- CALL ME BY YOUR NAME is a sensual and transcendent tale of first love, based on the acclaimed novel by André Aciman, written by Oscar® nominee James Ivory and starring Armie Hammer (The Man from U.N.C.L.E, On the Basis of Sex) and Timothée Chalamet (Lady Bird, Little Women). Its soundtrack is a mix of 80s pop, classical compositions & songs by singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens, including two songs written specifically for the film.

While the soundtrack for CALL ME BY YOUR NAME is a compilation of tracks by numerous musicians, Guadagnino decided he wanted to approach American singer-songwriter Sufjan Stevens to create a song especially for the film. “An artist for whom I have enormous admiration is Sufjan. His voice is fantastic and angelic, and his lyrics are so sharp and deep and full of sorrow and beauty. The music is so haunting. All these elements were the ones I wanted to envision in the film.”
While Guadagnino knew that Stevens had never collaborated on a movie before, he reached out. Stevens read the book, they had a long conversation, and the result was that he wrote not one, but two original songs for the film: “Mystery of Love” and “Visions of Gideon”.
The soundtrack for CALL ME BY YOUR NAME also includes tracks by John Adams and Ryuichi Sakamoto as well as pieces written by Erik Satie, Maurice Ravel and Johann Sebastian Bach. As the film is set in the 1980s, Guadagnino chose period Italian pop music (including Giorgio Moroder & Joe Esposito’s “Lady Lady Lady”) for the radio, but particularly spotlights The Psychedelic Furs’ anthem “Love My Way”. “I love The Psychedelic Furs,” says Guadagnino. “It’s kind of autobiographical, because I remember listening to that song when I was seventeen and being completely affected by it. I wanted to pay homage to myself then.”

I have just finished watching this movie for the first time last week. Everything was so perfectly executed. From the stars Acting, the story line, the color of the film. And to top it off, this song is just a cherry on top to help boost the mood of the film. This song makes me think of a lover I never had, memories that never happened. ❤❤❤

as I’m currently listening to this,I’ve turned 16.
The age I’ve always wanted to be ever since I was a kid.
Sadly it hasn’t been a good start to this new chapter.

i remember seeing this in the cinema and it was so captivating and beautiful, when the credits began to roll and Elio was crying in front of the fireplace, no one moved, no one spoke. i can’t even describe what it felt like

The same happened in my theater. No one moved. Everyone looked as if they were trying to process what they had just seen. I remember I was in tears and said to myself after Elio cried, I was like " What have I just watched?" It was soooo beautiful I can't describe it. I remember I went home, sat on my bed and started crying again.
@@lulululu175 sadly they didn't show it at a theater near my town. I don't know if they even showed it in bigger cities in germany! But I watched a review without watching the trailer and it really felt like a beautiful movie to me. After I watched it, I had such a weird feeling, I can't describe it. I watched it alone and gave the movie all of my attention. The end scene really got me and I was crying sooo hard, like I was in their place and lived all these moments with them. It felt so bad and hopeful at the same time. I had these feeling with a quiete few other masterpieces but not as heavy as this time! The movie affected me and I didn't find a word to describe that feeling. It drove me crazy so I googled that feeling and it said something like 'post-movie-depression.' When a movie affects you that much, you can't even think straight and think about it for days and you gotta talk to everyone about that movie and you order the book - if there's one - and you listen to the soundtrack all the time and watch all kinds of interviews. I watched the movie like five times or something and it gets me every time. But the first time watching was really the best time and sadly I can't repeat it exactly the same way.

I know that this movie was well received by most of the audience but I do hope one day that everyone would be open-minded enough to recognize that this movie is one of the masterpieces made in the history of mankind

Films, like Call Me By Your Name, are rare. It is a beautiful and artistic look at young love and the passage of time. I recommend the book as well. It includes a moving scene where Elio and Oliver meet after twenty years of not seeing each other.

Imagine you live in a small town in Italy, it's 80s, there is a watetfall near to your house, you are sitting on the sofa, next to window, the weather is bad, your cat is sleeping in your lap, your grandma bring you a tea, it is almost night but nobody sleeps in your family, your papa is sitting in the corner and reads a book, your grandmother and mother chatting quietly in front of the fireplace, you are just looking at the darkening sky, listening this song from radio silently, wondering about your future, your life is small but colorful enough, that's a randomly night but you are happy.
