Them some rusty side cutters 😂
Yup. Still sorta working though.
great video on showing the actual install with good lighting...thanks very much...now I have to do mine...
Good luck. Wear gloves
I can totally relate to the 'screw dropped on gravel' which acts like there is a giant magnet at the center of the earth's core. Lots of fun, especially with SS which is non magnetic. But you got it!
Yeah, but there's probably about a thousand more I've lost in that gravel. Grrrrr
Good stuff. I'm possibly looking forward to doing this soon. Possible clogged tank or malfunctioning blade handle thing. Conveniently melted tank and plumbing a little bit causing drip. Thinking it was still frozen with ice clogging it. (WY)...
Good luck with it. At least it's getting warm so hopefully you won't need to do it while freezing.
How inspirational. You make me want to go get started right now. Just kidding I think Ill wait a couple more days cause its really gonna suck bad
Yes, very bad!
I would recommend you use some medium duty BLUE Loctite on that Set Screw. Will hold it in place and not vibrate loose, causing that cable to slide out.
Good suggestion. In hindsight, I should've done that.
I have to do this for black and gray in our 2nd bathroom. Black is stuck shut, gray is stuck open. Neither cable works and it's been cold and rainy. I'd leave it for spring, but the black tank is full.
Good luck! Be careful. Hopefully it's just the cable and not the entire plug.
How do you get a hose attachment on to drain/empty the black tank while it's spewing out since it won't close so you can get to the parts to fix the problem? Do you have to just deal with the nastiness?
In my case it was a very slow leak so it wasn't too bad
I need to do this but mine is full and it broke closed. I also have the black full cover underneath my trailer 🥴
Good luck. It's not a pleasant job
how did you remove the lining?? greetings from Brazil!
Greetings. Mine didn't have a lining, so it wasn't too difficult.
@@VanDamArtisan tks
@@VanDamArtisan You have to cut it, then use lining patch tape.
How doesnt your drain pipe freeze broken when its winter?
We have mild winters here.
@3:43 This is why I wear gloves when I eat Cheetos and work with poop! I don't want either of them on my tools... But you just can't clean Cheetos dust off of anything no matter how hard you scrub.
Good point
@@VanDamArtisan And great job too... Just like everyone else I'm here to learn because I gotta do it. Thanks for making the vid!
Thanks for watching and good luck on your project. It's not too hard, just nasty. By the way, I wear gloves much more frequently these days.
@ 3:41...that’s what she said.
How much did u safe on labor
Probably not enough to be worth it. Maybe a couple hundred? Pretty nasty job though.
Bro i got shit in my tank and it's stuck it's smelling my camper so bad I need to fix that but dont know how with shit in it
Be careful! It's not fun. I had one drop out of my trailer once. Very nasty.
🎉🎉🎉🎉
How did you get it so clean and dry...
I scrubbed it after I pulled it off
@@VanDamArtisan I would have said I gave it a a bather and a blow-dry
Nice
@@VanDamArtisan thanks to your video I just replaced a broken black tank valve
Awful job, isn't it!? I'm glad the video helped.
Vaseline on the gaskets will hold them in place.
That's a really good idea!
Valterra which makes the valves highly recommends no vaseline be used
We bought a used rig. Used it. Took it to the dump to empty the tanks and the handle came off the valve of the black tank. Now we have a loaded black tank and no way to dump it or replace the valve without an environmental disaster. Hoping to find someone who can fix it for us.
That's a super lame problem. I wish they made them better
If it’s just a broken handle I’ve gripped pull rod with vice grips. If it’s stuck spray lube rod before tugging out
@@froglobster The rod came off with the handle. We researched further. What we need to do is cut off the outer housing, then grab the bit of exposed blade with a needle nose pliers and pull to dump the tank and then we can get on with replacing the entire unit. Not an ideal job for old people in the cold and wet of the Pacific Northwest.
@@DisabledNomads I know what you mean I’m in the Pacific Northwest sorry for your hard luck
@@DisabledNomads Find an rv dump site. Hook up your flex hose with cap off obviously. Puncture a small hole in flex hose a few inches away from connection on top. Take a steel rod rebar or whatever and hammer it into the knife blade to break it. Minimal leakage will come from the punctured flex hose. Rag wrap rod area of flex hose puncture hole.
U fool 😢
