    Great video! My experience of Full Brutal was a bit different. I thought the writing was exceptional but the plot was strained and cliche extreme horror trope-ish. Still a solid 3/5.

      I was exactly the same as that. Certainly with the people-eating and also, I think serial killers usually get away with it because they live in huge cities, or travel around a lot, not keep killing people in the same small town. Suspension of disbelief re her not even being a suspect was huge.

    Something that would be helpful and cool with your video titles would be if you label which ones you give spoilers/walkthroughs in. Just because I'm looking for videos where you walkthrough the whole book's contents. you're so awesome hahaha I love hearing your voice

      @ReadingWithMeg  Před 9 měsíci

      Thanks so much! I only have a couple where I do full walkthroughs with spoilers but they’re usually the ones dedicated to a single book and have spoilers in the title. Otherwise most of my videos are more vlog style with reactions/thoughts along the way ☺️

  • @dgooz
    @dgooz Před 6 měsíci +1

    I was so pumped to read Full Brutal but almost didn't finish it. Not because the main characters thoughts and actions are beyond disgusting and f*$#&d up. The author just came off as such a try-hard, edgelord that knows nothing about being a young woman and painting scenes that they thought would come off as shocking. I know he's an adult male but it was just so cringey. It wasn't all bad but overall really hard to get through.

  • @livinginhorror5679
    @livinginhorror5679 Před rokem +2

    I’m so glad you talked about that no kids in rated R movies. When I say this I mean toddlers. We went to go see the first showing of scream it was at 7:30 and didn’t end till 1030. Throughout the movie we heard a baby crying and Whining. I’m sorry but I’m just gonna say it if you’re going to pick yourself and you’re going to go see a horror movie in the evening time when your kid should probably be in bed you’re a BAD parent. We called the theater the next day because this seems to be happening more and more. We just talk to them didn’t have any kind of attitude they were very very nice and gave us free passes to use on any movies in the future. They even told us they had a team meeting coming up so this was a good thing to bring up to the younger associates. Just saying sometimes it helps to speak up. Sorry you had to deal with that too!!

    • @ReadingWithMeg
      @ReadingWithMeg  Před rokem

      I should have done the same thing I didn’t even think about calling the theater. This has happened the past 2 horror movies we have gone to see (AT NIGHT LIKE YOU SAID) and both times the people were just overall extremely rude and inconsiderate. Not to mention your kids don’t want to watch an R rated horror movie where people are being stabbed to death during their bedtime. It’s a whole level of selfish that people aren’t willing to sacrifice their hobbies to take care of their damn kids.

  • @Jonathan-B_
    @Jonathan-B_ Před rokem +1

    This is your cat's vlog now. Your experience going to see Scream is what I think of whenever I see articles about needing to preserve the theater going experience. Like...have you been in a theater recently? There's a reason watching at home is gaining in popularity.

    • @ReadingWithMeg
      @ReadingWithMeg  Před rokem +1

      Completely agree! The last 2 times I’ve been to a theater the exact same thing happened and that’s why I usually don’t go. Or I’m going to have to start sitting in the front away from as many humans as possible lol

    Spoiler full brutal
    An interesting take on reading these sort of books where pov of the slasher
    tests your idea of morality. The lapse in judgement of Kim in killing people so
    close to her even as smart as she is i knew at a point she was doomed.
    I like that she questions everything that an intuitive person would. Almost every
    victim in this book (except for the spree at the finale) kind of walked into their own
    trap (save caitlin and dakota) derek and amy sucked but man it shows how good a writer
    kristopher is. I had appreciated that her disassociation with reality was handled realistically
    with the baby, i was glad it didn't turn into some supernatural thing in the end... it's damn good
