Perhaps it was the phrase "let Darren shine", where the other comment was coming from, as if Darren was not already known and outstanding at that time.
In any case, Mori and Darren are undeniably a powerhouse duo. ALL of their duets are great and remarkable, and both are equally great. Like they bring out the best of each other whenever they share the stage.
She sings to impress people,
Darren’s Wishbus performance of Chandelier is what catapulted Wish on YT because it went viral. This performance is an impromptu performance which the audience requested from them. So they only had few minutes to do the arrangement
Darren was born and raised in Canada to both Filipino parents. He started as front act at the very young age to Filipino singers who would do shows in Canada. He joined Canada's The Next Star and was the youngest finalist of that show. Then his family flew him to the Philippines to join the Voice Kids and the rest was history. He was the youngest Filipino Singer by far who was able to fill the 20 thousand capacity Arena in his major concert at the age of 14. Morissette also came from the Voice Philippines and yes they have the same coach in that show.

Hey guys! Great reaction to Morissette as always. I particularly love the moment when Morissette cues the band and turns to Darren like an older sister and takes him by the hand to lead him through the end of the song. Only a few years older than Darren, Morissette has the intuition of a pro and takes Darren under her wing. Unselfish, great artists!
Remember that the Philippines has a whole network of singing competitions at the local, Barrio level. At least a few hundred per year. So lots of singers are filtered to the top by their mid teens. Plus Fils put a big emphasis on live, no auto tune singing.
Darren is a very intelligent singer. To be able to pull off an impromptu performance at a tender age of 14, man you’ve got to be a prodigy! Not only that he was singing the right notes. But the timing! I remember there was this one reaction video where they applauded Darren’s sense of timing. He was the one doing the lead melody and he given there was NO BAND REHEARSAL PLUS A LIVE AUDIENCE. Man that was such a feat for a 14 year old young man!

Sarah Geronimo was the coach for him, Morissette Amon, Zephanie Dimaranan, Lyca Gaironod, Jason Dy. All of which became popular after competing in The Voice Philippines 🇵🇭 franchise.

Both Darren and Mori were coached by Sarah Geronimo in their stint with The Voice. Darren is like Mori's baby brother. They are quite close. In the Philippine music scene, artists help and collaborate with each other. Established ones guide newbies which is probably why we have many talents here. Fans quibble with each other fighting for their idols but the artists themselves mostly encourage each other.
Although Darren and Mori ended up with the same coach on The Voice PH, I believe they already have those trademark or styles in singing way before The Voice.
There are numerous videos of the younger Darren and Mori, before their The Voice PH days, that you can watch for your reference.

Hi Josh and Lucas, it's so fun in a very nice way to watch your reactions. It's pretty much the same way I react. From what I learned about this performance that this was an impromptu. The fans asked them to sing chandelier since they both cover this song. Morrisette and Darren just practice at the backstage, exchanging cues on what to do next then went on stage to perform and it was indeed so amazing to watch and listen. Thanks for your time and wonderful reactions.
both morissette and darren joined the Voice Philippines and the Voice Kids Philippines respectively and both were under the coaching and mentorship of one of the judges .. Sarah Geronimo... she is a good singer too.
Next is "And I'm Telling You" of Morissette at her concert in her hometown in Cebu called "Morissette is made in Cebu" the grand finale. This is still a very vey powerful performance after she sang 25 songs! Insane!

Without taking anything from Darren, who is a great, great vocalist and performer, you can see how Morissette enjoys performing with someone amazingly talented. She feeds off their vibe and can let her talent go free; unrestricted and without fear of overshadowing the person joining the stage with her. I love seeing Morissette not holding herself back/restricting her talent just to “match” the other person’s singing ability which is at a lower capacity. These two are incredibly gifted.
I don’t think Morissette is better or has more to offer than Darren…both are equally talented..I am not a big fan of acreamer and high note..so I think not all would agree with you… between Morissette and toni braxton…by far I’ll go for toni braxton… I just hate whistle very annoying…. Anywho…both Morissette and Darren are uniquely talented…. You have you preferences and I have… just be little sympathetic to other’s…a fan like you makes Morissette look bad..
@@daniellaalejandralee3612 Yes I also agree. What makes Darren more interesting for me is his YOUNG AGE. Mori was 5yrs Darren’s senior by the way. And he was able to match Morissette’s singing at a very young age. And take note that this was an impromptu performance. For someone who’s Darren’s age. Doing an impromptu live band performance would definitely scare you. But Darren stood there side by side with Mori as if it was just a normal thing for him to do. And there wasn’t any single mistake in this performance. Darren is indeed a musical genius.

Morissette is 26 now, so she would have been 19 if this was 7 years ago. You can see Mori signalling Darren at times and signalling the band as well toward the end of this impromptu performance. Only in her teens and Mori already had the chops to be able to help direct this duet on the fly!! I cannot get over how talented our Queen is!! Mori rules!!!!
Really ,it was an impromtu duet request by the people.Even Mori did not know what will happened in front of the stage.Darren really killed it by his own way like he did on The wish bus at the time he cover it.Just is it.

Morisette is known for her squeaky, and whistling sound, that is her signature sound when singing. She does those sound naturally or incorporate it when she is singing.

Popular actress-singer Sarah Geronimo coached Morrisette in 2013 when she joined The Voice Philippines which ran for 3 months on national TV. The following year, Darren auditioned for the Voice Kids and chose Geronimo as his coach too. Like most, if not all Filipino singers, these two started singing at a very young age and had been competing in various singing contests before appearing in The Voice.
You should see the video of Darren, Lani Misalucha (an absolute legend OG singer of the Phillipines) and Jona (another insane singer) singing opera. It will definitely show versatility.

Darren and Polina Gargarina were both contestants on the show 'I Am Singer' They had a production number that they did together along with a 13 year old Daneliya Tuleshova of Kazakhstan who had sung in Polina's stead at The Bravo Premia Awards, like the Asian Grammy's so as a reward Polina had her sing and walk the red carpet with her and Darren and a Chinese rapper named Aire Ai. 👑 Morrisette said in 1 of her interview with a reactor that she never really had a voice coach/ teacher. That she seeked 1 out in the past 4 breathing control, but not for singing vocal training. She never had any formal singing training, she's self taught. Look it up. It's on YT.

But, just to tell you the reason why we love the WISH BUS is, it doesn't just highlight Filipino singers who does this as a profession. They also invite random people who had gone viral because of their singing ability. A very good example you may want to look into is a cover by "To Love Somebody" by Bunot.

speaking of singers who're right there in the US of A or in Canada, there are at least 3 filipino singers whose focus is on their vocals, more than anything: Jessica Sanchez, Angelica Hale, and one who just joined the new season of american idol. i'm pretty sure there's more of them, but they're the ones i remember, off the top of my head. it might actually be a good thing for you to react to tyson's audition asap, coz he got the platinum ticket for a very definite reason!

Love your reactions! We hardly ever see performances like this in the US, but in the Philippines it is fairly common. They still do variety shows there and see big name stars sing together more often than like here in the States.
