  • SEAHOUSES | Full tour of Seahouses Northumberland from seafront to beach and harbour!
We take the Gimbal Walk TV cameras to Seahouses in North East England for a look around this popular seaside holiday town and working fishing port.
Seahouses is a large village on the North Northumberland coast in England. It is about 20 kilometres north of Alnwick, within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
A long history of fishing makes the popular village of Seahouses both fascinating and beautiful. Experience local wildlife and gorgeous beaches, enjoy fresh fish and chips and crazy golf, and take a scenic walk along the harbour
This colourful fishing village has a bustling harbour, an Aladdin’s Cave of shops, and plenty of ways to see the local wildlife. Seahouses’ fishing past lives on at Swallow Fish, who have been smoking on site since 1843.
Visitors are also welcome at The Fisherman’s Kitchen, where historic fishing memorabilia and curios are displayed alongside the local catch-of-the-day.
As well as its fishing, Seahouses is also known for its history surrounding iconic Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) figure Grace Darling. She and her father took a rowing boat out to sea from Seahouses and managed to save many people after the Forfarshire fishing boat crashed into rocks. An RNLI lifeboat at Seahouses bears the name Grace Darling in her honour.
Roam the beaches for spectacular views of Bamburgh Castle and Holy Island, take your newly-purchased fishing nets, and buckets and spades to go rock pooling. You can go body boarding in the sea, and explore the sand dunes.
With the chance to see thousands of seabirds and seals, and to experience the Farne Islands and Longstone Lighthouse, Billy Shiel and Serenity boat trips offer one of the UK’s top wildlife experiences. If wildlife isn’t your thing, then you can enjoy a pint and fresh fish and chips at a local restaurant - you can even see the stunning Bamburgh Castle from the Bamburgh Castle Inn.
Whether you’d like to see Holy Island from afar, putt away at crazy golf, or visit the pristine coastline, there’s always something to enjoy at Seahouses
Seahouses lies on the Northumberland coast about 15 miles North-East of Alnwick between the beautiful Villages of Beadnell and Bamburgh. This holiday Town and Fishing Port did not exist until 1889 when the harbour was built in order to improve the local fishing and lime industries.
Seahouses is known to many as 'The Gateway to the Farne Islands' and is a very popular place with both locals and visitors. It is probably the most popular holiday resort on the Coast due to it's excellent amenities and attracts huge numbers of visitors throughout the year.
The Town itself centres on it's harbour, where you will find fishing boats mixed with pleasure boats taking hordes of visitors over to the Farne Islands. The harbour is also known as 'North Sunderland Harbour' and if you notice on Google Maps North Sunderland actually shows as the name of the Town
Seahouses is a seaside Fishing Town through and through. It is however, perhaps most famous for being the 'Gateway to the Farne Islands' and rightly so. Visiting the Farne Islands is a must while you are in the area, assuming you don't get easily sea sick!
There are also plenty of other things to do from a base in Seahouses, from watersports and horse riding on one of the beautiful wide sandy beaches to Fishing, golf (including crazy golf!) and bird watching

I went to Seahorses about 2 yes ago, I'm ashamed to say I wasn't brave enough to go to see the seals, it was a bit rough and I was travelling alone. Amazing crab sandwiches! I was based Alnwick but loved the area and did quite a bit of exploring. So much history to see and find out about.

Stunning. We've been here for a couple of years now and we love it. We took our dog Harley on the Farne island cruise, he loved it and we loved the seals and puffins. We normally base in Alnwick but we go all over, the Northumberland coast is spectacular. Thanks for sharing

Steak Pie Dinner in the Olde Ship Inn...seeing the RNLI in action (had to get out of the way of the crew belting down the road to the Lifeboat Station!) And Fish and Chips while sitting on the benches overlooking to harbour towards the Farne Islands on a clear day...heaven..

After Bamburgh castle visit(which I can't find the video on the castle in your list) we took my son who was visiting me whilst I lived in England, to Seahorses. He fell in love with it. He declared that this was his favorite place to visit. This is after taking him to Scotland, York, Scarborough, London, etc this was the best! It is a lovely village, and wish I had spent more time there. Your trainers are looking pretty good by the way! ;)

Thanks for the video, it brings back happy memories for me I lived in Seahouses for 12 years, from 9yrs till I was 21, spent many hours down the harbour watching the boats bringing in their catches, that was back in the 70s, when there still was a fishing fleet. We still come back on holiday occasionally. Look forward to watching your Bamburgh video.

Love nipping down the road to Seahouses with my kids when I visit my Uncle, the Methodist Church you went past my Aunt and Uncle got married there, he was actually down there the other week visiting my Aunts grave and commented alot of tourists were in Seahouses which is strange at this time of year as its quite unforgiving weather wise up that end of Northumberland in winter time. Spittal Beach is a lovely beach to visit if youre vising around Berwick upon Tweed area and Alnwick is always a good trip especially if youre a Harry Potter buff seeing the Castle. I highly recommend Coxons Ice Cream place in Seahouses, its the place painted blue by the roundabout near the tourist information place.

Seahouses has a large golf club on the road to Beadnell Bay, another lovely place but not much there but still worth a visit if in that neck of woods again.

Strippers have been going a lot longer than the 1800s.

This was filmed in January and is very misleading. As soon as the weather gets friendlier and warmer, Seahouse transforms. If you don't mind commercialism traffic and tons of tourist's then that's OK, but I don't, so I was hardly an hour there for a quick nosey, then gone again. It was mid April when I visited.

What a strange atmosphere. Not one person passed on the film seemed to make any eye contact, give a wave or even spoke. Certainly doesn't give the impression of being a very friendly place to visit.

Most places I film are like this at the moment Michael - think it’s just people with a lot on their mind

@@GimbalWalkTV Please don't take my comments as any reflection on your work in taking and posting this film. I know that there's a lot of hard work and commitment involved, and without people like you the world would be a poorer place. And yes. I take your point that people are indeed pre-occupied and have lots on their mind. We certainly are in strange times.
Thank you for the work that you do.

      @@michaelinnes971 No problem - don't worry I didn't take it as a criticism!
You make a valid point about people currently
Also - dont forget I'm six foot three and massive build so people tend to avoid catching eye contact with me as I head towards them!

Sorry but not my sort of place looks very grey and miserable to me when you have visited lovely fishing villages in Cornwall there is no comparison.

Well this is January - it all looks drab when shops and trips are shut up for Winter. Yes Cornwall is glorious and rugged but it's nice to see something different !

I'll go back and film it again in Summer to show you why it's so popular!
