  • Here's a great definition or, better, a great "re-definition" of church! Karl Malden, as the priest, gets it right. What would happen if the churches in America adopted this sort of gritty, street-smart approach to ministry and community reordering? Sounds like the Kingdom of God to me.

An extraordinary monologue. Malden's character was based on a real-life priest who lived and worked on the West Side of Manhattan.

When Malden gets hit in the head with a can..it wasn't in the script..and it busted his head open..but he never stopped!..He never missed a beat!..what a performance..if I didn't know he was an actor..i would swear he was a real Priest!

"Two Ton" Tony Gallento and Tami Mauiello were former ex heavyweight boxers in this film. Gallento was a former bouncer who got a shot at Joe Louis in the forties and talked alot of trash before getting his block knocked off by Joe. My favorite line in the movie is the one given to the fighters, DEFFFFINATLY!
