Is it me or did you use the Hover X1 to film some shots?
Yes I did! It’s my cameraman because I can’t afford to hire one and the local ones don’t run fast enough for my electric unicycle 🥲
is there a sharpness setting for video? and is there a WB manual setting to set 3000k etc.?
There is a manual white balance setting with kelvin in 100 degree increments. But no sharpness setting for video. I hope they add it.
Can the editing and stitching apps for it also be used on insta360 footage?
Yes but insta360 studio editing is better. So actually I edit the qoocam footage in insta360 studio.
@@360vroomers I do the same, but have found one annoyance ... the Insta360 Studio (Windows) will not let me render out the "imported' (i.e. from other cameras) videos as up-scaled 4K video. It "locks" those re-frame renders at 1080. Yet, Insta360 Studio will render Insta360 recorded videos as up-scaled re-frames (e.g. 4K).

You mentioned a better dynamic range then the X3. Does that mean it beats the HDR video mode or does the qoocam 3 have a HDR video mode too?
Hi sorry I meant compared to x3 normal video mode. I don’t mean hdr video. Compared to x3 hdr video, qoocam 3 has less dynamic range. But usually I don’t use x3 hdr video because the colors look weird to me
Great review! I really like the low light performance without the overdone noise reduction. Even if it's a bit noisy I can fix that with DaVinci Resolve temporal NR. But I can't fix the over sharpening. If they add sharpening options in the menu then I will seriously consider upgrading to this cam.
I’ll plead with them to include a sharpening adjustment! Btw I found out I could record over 7 hrs nonstop with no gaps!

I am still using Xiaomi Mijia Mi Sphere as I only take photos. 62 MP sounds good compared to 24 MP. But can the difference be seen and is it worth buying the qoocam 3 ? Can anybody show photos of Xiaomi and Qoocam to compare?

My first cam was LG 360 (bad stitching., then Theta S1 (low Resolution and annoying red dot) and at last Xiaomi (with misphere transfer and misphere converter) Every cam was a step forward compared to the previous one. So maybe it is time for the next step to qoocam 3

You said the magic words... "no gaps in long recordings" 😁 Can you attach an external mic like a USB Lav? And if you have tried this, what's the quality like? Secondly, it sounds like the native 360° video export form the camera is not MP4 or MOV, but a proprietary format like Insta and GoPro so it needs to go through Qoocams software first - is that correct? Hey Rikky! I know for some users that is a big deal. Did you also see my other comment where I found out I could record over 7 hours without overheating? (No gaps).
Re external mic, sorry there isn’t one right now. I’ve asked if they can add mic support but it seems low on their priority list. As for format, it is unstitched h264 mp4 then you open the files in qoocam studio or the app.
@@360vroomers The gapless recording is great news... gaps in long videos are the reason I haven't purchased a newer Insta360 camera after the One X.
Big shame about the lack of external mic support though... in my situation, I may as well get another Max if I needed a extra 360 camera right now.

@360vroomers that's right Mic, so between the two I might as well stick with the established camera as the Qoocam 3 doesn't seem to offer any extra features that tempt me 😊
@@RikkyTang max is definitely a very good choice too but just a reminder that qc3 has the best low light so far, and is easier to keyframe (see the swing scene - 1 keyframe vs 16).
Any news on the qoocam pro/ultra version?

The invisible selfie stick is visible?
In this case the selfie stick is partially visible because it has 4 cameras at the same time. So they can see each other to some extent. The x3, being the thinnest, can see the others most clearly.

I like it so far. If they sort out the color issues and add a sharpening adjustment, I'll use it over the Insta360 1-inch any day.
Nice! Personally I still prefer 1 inch 360 video quality but can’t beat this for the price. I hope the can fix the colors and sharpening.
@@360vroomers I like the 1-inch video quality too, but I don't like that it constantly overheats, and that giant sun glare it gets is insane.

Thank you very much for the review and video files. You can upload more examples of photo files to DNG8, DNG Bracketing. Apparently this camera should be very good at shooting panoramas. This seems to be her strongest characteristic. Thanks in advance!

This product has serious audio issues with audio. If you shoot continuously, it puts a 10 second loud high pitched squeal in each stitch occuring every 5 minutes. Not that you could hear it while editing because the software doesn't play audio!!! So you literally have to edit your video with no sound only to hear high pitched noises after it is done being edited. Can I also mention, the app you have to use to edit your footage isn't supported by Google or Apple. So your computer and phones will keep blocking you from using it, thinking it is malware. I do not recommend this camera until they get their app and the camera itself, fixed.

Just tweaking the software can be solving the problems this camera has. Overexposure can’t be a problem to solve.

I bought qoocam cameras before, and I'm always left with more to be desired, which is a shame because they make good hardware, but they need to work on the software side of things more. I'm going to pass on this 360. I know the GoPro 360 camera is coming out soon, and I'm looking into investing in 180VR more.

Finally someone who mentions that awful gap on the insta360s! I had to give up on Insta360s because of that. I have had 3 Qoocam 8k, and the battery has failed on two of them. I just hope the Ultra gets launched before the remaining camera fails.
I recommend to keep the battery at around 50% when not in use. That’s when the battery is healthiest.

Insta360 gap at 30 minutes is inexcusable and easily resolved (yet they fail to listen and fix).
The QooCam 8K battery is lousy and non-removable. My solve has been to attach the smallest (yet compatible) battery to the stick. This works perfect for my uses (I do not worry/care about 100% invisible stick). However, the QooCam is very picky about which external batteries will work with it. I am pretty sure it has to do with high amps?
Hearing your comment about the q8 makes me really happy that I bought the Theta Z1 when it first came out. The choice was between those two and for once in my life I actually made it the right choice. 😂
Z1 is better for photos but I like qc8k for videos. I hope qoocam ultra is basically a fixed qc8k. If it is and they price it aggressively then it will be a damn good camera.

Hi yes I have two of them. The first one was a prototype. The second one is a retail version. I didn’t do an unboxing because I find those boring. It’s just a white box with pictures, similar to insta360. Includes a usb cable, battery, lens caps.

I hope Insta360 can fix the gap and overheating in the next update.
I’ll request them to fix the gap issue. I think it is doable. As for overheating, that might be a design issue that cannot easily be fixed by firmware update.
@@360vroomers I and others have been complaining about the gap on the Insta360 forum, everyone needs to go there and "pile on".
I hope they apply the same sensor as the Go3 to the 1".
Insta360 hasn't addressed the gap problem since 2018 (with the One X) and its been there with every one of their consumer level cameras since... so don't hold your breath!

Yes the white balance is wonky. If the white balance is corrected then the color looks more normal.

Hi kupua. Are you referring to the line that you can see? I was shooting with 4 cameras at the same time and they could see each other. I’ll do a video with the qoocam 3 by itself so that you can see the stitching under normal circumstances.
@@360vroomers no I could see that in the shadow but I’m referring to the ghosted/artificial line
@@kupua qoocam 3 uses offset lens design like gopro max. That design relies on optical flow to bend the stitch lines together. So maybe that bending is the line you’re seeing? Anyway I will upload a video of just qoocam and you can see if it is still an issue.

349 is about as much as i would pay for an actioncam of this class i think the insta360 and gopro are just overpriced tbh

Hi Ian. I’m sorry but that was because I put it on a bracket with 3 other cameras (look at the shadow of the cameras). They could see each other. If I’m shooting with just qoocam 3 then the selfie stick will be invisible.
