  • The first time Roosevelt and Centennial matched up it was Carter Bryant who lit up the gym for 39 points and a 4 point Husky win. For the Big VIII Title Game it brought the Mustangs and the Huskies together for a rematch. Brayden Burries was locked in from the tip and determined to flip the script in the 2nd matchup. Burries and Issac Williamson led an assault in the first quarter and when the first quarter was over had a 20-4 lead. Centennial battled back and slowly chipped away at the deficit, at one point trimming the Mustang lead to 5 points. Roosevelt answered back and built the lead back to double digits to win the Big VIII Title. Burries finished with 31 big points including 5 three's. Williamson's offense in the first quarter helped jumpstart the Mustang rally and ended with 12 points. Another huge X Factor was the return of Myles Walker. After suffering a hand injury (not shooting hand) in early January, sitting out multiple games Walker was back in action and made an impact. Although he didn't show up in the box score with big numbers, his defensive ability to manufacture turnovers and to push the ball in transition was a huge catalyst Roosevelt had been missing. Carter Bryant was tamed from his earlier 39 point outburst, held to 12 points. Eric Freeny was the Huskies scoring leader with 15 points. In the end the turnovers were too monumental to overcome for Centennial. Both teams were selected for the CIFSS Open Division Playoffs although they are slotted in different pools. The good friends off the court in Burries and Bryant could possibly meet again on the court if stars align.
