"The Dark Night of the Soul (La noche oscura del alma) is a phase of passive purification of the spirit in the mystical development, as described by the 16th-century Spanish mystic and poet St. John of the Cross in his treatise Dark Night (Noche Oscura), a commentary on his poem with the same name. It follows after the second phase, the illumination in which God's presence is felt, but this presence is not yet stable. The author himself did not give any title to his poem, which together with this commentary and the Ascent of Mount Carmel (Subida del Monte Carmelo) forms a treatise on the active and passive purification of the senses and the spirit, leading to mystical union.

I could imagine everyone who existed in this world's history watching every single person that exists today they’re watching those who gave up took the easy way out and lost their lives because they thought they had nothing left and to fight for and the souls that became before us all are as the ones who gave up their ask “why” “why they gave up” why they let the world and their fears get to them but those souls that are being asked have no real answers to that question
The knight’s the saints/ apostles even God himself asking that very question why do they give up and let the darkness consume them there is no reason to give in to the evil, the darkness their is no reason to give in to even the devil giving in to fear the doubt that is easily the weakest choice Dark force is right
