should be built, I’m very similar in my methods as I race 1/10th, everything put together in a clean environment with huge attention to detail given

    @danielc4614 Před 3 lety +3

    Great build as always! I enjoy watching your builds and always leaves me motivated to build a kit. If you don’t mind, what after market rims did you use?

    • @MechanicAfterHours
      @MechanicAfterHours  Před 3 lety +2

      Thanks, Daniel C! And thank you for watching. The wheels are HPI 112812 but they are a tad wide with 6mm offset so some modification to the body is needed. In the end (run video), I went back and used the stock wheels as I wanted it lower and didn't want to alter the body any further. However, if you like it I'm sure you can make it work with some tweaks or a different body.

    Yes, your workspace is impeccable! It’s well lit, neat and you seem to have all the right tools. Incidentally, I’ve always used manual screwdrivers to assemble tamiya kits. What electric screwdriver are you using?

    • @MechanicAfterHours
      @MechanicAfterHours  Před 3 lety

      Thanks, Jason! And thank you for watching. I used to work on 1:1 vehicles as a hobby and have amassed some tools overtime. The driver is a Muchmore electric driver. I believe it was designed for RCs where the torque isn't too strong so it can help limit thread stripping. It's probably one of the best investments if you work on RC cars a lot-saves your wrist.

    Beautiful build! Is there a reason you run it on nimh instead of lipo?

    • @MechanicAfterHours
      @MechanicAfterHours  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for watching! Sorry for the late response. That's a good question. I haven't used LiPo on the builds for a few reasons--I actually travel a lot and there are times when I'm not at home for a long time, sometimes months, and I don't want to worry about monitoring the batteries even in storage mode. I also have not done competitive racing in ages so personally there's just no reason now. I do like building more than running and spend more time on the workbench when Im at home. However, I have ran some of the cars with LiPo--I just borrow them from a friend and also that friend gave me a lot of NiMH batteries :D.

  • @zerofrictioncycling992

    i keep blowing rear diff gears in mine (and rear diff pinion) approx every 20 to 30min drive time. Running 2s, castle 7700kv road edition. I have been taking a lot of care on acceleration, but still blowing them in short order. is there a metal upgrade? the tamiya plastic parts just not handling even 2s power :(. First tamiya. Love how this drives and handles, very disappointed in the gears - first car ever had issue with just blowing gears.

      @MechanicAfterHours  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching, RC Pete! Haha! I know. I prefer not wearing the gloves, really, but I have nerve damage in some of my fingers and after a while (when building) it starts to hurt. The gloves just helps me keep going.

      I got it from a Japanese seller on Amazon some time ago. Unfortunately, it seems it's not easy to find nowadays or if you find one the asking price is too steep. Good luck!

  • @neontetra1000
    @neontetra1000 Před 3 lety

    Man that looks an annoying build. It seems the first thing you have to do is put washers in the holes under the chassis!?. Also.. I couldn’t have all my hardware in one pot. Must take ages to find each part. I recommend one of the cheap painters pallets with the seperate dishes for nuts , bolts, washers and bearings etc. Also I’d have to cut all my plastics off beforehand or is spend hours sorting through sprues and picking up the side cutters . Looks like you enjoyed it tho which is the main thing. Loved your egress and astute builds.

    • @MechanicAfterHours
      @MechanicAfterHours  Před 3 lety

      It wasn't that bad to build, thinking back. The thing I didn't like as much was the tight space for all the electronics and wires-and then the body was quite interesting to trim. Thanks for watching!

  • @gyulatakacs1824
    @gyulatakacs1824 Před 3 lety +1

    I hate it when I accidentally cut or trim the wrong line on the polycarbonate bodies. It all starts to look the same after a while. Or the instructions don't exactly match what is to be trimmed.

    • @MechanicAfterHours
      @MechanicAfterHours  Před 3 lety

      I feel the same way! It's kinda stressful sometimes. However, I've seen people mark or draw cut lines outside the protective film with washable ink/pen.
