Ah, just like the Mary Shelly novel! I am so glad they chose to include Medusa, the Water Dragons as well as the vampires and wolfmen. All the movie adaptations forget those.
This feels like this game had a completely different plot but they just replaced the final boss with Frankenstein for some reason, I really wanna know the story of this game, doesn't look too bad either
It made for a funny AVGN segment, but honestly even though the theme is a bit cliche, it has a pretty cool art style. I can see it being a completely different narrative, but at the same time I can see them just making a game and thinking "hmm we need a notable final boss, but Dracula has been done already. I know! How about the Frankenstein monster?" 😂 The game isn't bad, but it's not super fun either. It's pretty frustrating and not in a Castlevania way, but a "the controls and hit boxes could have used just a bit more fine tuning" kind of frustrating. Like I said, it has a cool art style and honestly this game had some potential, but it didn't ultimately deliver. The gameplay is rather average, and unfortunately this game is pretty obscure today.
There was this metroidvania game for Gameboy and Snes named Dr Franken or something that was pretty cool as far as I remember. There was only one song playing for the entire game though and that was Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, the famous and monotonous movement. Well done with the bosses!
The creature has no name to emphasise on his dehumanization, that was the point of the novel, it was a *thing* that belonged to the doctor, like a slave.
So if you kill Death, how are the other monsters (Or for that matter, you) still able to die? I mean you literally killed *DEATH ITSELF*, nothing should be able to die, then.
At first I thought you meant by the dragon not having a picture at all, but now I see you meant that he has no profile sprite and the game just used his battle sprite.
I wonder how Frankenstein's monster would have evolved as a villain if this took off as a franchise. Like maybe he gets the powers and experience of every person that makes his body
Main problem with this game is the collision detection is terrible. Getting your hits to actually register on your targets is a pain, especially with the melee weapons. Which is a shame because otherwise it would have been a decent, albeit forgettable, Castlevania knockoff.
