      Pros; close to Wollongong.
Abundance of natural beauty and environments within Sydney and surrounded by wilderness and national parks. Good employment prospects. High wages. Reasonably safe with very low non target or random violent crime or assaults. Mix of multiple cultural experiences including excellent international food and restaurants. Warm but often humid wet summers and mild winters. Three hours from major snow ski resorts. And don't forget Wollongong and it's endless beaches and rainforest escarpment is just 40 minutes south down the freeway once you leave Sydney, most important point.
      Cons; it's not Wollongong.
Cost of living is extremely high, that includes rent and property value. Limited affordable rental property with the highest on average rent in Australia. Heavily congested traffic can be a nightmare. Other than that there is just the basic cons of any major city.

I lived in Sydney for a long time and no you never get sick of the view. I have travelled quite a bit in my days and Sydney is still one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. The beaches, for a city, are second to none and the harbour is like nothing else. A commuter ferry ride is like a sight seeing cruise. It is a pity how expensive and crowded Sydney has become but I still love to visit and enjoy all the culture and great food.

As a Sydney Sider I recommend the walk from the Spit Bridge to Manly - take walking shoes and swimming costumes.
Catch the bus from Wynyard Park in the city get off bus on the south side of the Spit Bridge walk across the bridge and start walk on the eastern side of the Spit Bridge - track clearly marked - (a long walk with coffee shops /toilets along the way) - finish Manly wharf and catch a ferry or bus back to the city. I recommend before heading back to the city take a short walk along the Corso to Manly surfing beach on the Pacific Ocean.
Another option - catch a bus from Wynyard to Palm Beach, option to get off at numerous places on the route to Palm Beach.

    • @nightberg1971
      @nightberg1971 Před 4 měsíci +3

Couldn't agree more. If the walk feels too daunting, just hop on the ferry from Circular Quay, and enjoy the 20-30 min ride. Wander around Manly - The Corso, beach, and the shops around the wharf. That ferry ride is a great way to relax while taking in the sights around the CBD and Manly.

Best walk in in Sydney for sure. Would recommend a swim at Castle Rock Beach along the way. It's probably the prettiest. Shelley beach in Manly is also a pretty option towards the end. Rollers Bakehouse (before 3pmish) has the best pastries. Norma's Deli in manly for lunch.

I live in the southern suburbs of Sydney and we never get sick of the harbour and hanging out in the city. The best way to see the harbour is on the ferries. You can take a ferry to the Zoo, Manly, Watsons Bay and around to Darling Harbour. You can also take ferry to Milsons Point and visit Luna Park. The Ferris Wheel at sunset is an absolute treat. Catch a train to Cronulla and check out the southern sydney beaches. They are way better than Bondi :)

As a lifetime Sydney resident, I suggest catching a train to Cronulla, the southern most beach in Sydney. You can then catch the cutest ferry across Port Hacking to Bundeena. The most turquoise blue water! Within a 30 minute walk you can then go and see REAL aboriginal rock carvings dating backs hundreds and hundreds of years ago depicting the local sea life eg whales.
The "Royal national park" is the second oldest in the world; the views are stunning, the flora and nature is breathtaking.

I live on the Hawkesbury River near Wiseman’s Ferry. What you could do is catch the Riverboat Postman. Basically it’s the boat that delivers the mail to people on the river. Catch the train to Hawkesbury River station at Brooklyn about an hour north of Sydney jump off the train and go to the marina about 5 minutes walk and catch the boat up the river. You will probably need to book online but a nice sunny day the Hawkesbury River is really nice. A good day out and not many tourists get to see this.

I’ve lived in Sydney for 12 years and I love it ❤ lived in the city for 3 years and then moved a bit further out west but still go to the city often. I’ve done the bridge climb twice and it’s so worth it!

I will start by saying, I’m Australian but was not born in Sydney but elsewhere in NSW. I had to go to Sydney as my job required me to attend a training school for about 6 months to qualify for a higher position within the system. So naturally I live there in a boarding house until I qualified then moved into a unit with other guys as getting a position back where I came from would take awhile to achieve. So one of the places I moved to was on the North Shore, so to get to work I had a ferry ride across the harbour every working day (6 days a week). Now I’m going to say going to work was an absolute pleasure. Getting on the ferry every morning and seeing this beautiful harbour was a real treat and something I never got tired of. This brings back wonderful memories for me.

Manly Beach is a must visit! A ferry there is such a great view of the harbour too.
Be careful riding bikes without helmets too, it’s illegal in Australia to ride without helmets and you’ll be fined if the police spot you. 🚲
    Enjoy your trip! ❤

Probably already been said, but lots of my visiting friends have loved the ferry ride to Manly from Circular Quay and a day at the beach, The Corso, 4 Pines brewery and the return trip past the Opera House and Bridge back to the Quay. Watson’s Bay ferry to Doyle’s also well worth it on a nice day. Blue Mountains, Leurah, Terrigal and The Hunter Valley wine region also wonderful if you want a day trip out of town. Look forward to seeing where you go next! Welcome.

Somehow your channel came to my sight and thank you I have been to Australia I think 7-8 times and stayed for a couple of months. I am now 52 years and still miss it so seeing this makes me still wanna go back and life there again. Climbing the bridge is definitely worth it but it got really expensive OMG. So keep your money! Back in the day much cheaper and it depends sunrise or sundown.

Welcome to Sydney guys!! Catch the train to Newtown and explore King Street & Enmore Rd (its where Coldplay shot their Sky Full Of Stars music video!) - plenty of thrift/vintage stores there and great food like Bella Brutta or Westwood for pizza, lots of gelato shops too. Definitely get out of Sydney if you can. The Blue Mountains is 2-3hrs by car for lovely bushwalks. Or fly to Melbourne for coffee/laneway culture, Adelaide (Barossa, Mclaren Vale) for wine & vineyards, Tasmania for incredible nature. Australia is huge 😅

Hi just discovered you guys. Firstly smart move, I have done the bridge climb and although it was awesome it is way over prized. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay in Sydney with it's food, scenery and the people. I did live in Sydney for many years but am a country boy at heart and rarely visit Sydney nowadays. I'm not a lover of crowds. If you have the time I suggest you do a couple of road trips go bush and discover some of the country towns also. Love your photography. I look forward to following your travels. Happy days ahead for you I'm sure.

*HOLA* please be careful if you keep riding bikes in Australia. There's a percentage of drivers here who have no patience for bike riders and deliberately cut too close. It's completely different to the vibe in places like Copenhagen where bikes are part of the culture.

Next time you're at Bondi try out the Icebergs Club on the level below the restaurant (this is premium dining $$$ ❤)
The club has pretty good food and the same great view but very affordable. Go during the week though. No bookings.
And regarding the Opera House, I was at the opening 50 yrs ago and worked there but every time I see it I still get the chills, such a wonderful building.
    Enjoy our beautiful city 😍
