Schools around the world should include the most important contributions of Sir Rowland Hill’s to the modern day communications with the introduction of the postage stamp in 1840. This excellent and very informative presentation by none other than Sir Rowland’s descendent contains materials seen for the first time by many of us. Fans of e-mails who cruelly labelled the postage stamps attached letters as ‘snail mail’ have predicted the demise of postage stamp and philately in early 1980’s but today they are scratching their heads and can’t find the answer to the ever thriving ‘snail mail’.Thanks to Sir Rowland Hill foresight and some 2040, we will celebrate the 200 years of postage stamps.
