When he mentions the words demon and monster...that's a direct blow to his fragile self-image. Notice the painful contortion of pain in his face at the mere thought of being labeled a monster. He can't take it. Never mind that he raped an underage girl, abused his mother, drove through a parade and killed innocent people - You never see any tears or emotion for that...But the minute you hit where he lives (his frail, fragile ego) - you see all kinds of tears and remorse.
This guy will never know the total pain 6 families feel, 5 families lost grandparents 1 family lost a child.
He will know pain when he's getting those cheeks clapped for the next 50 years
And I also think about the sheer terror parents felt having to protect their children from getting hurt. Or the man who’s pregnant wife who got hit. You don’t get over that quickly.

An opening statement usually includes the defendant is not guilty of his crime and the facts will show that. He didn’t say he wasn’t guilty just that it wasn’t planned or intentional, and pretty much admitted guilt

This guy purposely ran over two rows of a marching band and kids that were along the side of the road and HIT THE GAS when one got stuck under his car. There is no amount of crying that can change what he did PURPOSELY and INTENTIONALLY. He even ran through a barrier to even get on the parade route and then swerved from the other side of the street to hit them... over and over he pulled kids under his car. He's a monster and he belongs with the other monsters in federal prison.

I think after three felonies and 5 misdemeanors they should be held in prison either until they have frequent counseling sessions and can and can pass a psych evaluation and can hold a job for two years straight showing they can survive and fit back into society while paroled.
