Thanks for the video. Glock 17 seems to make more sense but there’s something alluring about the 34
Yeah it’s bigger
Indeed...is John Wick's gun.
When you bring that out in front of your buddies...they all want to try it. A Glock 17, they don't care as much.
both

Great video! No wasted words, just clear concise, and useful, information.
Great comparison. I sure enjoyed running my gen 3 G34 Sunday.
Your videos are very professional and help a lot to a new shooters thanks
Nice comparison and information
Great video! Robert Vogel won the World shoot with a g17 and usa nationals with g34. I would buy both😁
I kept pondering on 17 or 34 gen 5 mos. For a while now. pulled the trigger and got the 34..love it...
yeah G5 34 is a really pleasant gun to shoot.
Just got Gen5 34 MOS, Holusun SCS, and Streamlight TLR-1 HL setup. Can't wait for all my goodies to come in the mail. looking forward to it. Nice vid!
How do you like this setup? Considering the same. Thanks
Great info! So glad I found and subbed to your channel!
I hate this about myself but it comes down to looks for me. I think the 34 looks way cooler.
As always. Educated, logical, and to the point. Excellent video. I was actually getting ready to purchase one or the other. You made that decision a little easier. I’ll go with the 17. I don’t shoot competitions, although it’s something I would like to pursue. I just bought a new house and will be able to finally have my own range. So the 17 makes more sense right now. Thanks.
I really like the 17
Nice vid. Answered my questions.
Glad I could help
I prefer the 34. If I’m carrying IWB i prefer a smaller gun than either the 17 or 34. I prefer the longer barrel and sight radius of the 34 for longer shots in competition
Good comparison. Thank you.
Helpful. Thank you.
Good Advice Sir!
cheers thanks for watching!
Double slide lock makes dropping that slide a breeze. I use thumb and pointer finger. Works quick and efficient
I do the same. Love it
Fun fact: The Glock 34 is the same length as a 1911. If you are fine with a 1911 as a carry piece, then consider the G34 the 1911's striker fired cousin. (Hides in bunker from the hordes of 1911 elitist.)
TWO WORLD WARS!!!
Glock is better
MUH STOPPING POWER!
Next controversial opinion: The Browning Hi Power is a much better gun than the 1911. (Jumps into bunker with you)

I just bought both lol. Also have a 19x to get the best of both the Glock 17 and 19 in one and I bought a Glock 45 because I wanted the best of them both in black too. Can't go wrong with a Glock. It's simple and reliable and accurate without the $1000+ price tag. That's why I have so many of them and alot of other reliable gun's and will be buying more in the future. They are very reliable gun's thought whether you get the 34 or 17.
I know its silly but I want a 34 just cuz I think it'll look better my X300A being almost flush with the end of the slide.
That's not silly - it's a valid reason for sure.
i agree 100%
That actually makes sense. I’ve never understood when someone says they can carry a Glock 19, 17, or 45 comfortably but the 34 is too big. Although they have a light that makes there 19, 17, or 45 the same length as the 34 lol
@John Smith If its a new type which guy pointed out it was, they don't have rights to it unless they patent the design. You can scribble anything on any design. Those dudes at the gun range he mentioned, are mostly military, and some who visit are FBI checking on what they're doing. "Its just a knock off" Because someone else making a gun that you can't get from the other people is a knock off.
In China, we would toss you in the trash. If the 'knock off' functions well, why does that claim even matter? Because dude is right. You're a hick. Our nuclear systems in China are a knock off, and your government is still letting our insurgents burn down your country because they're scared of a physical war. czcams.com/video/Qtddg2KVV-o/video.html
@John Smith A new type of pistol. "STI Glock he was having done" for a GLOCK 34, a new thing he wanted entirely custom. Like the golden AK47 was first done.
"And you ain’t tossing anyone in the trash here CCP. lol" Why not? We have silently made Caucasians the world minority going extinct and you people don't even realize it yet. OOPS!
If you clicked that link, you would see STATES are already starting to back our insurgents. Where is your govt at? Lets see.. 1. CDC gets 1,200 signatures that claim racism is a public health emergency. 2. Your media convinced your FDA that the antiviral drug doesn't work. 3. Your governors & media called armed protestors that were protesting in favor of all rights against lockdown racists. 4. Media & governors call people burning down your nation peaceful protests. 5. Raytheon engineer brought our nation your AMS & missile secrets. Doesn't that involve nuclear defenses in some way? 6. Dems sent people infected with unstable and stable version of the virus to NURSING HOMES. An estimated 50 thousand deaths, and even if they die with asymptomatic(SARS-CoV-2 detected but symptoms never develop) they are still marked as covid deaths. Scaring your stupid masses.
I think we're already winning your nation. Next step? Section by section round up with media blackouts, and organ harvesting. If not? Well we have a lot of middle eastern minions over there waiting for you people to enter a civil war. Who will defend your kids from them? OH NO!! The FBI knows and is doing nothing to prepare?! Wow.. What were you saying again?
Nice job
Cheers!
Nice explanation of the flocks. I was on the fence on either one. I think the G17 will suffice. Eventually I wish to
shoot IDPA which the 17 will work!? Thanks. Holsters are probably easier to find as well...

G17 is fine for competition - especially if you mount a dot. You'd be fine - you'd be more likely to buy a gun because you wanted one than because you began giving up something to a longer slide like a 34. If the FS version of the 17 was available when I placed my order - I'd have it.
Either one is fine with me, I have the 17 Gen5 MOS though with a 5 inch OEM threaded barrel.
Great guns. The P10F is in the mail. Hope it will compare well to those two giants.
if it's anything like the P10C then I'm sure it's going to be exceptional. I can shoot lights out with a P10C. there was zero learning curve for me to be able to pick up one and run it.
@@TheHumbleMarksman I shoot the P10c and the G17 well, but a slight edge goes to the P10c. That's the reason I chose the P10F over the 34. I will most likely buy a 34 anyway, cause well, Merica.
My buddy is a beast with his P10-F...! Sweet CZ
I'm deciding between the G17 MOS or the Canik TP9 Elite Combat Executive. I really want to like the Canik, but it aggravated my shooting hand thumb's first, large joint knuckle (where the thumb meets the hand). I'm wondering if I can change my grip, or if I just gripped it wrongly. I'm also wondering if any aftermarket Glock trigger offering is anywhere near Canik's trigger efficiency. DO you have any feedback Mr. Humble?
I thought i was slick, was thinking of buying a 17 and just get a 34 slide, "hey 2 guns in 1"... boy was i wrong
I'm now convinced that we mostly pay for barrels and slides when buying glocks. Ended up getting the 34, Couldn't be happier.
Me too. Thumbs up.
What were you wrong about specifically?
@@nhollowayiii price of glock slides and barrels
Yup the glock barrel is high quality which also houses the feed ramp
Zaffiri just had a sale I bought a 34 and 17 for $800 comes with free p80 lower all parts included. Talk about a two fur one lol
"Make better life choices." For this, I give you thumbs up. :D
Also, I know for a fact that the Gen4 17s and 34's slides are the same weight. Therefore, with a stock recoil spring they don't cycle any faster or slower than each other. There is a tad extra mass from the longer barrel and the fact that there is more mass at the front of the pistol will mean that the muzzle movement will be less for the G34. Not by a whole lot and frankly not to a truly exploitable amount but different.
Bare slide weight on a 34 g5 FS with Dawson’s and a DPP- 14.9 oz. bare slide weight on a 17g4 with same sights/DPP - 14.3oz. The 34 slide milling changed with G5. Even assuming that G5 to G5 the slides are identical from the chamber backwards it’s pretty reasonable to infer that leaves the 34 still heavier. The extra ounce comes from the barrel- which is in line with glocks website where the 34 is 1.5 oz heavier. Using cutting edge bro science shooting irons me and a buddy both observed the 34 to be slower in recoil just in the sights - so much that he prefers a faster moving slide and he shelved his 34 and picked up a 17. It’s not a big difference as you state.
I have both and I love them
I can conceal a six inch barrel. No problem there. All I need is “Holsters.”
great comparison. fwiw, my times were a little better with my stock gen 4 34 over my stock gen 3 17. since, then the comparison is unfair because i've modded my 34.
I have an x300 on my G19, so the length of the G34 would not be an issue. I wish the Gen 5 was made in the non MOS version. I don't plan on adding an optic and would rather save a few bucks by not having the plate.
Kind of seems to be the direction of the market. I think Glock correctly read the tea leaves and called that 9mm divisions are moving to optics.
@@TheHumbleMarksmanToo bad their optic solution is bad.
I have been thinking about a G17 - I carry the G19
I like the 17 size a lot.
So close it's a why bother.
Just picked up my 34. Solid gun. Can't miss with it. Figuratively and literally. Its accurate as hell. That's my apocalypse sidearm. I won't even take my p226 out of the box
The 34 is a pretty awesome gun. I'm still enjoying my fleet of them.
I have a built 26, I’m doing a 19 and a 34. The 26 is basic. The 19 is nicer but still basic. And the 34 I went dumb on it. So we will see. All FDE and a holosun video coming soon
I have high hopes for all of them but mostly the 34.
Also this video makes me curious about the 17. Except having a 26/19/34 makes me really less curious about it.
@Spade check out the upload. I posted it
Awesome video, thank you ! Almost went with the Glock 34, but not in competition shooting so I’m glad i went with the Glock 17. Amy recommendations on a budget friendly optic or red dot ? Much appreciated sir
I agree, they shoot really similar. I prefer the 34 because for home defense and competition the size doesn't matter. However, the longer sight radius is an advantage and it's easier to rack a longer slide than it is something shorter--there's just more to grab on to at the front
what'd you end up paying at that time? I'm a lefty that compensates for all right controls, but the 17 offers ambi slide release whereas the 34 does not. That's not a make or break for me, but the trigger pull and muzzle flip do make me lean 34.
@@justinsane11 the muzzle flips more on the 34 than 17 in my experience. I actually just bought a 17 and changed the slide to be a 34. The lower is the same. I don't remember what I paid. but it was in the range of 500-600 and maybe 200 for the 34 slide.
@@vmanshooting that’s interesting. We already have a 19 so I guess i was going the opposite end with a long slide. I’ll have to try both triggers at the store.
@@justinsane11 the 34 trigger will be better. it's a Glock minus connector and will be lighter.
I just bought a used glock 34 for home defense. Love it.
can you please tell me which accessories you put on the glock? And where did you buy the sights and red dot?
What are your thoughts on the G34 Gen 4 vs Gen 5? I’m fine without the optic cut. Also, is there any concern with the slide cut on the Gen 4 from a reliability issue?
Gen 5 is significantly better in my opinion- if you are just in a gun store and handled both the differences are subtle but when you get used to shooting a gen 5 then go back to a 4 it’s eye opening. The optic cut is OK- you absolutely cannot use too long screws though - so test fit screws on the plate off the gun before mounting. You will need to file down some.
Who makes the best compilation trigger that’s flat face?
Gmc vs Cadillac. Ford vs Mercury.
Any thoughts on which you would pick for Steel Challenge in Production? I really wanted a 34 but I feel like the 17 might actually be better. A little lighter and shorter might make it faster to draw and move between plates, and you really don't need longer sight radius to hit targets that close. I'm wondering if the recoil impulse of the 34 would make it easier to get the sights back on target for the next shot, but in steel challenge you're moving to the next target during that time anyway. I'm a newer shooter if that changes the answer. Awesome videos BTW. Thank you for making them!
I would get whichever one you feel would help you be successful - slide movement is a little faster on the 17 - a little more gentle on the 34
The best home defense guy is the one youve worked with are comfortable and trust more.
Would you consider the g47 a direct replacement for a 17 g5 mos for competition?
Are there any uspsa matches near northeast mississippi. I havent been able to find any?
i compete with my gen4 g17 just fine .. it's my edc too
Would be nice see your indepth shootability comparison of g45 vs g17. Nowadays many say g45 has the best shootability because of the shorter slide? Quite a lot controversy on the subject of which one has the least recoil or muzzle flip and which one is the better practical shooter with red dot as that negates the sight radius advantage of g17. Can't find any videos from credible sources on youtube that would compare g45 vs g17 shootability and I bet that would get lots of views if you make it.
34 looks good
It’s pretty fun to shoot - having a 5.3” gun is kind of nuts
@@TheHumbleMarksman being nuts can be good sometimes
hello, I have a small question, a lot of people on forums say that the glock 17 is just used to defend a house, and my question is the following: is the glock 17 really accurate even at more than 30 meters? because I really like it and I would like to be able to get a lot of precision with this one
Is the glock 34 really more accurate than the 17?
You’ll get the same accuracy from both
Thanks for clearing up the difference between the 17 and 34. Would you get the MOS versions or have the optics cut!
At this point the RMR cut is tough to argue with - the SRO for a big premium dot will fit, RMR for bomb proof carry, and Holosun 507C or 407C for a good budget first dot
I don’t like one way modifications but everyone says it’s “better”
How is recoil impulse on both?
Just a dumb question. Can i have one glock 17 and just a 34 slide to switch between them? keep the 17 slide daily and use the 34 slide for competitions?
If they are the same generation - yes
Fernando you can as long it’s from the same gen. But the cost of the slide itself will be close to an entire gun.
Being 6’5 I chose the 34 gen 4 as my first gun, just felt way better and even looked better imo
So I have a Burris Fast Fire3 on my G17 MOS. I think the Burris doesn't like the cold, because whenever it's freezing outside it keeps flickering on and off. Some people online speculate that that means the battery is running low, but if that were the case then I imagine it would flicker a bunch while I'm indoors as well, which it doesn't.
So I'm at the point now where I think I'm just gonna commit to irons, the XS big dot sights, for both my G19 and 17. That way I have uniformity and more reliability than the Burris.
I would consider a more robust dot - my DPP has shot matches in the 30s and been fine.
The Glock 34 with The Top of slide cut out sprung Right is highly a better shooter I only use The gen's with Slide Cut out . The Best shooter i have had for decades is a Gen 3 35 with a 9mm Conversion barrel and Every spring weight all type Guiderods , It is my best Glock shooter I can run a 2-4-6 Hole Barrel I was shooiting 80 gr 9mm in the 90's .22 23 35 27 all Good 9mm shooters .
The 34 is no bigger than a 5” 1911
I guess that’s technically correct due to the beaver tail- a 1911 is a bit easier for carry in my opinion before you factor in weight
Is there a difference in grip/handle length?
The lowers are the same.
Why pick one?
This is clearly the superior answer.
What about the 17L!
Either choice is Rock solid, but I don't like how glock used the 17 frame and slapped a longer barrel on it. The barrel should always be the same length as the frame and match up.
Where did u get thoes suppressor sights
what night sights are you using?
I'm mad! No secret assignment at the end. Well I agree if you're going Red Dot it don't matter much. I personally have a 6.5" barrel in my Glock17 MOS. That way my bayonet don't look so odd on it.😂👍I love knocking down steel animals with it at 80-100 yards but, I like knocking down meat animals even more. I'll see you at the chat brother 👍

recoil impulse is different. 34 feels more sluggish.
@@TheHumbleMarksman Hmmm, not sure I like the sound of that. The 17 is already pretty soft. Anyway, thanks for the response.
If I might make a constructive criticism, your intro music is at too high a level compared to your voice track. Once you switch to you talking it takes a few seconds to adjust so I can hear what you're saying. A lot of YT content creators do this, the better ones don't. I'm new here but I like your vids.

Why? You can carry more rounds in the Glock 17!
@Spade I'm saying, why not carry the Glock 17, over the Glock 19? Because,I would take a Glock 17 over a Glock 19 any day because of the higher ammo capacity.

Bought the 34 because I like the smooth grips better than the finger ridges on the 17. I have a 23 with the ridges and it's the only thing about it that I don't like. That and it just feels less snappy than a 17. Makes me faster on follow up shots. Honestly I didn't realize how much faster till I checked the splits on the shot timer. Enough to be worth it to me. I'm no pro so I'll take every advantage I can get
I've only shot one USPSA match thus far so I'm not spun up. Why is it not a good idea to shoot 9mm in limited?
The most common miss in USPSA is a Charlie- shooting minor with a 9 gets you 3 points- shooting major gets you 4. In a typical match you get about 4-5% more match points shooting major than minor
@@TheHumbleMarksman Can you get in major with hot 9? Wouldn't shooting better negate that issue?
in limited division you can only score major with a 40 caliber or greater projectile. In Open you can get to major with a 355 projectile - so 38 Super Comp and 9 Major are prevalent - but open glocks don't have a very long service life on their slides/frames and you end up spending basically cheap open gun money to get it into play.
Before I show my work - put succinctly - Major is advantaged in every single division it's available other than potentially Revolver and SIngle Stack - and that can be match dependent - sometimes more ammo is better. Shooting major opens up the allowable aiming area on the target to be freaking huge. if I split a target an open target on the move at .22 with my major gun and you post up and split it at .3 I'm gaining a tenth just on that target plus whatever yard or so I traveled toward the last position on you which is worth probably another .3 or so seconds. With a minor gun in limited you're getting 23+1 at the most - maybe 24+1. In major you're getting 20-21+1. Most field courses are 22-36 rounds and require enough movement you can mitigate the time of one mag change. Since I've been shooting CO - I have seen exactly two stages that my minor 140mm mags gave me a different stage plan from the limited major guys - because I can intentionally shoot to 23-24.
With respect to shooting - not necessarily - because based on the stage the math can favor speed or accuracy. On accuracy intensive stages there is little to no difference - but even still a near miss Charlie will get you more points - and major isn't inherently more difficult to be accurate with. Where it really really comes into play is you get a bigger aiming area - you can shoot on the move at the A/C zone with less care of picking up charlies if you're hustling. You can do the math on a given stage to figure out how much time each point is worth - and the practiscore competitor app will do the math for you - and MOST uspsa stages have a bend toward speed over accuracy. If I adapt my stats on the overall in carry optics to Open Major in my last 3 matches my standings in the overall jump 4-6% - and a buddy shooting LimMinor I do the same thing for him and the result is similar. It's a common fallacy new guys have that they can be more accurate and offset the speed. The truth is you need to shoot 90%+ of points available in Limited - and with major how you get to that number is usually a good bit faster. If I can eat 2 charlies on a partial and you have to try for alphas I've usually gained some time on you without suffering points. I drop 2 points on that target and your'e dropping 4.
@@TheHumbleMarksman Whoa. Thanks for the deep dive knowledge bomb. In that case what division does it makes sense to shoot 9mm in?
Daniel Cook until you care about being competitive - Limited minor is fine- but production or Carry Optics

How important do you think it is to have a dry fire/practice gun AND a competition only gun?
Scroll back and look at my pictures of magwells on my G17 vs early G5 34 vs my new one on my YT community post. If you are dryfiring and shooting high volumes you are eventually courting failure since these things are ultimately consumable. The frames will need to be replaced on my dryfire gun’s ultimately. With a dot - 100% need a back up dot if not dot mounted on a gun if you are serious about competing
If you are a 5k a year shooter it’s not as pressing as 10K+.
Putting it in perspective - I have spent 500$ on match fees this year. If my dot goes down at a match I need to be able to continue.
@@TheHumbleMarksman Ah ok, yeah im shooting about 2500 a month. I have a Q5 as my main competition gun but i was thinking of using my Q4 as a dryfire/practice gun. Do you think the size/weight difference between the two would be detrimental to my training?

I prefer G34 with Iron Sights. The gun is noticeable quicker on follow-up shots.
For duty use, G45 with red dot provides the similar accuracy, whilst cutting down on carry discomfort.
The Glock 17 is obsolete at this point unfortunately...
How is the recoil impulse between the G45 and 34? I have a 19,45,17 which I feel all shot soft. Never shot a 34 but everyone says it’s the softest shooting Glock
@@jjoseph6166 I don't have an optic on my G34. My G45 has a Aimpoint Acro P2. So it's not an apples to apples comparison. I tend to keep the muzzle of the G34 pointed down, locked in, so it feels like the recoil is more manageable. The G34 also feels more balanced in my hand, whereas the G45 is more butt heavy. Could just be my imagination. Overall, I prefer the standard iron sight picture on the G34 over my G45 with a RDO.

How do you get blue label glocks? What site is that again? I wanna win a random GLock.
Gssfonline.com
So here is where I call bullshit. Searched my local gunshops and got a quote of just south of $900 for a
USED Glock 19, a bit puny bit smaller than a 17. Went with my gut and bought a brand new 34 for $650.
No question. I'll take the 34 because I'm taller than 5'6 and have bigger hands. A No Brainer.
