    Passed my test first go today with a score of 115 all thanks to YOU! You deserve so much recognition for being a brilliant teacher, and an online one at that. I also love your straightforward, no-nonsense video editing style... rare to come across high quality content that isn’t heavily edited in the age of virality. Please let us know if you ever decide to set up donations/crowdfunding so I (and surely many others) can thank you for the hard work you put into this channel!

  • @jamestran361
    @jamestran361 Před 3 lety +1

    Hi! First, thank you so much for making these videos they're an amazing help. Second, I understand that the test consists of 25 zones. So is the final zone the drive back to the test center? And if so does this mean that at the conclusion of the test when they ask you to park into a spot, this is marked? Somebody told me that the test is already over at this point but I'd just like some clarification, again thank you so much for these videos!

    • @thedrivingtestguynsw8424
      @thedrivingtestguynsw8424  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi James as the test goes for about 30 to 35 mins each zone is about a minute and a bit of driving so yes zone 25 includes the last minute and driving back into the test centre. The park you do at the end back in the test centre is NOT marked. So no checks or positioning is marked. However...if you do something that is dangerous or needs the examiner to intervene for example you hit or nearly hit another car while parking you will be out. (that's my polite way of saying Fail).

I did tell her I didnt brake because the road is wet but I guess it wasnt a good enough excuse for her... I think I was really unfortunate there as It can vary between different testing officers.. and nowadays as soon as you get Fail item, you head back to testing centre and testing finishes, I was hoping to finish the rest of the test just so that I can practice the rest of the course but apparently due to covid your test is done once u get fail item...

      Hi SJ first of all make sure your instructor actually teaches you stuff and just doesnt drive you around randomly with a couple of reverse parks and 3pt here and there. The focus should be on your traffic decision so you know your stuff and the examiner doesn't have to intervene. You need to know and apply all head checks. And most importantly ... keep watching 😊

    How early in advance do you recommend booking the driving test? I currently have around 100 hours so I imagine I'd reach my 120 hours by about December or January at the latest. I've heard the test centres can get booked out pretty quickly especially with the covid restrictions.

    • @thedrivingtestguynsw8424
      @thedrivingtestguynsw8424  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Sara get your Hazard Perception test done ASAP. You have to have been on Ls 10months. Once that's done you can access the times when tests are available. If you think December is when you will be ready then see if it's available now.. Recently due to COVID the test availabilities have been a bit sporadic. Best time to go is in my opinion around 1030. The sooner you book it the more chance you can get this time. If leading up to the test you don't feel ready you can move it as many times as you like. Just give them 2 days notice.

    Hi Jim, about to do my test in a couple of hours in Chatswood. Can you give me any tips on how to maintain a safe and steady speed? I find it really hard not to look at the speedometer too much and sometimes this distracts me from looking at the road... also are left headchecks required for roundabouts with bike lanes?

    • @thedrivingtestguynsw8424
      @thedrivingtestguynsw8424  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Celine just do quick flicks down at your speedo. Sit 5kms under the limit if there is no hazard slowing you down. Other than that just do your best. In relation to the Roundabout headcheck. If there is a bike lane on the left and you are turning left, you better do a quick left headcheck just to be sure no one is there and its possible the examiner will mark it. Other than that give it your best!!! Good luck and let us know how it goes :)

    • @thedrivingtestguynsw8424
      @thedrivingtestguynsw8424  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi edotedy, yes this is a popular question. When the light goes yellow starting pushing in a bit and when oncomings have passed and the rest are slowing to stop you complete the turn. Even on red you complete the turn. Make sure its safe before you turn.

      Hi Noscop, yes i will cover this in detail in a future vid. Just a few points about your situation, if the examiner actually told you up front to turn left and then right (and if the right turn was actually 20m away that usually what happens) then i usually get students to jump directly to that right hand lane to avoid that very situation that lead to your fail item. Also another thing you could have done is told the examiner i cannot make that turn and continued straight ahead. The examiner would then have turned you around somehow and got you back on course. I will definitely cover all this in a vid.

There was a lot of traffic so the cars on the other side kept going straight or turning right, so I couldn't go. The lights turned yellow and I couldn't tell if the last car on the other side was going to go straight or sit until the next lights. I still wasn't clear and the lights turned red at this point. What do I do in this situation? Thanks.

    • @thedrivingtestguynsw8424
      @thedrivingtestguynsw8424  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Theawesomeone the scenario you are describing is probably one of the toughest to deal with. The oncoming traffic are also getting yellow and red so eventually you can make the turn. As soon as your light goes yellow start to push slowly in (don't turn yet). You are making sure everyone knows you are there and when all oncoming cars are through and the rest are slowing even if your light has gone red you make the turn. I'll cover this in Part 3 of traffic lights.
