These things are so quick. Once I was cruising at 140Km\h on my GSX-R750 and gave enough space for one RS250 to join the highway from a petrol station exit:
It came fast and passed me on such a short distance. The image of a such small bike doing that is so strange. Lovely smell after too!!

Nice, I miss 2 strokes. Shutting down throttle from high rpm was a good way to seize a pre-mix bike, starved for oil! I have very little experience on an oil injected two stroke, it seemed to be happy enough though. And the engine is simple enough to work on yourself, unlike modern 4 strokes.
Got to say the scenery was outstanding, and the road seemed mostly excellent.

Cant believe how well it pulls still at 100mph i thought it would crawl to 100 but you can cruise at 100 then reasonable quick acceleraion to 130mph ish...what hp is it and kerb weight?? I'm guessing about 60hp ..👍🏻

The weight is 167kg and the bike has 55hp.

167kg 😮 that's a lot more then i thought, , the 250cc dirt bikes have more heavy duty forks swing arm shock + tyres and they're 110kg - 113kg with 55hp . 👍🏻

not instantly , but it adds wear & tear /unnecessary friction heat build up . at low speeds with a light rider its not to big a deal if not frequent , not good if you're 100kg with 15kg of leathers boots helmet.

It’s not a great deal truth be told even on these.. most of the engines blew on the RS from bad maintenance.
If you did it at high speeds you really cause problem though. I would always keep a little throttle in to keep the fuel mixing in

There is literally no engine braking on an RS 250 . Gear down hard and no blipping will screw the engine in no time at all. The 4 pot Brembo brakes are unbelievably good for the road & Track.
I own one. A Tuned 97 RS Custom Rossi champ winning 99. I Just use mine for Track days now. But you got to ride them properly. Not like a 4stroke were you can get away with it being in the wrong gear.
A race bike for the roads. ❤
2 stroke heaven..
Oh and mine has 79bhp at the Crank..
