The true meaning of tawakkul is that we do whatever we can, and then leave the rest to Allah. In other words, we put our windows up, take valuable belongings with us, then lock our cars. We then trust that Allah will take care of it for us, and even if something were to happen, we can still find solace in knowing that we did what we could, and that the rest was up to the qadr (decree) of God Almighty.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said:"Allah, the Most High, has forgiven my Ummah for whatever enters the mind, so long as it is not spoken of or put into action."
Sunan an-Nasa'i 3435
It is also understood from the scholars who understand the hadith that letting yourself fantasize and amuse yourself with the thoughts that enter becomes intentional , whatever sparked in your heart was not in control thus your not accountable but if you amuse yourself with it and let it linger and not avert yourself from it that is a sin -Allah save us-
Allah SWT is sufficient for us that belief on its own is enough

This reminds me of the narration regarding the time for Fajr approaching and the Companions are helping the Prophet SAW to look for Aisha RA necklace which she had borrowed for the second time from her dear sister, Asma.. the father Abu Bakr As Siddique became upset and was yelling because they were at a place in the desert where no
water was to be found; and so they blamed her. Allah revealed to the Prophet SAW the verse about performing tayammum. And they rejoiced because they were saved, and they also began to praise Aisha RA.

Narrated Abu Huraira (RA) : Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Whoever says, 'Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi,' one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
"Whoever constantly seeks forgiveness (from Allāh) (saying "astaghfirullāh | أستغفر اللّٰه"), Allāh will appoint for him a way out of every distress and a relief from every anxiety, and will provide sustenance for him from from sources he does not expect." [Abū Dawūd]
Make it a constant habit to say Astaghfirullāh | أستغفر اللّٰه (I seek forgiveness from Allāh) with a sincere heart and you'll see the blessings and positive effects of that habit in your daily life. We have witnessed people being relieved from the darkest and most difficult of situations through this habit, others who were blessed with unimaginable wealth and blessings through this habit, and others whose hearts found contentment and true happiness through this habit.
May Allāh 'Azza Wa Jall make us of those who continuously seek His forgiveness and accept from us - امين
