    At least you did not do what a friend did with his Google Home. Imagine 20 visitors, his house has smart switches, routers, outlets all connected via home assistant, and one person bellows out "Hey google turn off everything". Not only did every controlled power outlet, almost all the houses lights, smart TV's and consoles also turned off. Now to really top it off the router also turned off the connection to the net, AND all wifi access to the network (That was set up for when they were away to avoid people using their WiFi), and there was only one hard wired PC in the whole house, the rest relying on the now non existent WiFi.
    He got a laser engraved pen as a memento the following year :)

    I only have Lightburn but testing with EZCad seems harder to dial in settings no?
    Toward the end, Tachy mentioned Lightburn's (paraphrasing) inconsistent output? I'd like to hear more so I can trouble shoot issues when I'm working on new materials.

      This was filmed quite a while ago (many many months) but thought there was some educational value to the process we took troubleshooting and tuning marks that this could share. The issue with lightburn and UV (and also the material test tool) all seem to be worked out and working great now, so shouldn't be an issue from what we understand and have seen. The previous control method for UV's on lightburn beta didn't give q pulse control which caused power variances and limited output greatly, and also there was previously a bug with the material test tool, which should be sorted from a few updates back we believe.

    Hello, I have not yet been able to engrave glass (containers, glass, cups), there is a difference between engraving normal flat glass, and engraving cups or glasses

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  Před 11 měsíci

      There is indeed. The UV wavelength is much much shorter than that of a Co2 or fiber, and following that trend, your focal range (area in focus) is much shorter. That said, you only get a couple mm of focal range, so it can be very difficult to work with curves on a UV, and often are limited by power when moving up on lens size to get more focal range. We have a couple videos/streams discussing UV with both rotary and project mark/cylinder correction styles of marking. If you haven't checked those out, would say that would be the next video that might help with that. If you search the channel for UV, they should come up for you. We'll also have more content coming with doing round objects on UV soon.

    Jpt is better than inngu source? I have a jpt fiber and i am very satisfied.

      While this is a more recent upload, this was actually recorded a while back while we were hanging out and testing. They are both good brands as UV laser sources, just behave differently and have their own unique things to keep in mind when tuning settings.

    How many watts is the uv laser your using?

  • @peterbalholm2138

    Based on my own UV laser experience, the figures you give are slightly too low frequency and vastly too short pulse width. When I try 10 KHZ and 10 nanoseconds or 100 nanoseconds, I get nothing. My machine is set with microseconds (us), each of which is 1000 nanoseconds. Generally I operate at 400 mm/s, 55kHz, and 3 microseconds pulse width. This works very nicely for glass. I don't know exactly how your machine would be different, of course.

    • @peterbalholm2138
      @peterbalholm2138 Před 11 měsíci

      At around 13 minutes in, you seem to be moving toward similar figures, with microseconds substituted for nanoseconds.

    • @LaserEverything
      @LaserEverything  Před 11 měsíci +1

      UV lasers brand to brand, and even model to model in some cases, use very very different values for pulse width and frequency. For example, JPT 5w sources are polar opposite to the inngu 5w source in this video. They simply don't use the same values and the pulse width is inverted. That's part of the difficulty with why we had such a hard time deciding and implementing a method of sharing a library for UV, because the values aren't really compatible when it comes to that kind of conversion. We can adjust for differences with model/brand for fiber and Co2, it's not quite always that way with UV, at least in our experience. TLDR basically, that's where a lot of the differences will come from when comparing UV values across brands and models, and seeing wildly different results and ranges that are effective for each one. Huge leading factor as to why we setup the community library for UV the way we did, so values could be shared by specific model to help focus the results for relevance for each user's setup.

      @@LaserEverything interesting thing, i have both inggu uv 5w and jpt 5w uv, the inggu brand for my experience wasn't reliable at all, hope jpt will be better. Doesn't figure out well that you mean when you say that pulse width is inverted , with inggu brand with Q-switch set at 1us it was max power and 30 the minimum. With jpt goes from 1 to 20, but after have burned inggu source two times i would not use 1us q-switch set unless i am sure of doing it correctly. Also, do you think it is necessary to warm up laser (expecially air cooled type that hasn't to wait for water being at 25 degrees), and to do that fire at maybe 20 us and 80 khz for 20 seconds? Also, how do you allow laser source to cool off before turn it off and do you wait some seconds from turning off software, than laser source - mirror and finally main board ? btw, you're doing well keep following u
