This is the song that woke me up from slumber during this covid era. I've always been Nightwish fan but during this covid time I re-found Nightwish again. I'm lucky and happy to own all the Nightwish studio albums. This is the music that heals my soul when I'm feeling sad. In a documentary Tuomas (the metal Mozart) said that a fan asked him write music that heals your broken heart. He has done that. I'm ever greatful to Tuomas and Nightwish music. There is no other band like this. Not even close.

The shot is from a drone (according to the credits). Fireworks are not generally allowed to be fired over people because of the health hazard (it can burn peoples eyes and the fallout can damage lungs if people are too close). Confetti looks cool, but the band is generally held responsible for the expense of cleaning up the mess and paying any environmental impact fees.

The saddest words are "We Were Here" because it speaks to the end of mankind. My hopes, dreams, and desires are all found in mankind continuing. I have no faith in the supernatural, so for me life is finite there is nothing on the other side of death. If mankind falls, then what the hell was it all for. The wars, conquest, losses, gains, knowledge, sciences, poetry, songs, music, arts all the deaths over who's God(s) are real. For nothing, if we fail to advance as a species into the universe and survive. No, I never want to imagine a giant obelisk where mankind once stood saying "We Were Here". All we were, gone to dust.

The back story - when Troy and Floor arrived in Nightwish, there were 3 people with a childhood dream of being a biologists as grown up (Tuomas Marinebiologist and Floor and Troy biologist) - and Marko are deep fascinated by the space, and have and incredible knowledge of it.
Troy introduced Tuomas (and the others) to Richard Dawkins and Carl Sagan - their view of the evolution of the Earth. Troy gave Tuomas some books from these Scientists - ans Tuomas got the idea of making the book by Richard Dawkins 'The Greatest Show on Earth' - into this piece of music. Originally it were 30 minutes, but they shortend it down to approximately 22 minutes, otherwise it would be a quater of a concert!!.
Everything in this masterpiece is showing the evolution - from Floor demonstrating all kinds of voice techniques and singing styles, to all the different instruments, tribal drumming into orchestral pieces of legendary classical music and chorus.
The picture showing, are missing people - of whom some got found, due to them getting recognized from Nightwish fans from all over the world.
This is a masterpiece - a real masterpiece, and only these 6 genius musicians, composers and singers are able to perform this properly.

John asking Donny how she feels,. she answers with "wild and full of surprize". I can go with that, but the real answer should be; " these lyrics are so close to the truth of evolution, it just can't be denied". The way Nightwish portrays this track is undoubtly the most truthfull about all the things happened in the last 4 and a half billion years. Cuz that's what this really is all about, the evolution of life over the eons of time. And if you don't get certain terms about geologic time, I'm sugesting "Do some research of your own" , the internet is full of this matter.

As an evolutionary biologist, and musician myself, this pushes every one of my science loving geek buttons. The way that Tuomas manages to put the entirety of biological history into song, and then to even go beyond humans (after our own inevitable extinction), is just mind blowing. And having Ricard Dawkins narrate the most inspiring line from the origin of species, is just so inspiring to me, to think that we are the product of 4.5 billion years of evolution, from Archaea bacteria, to us, and then beyond just knocks me down with a feather.

Actually, not the universe. It is the creation of Earth and then evolution. If you look at the section titles, they start with 4.6bn years ago which is creation of earth whereas the universe is approx 14bn years.
    Just saying...

Tuomas is a genius at all things musical, though the song has scientific mistakes in it, and Wolf HunterZ misinterpret much. First, the initial fireworks seem to signify the LHB (Late Heavy Bombardment) which coincides with the start of life on Earth, or at least this instance of it. There was a brief reference to what came before, with the newborns around the fire and Goldilocks verses. However, the "newborns" were not pulled around the fire; they were born there. Also, LUCA did not appear until well after life was established, having been a lifeform, itself. The song is not about the origin of the universe, it is specifically about life on Earth. Keeping the context in mind, other misinterpretations are easy to spot.

LUCA. Last Unique Common Ancestor. literal Adam and Eve. the species from which All Life On Earth Descends. 1 in 400 Trillion. the odds of You being born. for every person that exists, there could have been 399,999,999,999,999 Other People who Could Have Been Here Instead. you won the ultimate lottery. what are you doing with it? create more love in the world. there's more than enough hate.

Jon, you talk to much. Follow Dolly's lead. Listen, stop and comment. Quiet during the song.

Your voices are too loud, as musicians one would assume you know whatvs mixer is? Its impossible to have the music loud as your voices get way too loud.
