It’s just awful that age differences are okay for the males, but not females. If a man is dating a younger woman? Everyone says “well done! Good for you!” But to the woman? I agree that the double standard is bs and needs to be undone. For me, at least, I'm always wary of relationships with large age differences because of potential power imbalances. I've personally seen several relationships go badly because the older of the pair turned out to be manipulative/abusive (physically or emotionally). I know this isn't always the case, and I'm genuinely happy for people who make it work, but I'm always cautious in encouraging those relationships if I see any hint of a red flag. I hope I've given you some perspective on what people may be thinking!

I think mostly it's because this recent hollywood trend of middle age men dating women with 20,30 years age gaps! She's 24 and he is 45. A bit weird but they are not killing anyone but for example kate beckinsale has been always brutally criticized for doing the exact same thing. Society only see's it one way. But in your case dating someone who is in 30's it's not any difference or big age gap,Adam Driver just turned 37 its nothing, consenting adults don't need to explain themselves to the world period.

Thank you for this. My fiance is 20 years older than me (I'm 49 he's 69) and people ask me if he's my father. He is an amazing man regardless of age and loves me unconditionally just as I love him. No one should ever have to justify who they love ESPECIALLY if you are lucky enough to find it!

Oh my...these comments over someone's personal opinion. I'm an old soul and I can't help it if older more mature people are drawn to me. Trust me I've tried dating my age range and it's been a disaster everytime because of the lack of commitment and loyalty which I've PERSONALLY only been able to find in the older generation. If there had been a scandal/controversy surrounding how Florence and Zach started their relationship, then I could understand the public uproar. But all this over an age difference? There are countless couples all over the world with a difference in age of at least a decade. That's hardly unusual.

There are legitimate concerns psychologically speaking about an age gap this large. They are at different points in their lives, and this will continue to be more apparent as they continue to date. Most relationships with this sort of an age gap do not last; I think it's like a 90% divorce rate.
That being said, it isn't our business regardless of what statistically is likely to happen. She is a consenting adult, and even though I have CONCERN for the longevity and health of a relationship like this, it is NOT my place to tell her what to do.

Me and my husband have 12 years difference and I found that it's in the early day of the relationship that it impacts you the most, not later on. Older you get less impact on that age difference. I've been with him over 20 years now.
The most awkward part is I still look young and me eldest looks older then me. My man is a tall gorgeous gentle soul. If you like your partner you make it work.

I think for these two specifically, the age gap is less concerning, mostly because Zach is really quite “young”. He’s in a similar stage of life, despite the two decades’ seniority. I’m a big fan of his, but he is quite immature in a positive way. (As in, he is not an irresponsible man-child as so many in his age group, he is just very youthful and young acting.)

There is no secret formula to happiness, but it most certainly goes deeper than things like age or sex. As long as people are both consenting adults there is literally no issue. Love is love.
Engaging in relationships with significantly older partners carries increased risk. Doing drugs carries increased risk. Skydiving carries increased risk. So long as you’re a consenting adult who’s not harming anyone else, it’s your call. I suggest you stay well-informed about the risks, but it’s ultimately your responsibility to decide what’s best for yourself. If someone does something I wouldn’t, I just assume we assessed the risk differently, which can usually be explained by a difference in perspective. I don’t assume I simply know better or that I have a more moral intuition.

It makes no sense to even think about commenting about other's relationship, it's really their business and none of our concern... I haven't seen any of these comments on her Insta (bcos I don't really read them) but I can imagine they're just immature comments that warrants no attention whatsoever. No surprise some of these celebs turn off the comments.

I'm a 45 year old man. A man my age seeing a woman (or man) half their age is unusual. That said, unusual isn't a bad thing and peoples personal life is nobody elses business. Sadly, we're now told that an older white man with a younger woman is abusing their "power" which might be the case for some, but not all.
