Fun fact: there's a fantastic Star Wars hack for Burning Wheel called Star Systems that's super enjoyable. Played a short campaign using it and it was some of the most fun I've had in tabletop roleplaying.
As a *certified* pathfinder 1st Ed enjoyer, and someone who enjoys playing all kinds of systems, from Rifts to Call of Cthulhu, hearing my character say that DnD is the way to go wounds me
Youve just made me realise Ive been playing dnd for 5 years, Ive seen players go, players join, the loss of pizza night, moving to a different building(luckily right next to where I live). I always go for roleplay based characters.... and end up with 19AC, I cant help it ;-;

To be fair, half the fun of tabletop roleplaying games is having a text document filled with character ideas that will probably never be played (most certainly not me coping hard over the fact dnd for me has been delayed indefinitely for months or anything 🥲)
Its fun to see stuff like this and see what systems people pick, I think I'll take a peek at burning wheel because of this Bonus points for calling it like it is and saying D&D is the olive garden of Tabletop RPGS
Def identified more with the speaker than the player here 😅 Being forever GM of some 10 Years always nerding out over new systems, books, mechanics, and how they benefit different aspects of RP As such, out of all the roles id play, being inexperienced player hesitant to new systems is a strange one lol

Passion really does add something extra. Like you watch someone talk about a hobby or a game or anything really and the little sparkle lights up in their eyes and its soooooo endearing! I don't give a shit what they're talking about, I'll just nod and smile. It's so infectious! I would have fallen immediately! lmao
It’s funny cause it’s true. During one of my sessions my players used literally math to calculate the speed, distance, and force behind every spell they used! Like, come on! I didn’t come here to listen to my math teacher! Other then that it was super fun!
Burning wheel huh? I’ll look into it. I’ve been desperate for a good character driven game. My only regret is not using more dice than d6s. The math rocks, they beckon. Their clack a siren song…

I just got into the Lancer system so I kinda get where DM’s coming from. I also want to try Godbound at some point as well.
