The Oak Ridge Boys Singer Joe Bonsell dies at 76 cause of death revealed try not to cry 😢
Singer Joe Bonsall, a longtime member of The Oak Ridge Boys, has passed away.
Bonsall was 76 years old and died from complications of ALS(Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). He retired in January after battling the neuromuscular disorder for more than four years.
Bonsall was a member of the Grand Ole Opry, inducted into the Philadelphia Music Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.
He loved singing. He loved to read. He loved to write. He loved to play banjo. He loved working on the farm. And he loved the Philadelphia Phillies. But Jesus and his family always came first-and we will see him again on the Promised Day," The Oak Ridge Boys website said regarding Bonsall's death.
Bonsall requested no funeral and his family is asking for privacy.
Bonsall announced on social media about six months ago that he was leaving the group.
“Many of you know I have been battling a slow onset (over 4 years now) of a neuromuscular disorder,” he wrote. “I am now to a point that walking is impossible so I have basically retired from the road. It has just gotten too difficult.”
Bonsall noted that “it has been a great 50 years and I am thankful to all the Oak Ridge Boys band crew and staff for the constant love and support shown to me through it all.”
