    I love the hell out of that electric eraser!! You can lighten the lines or do away with them entirely. Great video, Steve. I've been a follower since before you changed your "name". It's been well worth my time watching you draw and paint. Now if I can get that good...🤔

    • @SteveAtkinsonFineArt
      @SteveAtkinsonFineArt  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi George, yeah, I love my electric eraser. I used to use something made by Pink Pearl that looked like a plastic tube that had a cylindrical eraser that you'd feed up the tube as you used the eraser up. It was like the electric eraser, only it didn't spin. It was good for pulling out highlights when I was airbrushing. This is waaay better. Thanks for sticking with me, it's much appreciated. You just keep working at getting better and it'll take care of itself! 😉

      Hi Pete, I love Artlist. Great selection. Once you download the song. It's yours to use forever, unlike some other services. The nature sounds in this video are considered sound effects and require an additional payment, but I think it's reasonable.

      Hello from Prescott Arizona "All Rounder King"! When I do this kind of sketching, I start off doing a small amount of measuring (how tall is the head when compared to it's width, like that), give myself some guiding marks, and from there use my eye to judge distances and angles between features like eyes, nose and mouth and lightly sketch them in, being able to erase and move anything that needs adjusting. Once I have it roughed in to where I'm happy, I start to lock it in with darker lines. Then refine any details, values or surface planes on the face. Always stop a little before you think you're done and walk away for a bit. Finish it when you come back (15 minutes at least). Don't overwork it. If you leave it a bit looser, it's better than killing it with detail. Hope that helps you and DRAW ON!! 😛

    Hi Steve wondering if I should buy an electric eraser....would you recommend it for someone's art kit? Thank you

    • @SteveAtkinsonFineArt
      @SteveAtkinsonFineArt  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi FF, that's a good question. After using one now for so many years, I wouldn't do without it. It erases cleaner and give you a wonderful line. If I need a really sharp line, I'll take my X-acto knife and cut off the end to make a flat top. You can get hairlines that way. It also depends on how often you sit down to draw. If you sketch often, it's worth its weight in gold, if not, you can probably do without it. For me, it's essential. Hope that helps!

      @SteveAtkinsonFineArt  Před 2 lety

      If you don't want to invest in an electric eraser, you can use one of these the same way... you just power it with your wrist... grin amzn.to/3jvdK4B

      @@SteveAtkinsonFineArt thank you that does help a lot. I sketch everyday and sometimes need to get those tight hard to get areas and resort to my much pencil eraser. Now I will begin my search for one of these. Thank you again.

    • @SteveAtkinsonFineArt
      @SteveAtkinsonFineArt  Před 2 lety

      Ha! Great minds think alike when it comes to erasers 😂 I was working off of my "people to draw" Pinterest board. I always use photos to do these drawings since it helps with keeping my eyes practiced in judging proportions. I do these without measuring too much. A little, but not much.
